First off, let me start by wishing you all a Happy New Year! A new year is upon us and with it comes a new Papertrey Ink Senior Design Team Challenge. To start off the new year the Design Team is taking a look at another "oldie but goodie"... All Booked Up. It's been quite some time since I last pulled this set out, but I quickly remembered how fun these round images are to work with. For today's project I've whipped up a quick card and a few coordinating bookmarks. Take a look... Drawing inspiration from the circular image I chose to work with I stamped a white card base with random polka dots in a color combo of Hibiscus Burst, Summer Sunrise, Aqua Mist & Spring Moss.To create a strong focal point amongst the dots, I stamped the book circle and a sentiment below in True Black. Attached a True Black cardstock strip and embellished with a couple True Black buttons and twine.I then stamped four bookmarks in the same way as the card above.First, with the colorful dots. Second, with the book circle and sentiment. Then topped each with a coordinating colored ribbon, which was tied into place with white silk ribbon through a True Black button. Well, that's it from me today. Now be sure to visit the other Papertrey Ink Senior Design Team girls for more All Booked Up goodness... Hey everyone! Thanks for joining me today, for the January Papertrey Ink Senior DT challenge. This time around we are bringing back All Booked Up! It's been fun pulling out this unique and lovely set. Some of my favorite types of images to work with are circular ones, because they are so versatile and there are so many ways to use them. I just love that this set has four of them to work with! For today's card and gift ensemble I've utilized one of these gorgeous circles as the focus. Have a look!... A coordinating card and bookmark wrap, perfect for a bookworm friend! First up, the card... I stamped the flower vase image in black ink onto a rustic white cardstock block. Then spot colored just one of the circle images. Here's A Tip: I began stamping the pattern with the image I knew I wanted to color and then continued the pattern from there. This ensures a perfect placement. The packaging began by creating a trio of bookmarks to embellish the gift wrapped books. The top bookmark was created in the same fashion as the card. The other two were simply die cut from cardstock and stamped with an All Booked Up sentiment. Topped each bookmark with a cardstock top. Here's How: After die cutting from the pattern paper, I die cut again from coordinating cardstock, trimmed off the tops and attached. Then simply clipped all three to the package, which was wrapped with more coordinating cardstock and some gold glitter twine. Well, that's it from me today. The final day of the Papertrey Ink Countdown is here and the Design Team has one final group post to share with you today. This time around we bring you a look at Simply Jane, designed by Nichole Heady. The phrase "simply splendid" is what comes to mind when I think of the new stamp set. It's such a beautifully designed set and that frame... it's to die for! Creating stunningly gorgeous creations is going to be a breeze when working with these images. Check out the loveliness I have to share with you today!...Even though I've kept things super simple, the Simply Jane images give my card just the right touch of beauty to keep from being too boring. Here's How: I started with the bouquet image. I love how this entire image was designed in two parts... the bouquet itself as one stamp image and then the bow as a second. This makes it easy to stamp using multiple colors. I inked the top portion of the bouquet in Canyon Clay and the bottom in Spring Moss.Stamped the bouquet onto a die cut oval. Next, I inked the bow in Aqua Mist. Then stamped it into place. Easy peasy and it looks pretty too!Stamped a sentiment (also from the Simply Jane stamp set) in True Black. Then, using Smoky Shadow ink, I stamped this gorgeous frame onto a kraft card base. Then, with dimensional adhesive, I mounted the stamped oval within. Then finished the card off with a couple Canyon Clay buttons strung with embroidery floss. Well, that's it from me today. Be sure to see what the rest of the Papertrey Ink design team has in store for you today... Hey there! I'm back today for the final day of the January Papertrey Ink countdown. Everything you've seen peeks of will be available tomorrow! And today I bring you one more sample of Boho Rounds, one of my new design for this month. I would have loved to have had more to share with you this release week, but life has been so crazy busy around here. Here I've inked the half circle in gold ink and stamped it twice to make a complete round. Check out that shine! I trimmed a small triangle corner from Luxe Gold cardstock and then finished the card off with a Smokey Shadow die cut "hello" from the Super Swoosh die collection. I stapled it all into place using a Tiny Attacher stapler. Well, that finishes up this months release for me. Just remember... all that you've seen today will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink, beginning January 15th. Now, be sure to visit the Papertrey Ink blog for more crafty goodness. Thanks so much for stopping by! Maile

Today the senior design team members at Papertrey Ink are revisiting an older stamp set today to give you new ideas for using it! The stamp set we are using today is called Stitched Sentiments, which you can find HERE in the Papertrey Ink shop! Do you have this set? It's one of my absolute favorites! I've paired Stitched Sentiments stamps with the Life Is Beautiful dies for these cards today. To create each of these cards, I've cut a panel of white cardstock, stamped the stem, flowers and sentiments with Stitched Sentiments, then wrapped the panel with twine. I used the Life Is Beautiful dies to cut out the back panel of the butterfly in patterned paper, then the front of the butterfly in vellum. The stamped panels are then backed with patterned paper. On this teal card, I used paper from the Vintage Linens Patterned Paper Collection. I actually started with the patterned paper in mind that I wanted to use first, then pulled my colors for the stamping from the papers to get a cohesive design. A few gold sequins add a little sparkle and finish off the card. Here is a different color combo, but same design. I used the Vintage Linens Patterned Paper Collection again for the back of the butterfly and the floral background paper. The vellum butterflies are just adhered in the centers. Last, a soft gray one made with the Stormy Sea + White Patterned Paper Collection and Stormy Sea cardstock and inks. I also used a new ink color called Lovely Lady. This time I stamped the stem above the butterfly instead of below it. Which do you like better? The Stitched Sentiments stamp set comes with other sentiments also, so you could easily use this design and change out the sentiments to create birthday cards, love and thank you's as well. I think I may make a few card sets with other sentiments and put them up in my shop! Be sure to visit the other ladies to see more with Stitched Sentiments: Betsy, Dawn, Heather and Melissa. Happy New Year!!! You card set: STAMPS: Stitched Sentiments INK: Lovely Lady, Stormy Sea, Pure Poppy, True Black, New Leaf, Melon Berry, Tropical Teal, Aqua Mist PAPER: Stormy Sea cardstock and patterned paper, Vintage Linen Patterned Paper, vellum, Tropical Teal Patterned Paper DIES: Life Is Beautiful OTHER: twine, sequins. ______
2009 Revisited - I confess I wasn't introduced to the world of card-making until 2 or 3 years after 2009. My inspiration for this anniversary challenge came from Amber's card, "Fruitful". I used a more recent set of fruity stamps and dies called "Still Life: Summer" and the lattice work from the Garden Gate kit. This was fun to make and lots of yummy colors!

Happy Friday! I can't believe it's been almost three months since I posted here on my blog! I knew that when I stepped down from the CAS(E) This Sketch DT, that it would cut down on my card-making, but I really didn't imagine that I would hardly craft this fall. While I have missed sitting at my table and being creative, I have also found life to be full lately. So, I thought I'd post a "Five for Friday" to share what I've been up to.... 1. Well I think I have, after two years, adjusted to working full time. :) It is still my dream job & I love it! I feel more and more confident in what I'm doing and am blessed to be working with several fabulous contractors. I'm hoping to have some kitchen photos to share soon, so stay tuned. 2. Time with my family has always been and continues to be my priority. With Austin away at Bible College, Jonah in Grade 11 & Sage in Grade 9, I am all too aware that my days as an empty nester are just around the corner, so I want to soak up all of the time with them as I can! And yes, I am now the shortest member of my family. ;) When I started working full time in 2016, I started putting money away in savings to save for a trip to Florida. Well, this fall, I had enough money saved to take Austin, Jonah & Sage. We had such a fabulous time! We spent three days at Disney World. Day 1 was spent at Epcot and Hollywood Studios. On day 2, we went to Animal Kingdom: On Day 3, we returned to Epcot to visit all of the pavilions and then spent the rest of the day at Magic Kingdom. Then, we spent two days at Universal Studios. We especially loved all of the Harry Potter stuff! It was such a great time that we spent together -- I really loved it! 3. We have also been busy with taekwondo, trying to attend class whenever we can. Last Saturday, I was bursting with pride as Jonah & Sage tested for their 3rd degree black (Jonah) & junior black (Sage) belts. They tested with our instructor, who was testing for his 4th degree black belt. At their promotion, Master Lea let me tie Jonah's new black belt around his waist. :) 4. I have also been focusing on taking care of myself. I joined a weight loss program in July which has had me eating healthier (whole foods, lots of veggies, no dairy, no carbs), exercising more often (this month's focus is yoga, which I'm enjoying) and seeing a loss of 18.5 lbs. :) Part of the accountability of the program is encouraging the participants to take sweaty selfies after we work out, like this: I've been loving this transformation in my habits and in my body! 5. And lastly, I have a card to share! Sunday, we had supper with Cameron's aunt for her birthday, so I sat down in my craft space on Sunday afternoon and to make her a card. I used some patterned paper from my stash, some Papertrey Ink button twine and some stamps & dies from Wplus9 (Modern Peonies, I think), which I heat embossed in clear, after stamping them with Versamark Black Onyx and then watercoloured with my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Markers and a water brush. Thanks for looking!
Today the Papertrey Ink design team is revisiting an older stamp set called Super Stars to give you a few fresh, new ideas for using it on your cards and projects! This is one of my all-time favorite stamp sets! I love the movement that the wavy sentiments give to a card: it's very free-form and fun! I have mixed the older Super Stars stamps with a few newer products from Papertrey Ink: the flowers from the Make It Market: Don't Forget to Write kit preprinted papers and the What The Doodle: Butterfly dies. On my cards today, I wanted to use the wavy dotted lines to resemble butterfly trails. I stamped the dotted lines and sentiment from Super Stars, then added a floral die cut from the Don't Forget to Write kit papers. There is a die in the kit that trims out the florals perfectly from the pre-printed papers! I stamped a few stars from Super Stars also. The butterflies are die cut with What The Doodle: Butterfly from the Sheer Basics Vellum. After finishing the card front, I adhered it to a Pure Poppy + White Basics paper (stripe). On the next card, I used the dotted lines again as butterfly trails, but used a different sentiment from Super Stars. I've used the same design essentially, but positioned my card vertically instead of horizontally and used a different color scheme. Again, I cut a pre-printed floral design from the Don't Forget to Write kit, stamped some stars, and added the vellum butterfly layers. The finished card front was added to a Tropical Teal patterned paper. Really hope you enjoyed these ideas and cards today, now I'm off to see what the other ladies have made! It's always like Christmas for me to see everyone's projects made with the same products. :) Have a great day!! Now visit...Betsy, Dawn, Heather, and Melissa for more ideas!
Thanks for joining me today for the July Papertrey Ink Senior DT Challenge. This time around we are bringing back Daydreamer! This versatile floral set is one that caters to many different styles. It's super easy to work with and these gorgeous images are timeless. This is a classic set that will fit in with any stamp collection. I've got a couple simple projects that give this set a bit of a modern touch. Check them out!... An overall black and white color combo with a small pop of color is currently a very modern color trend. This is the theme I bring you today. First up the black, white and melon berry combo. This card began with a polka dotted pattern paper sheet from the Black & White All Over paper pad. Using melon berry ink I stamped a small grouping of flowers, leaves and dots from the Daydreamer stamp set. On top of that I layered the hand cut sentiment strips with dimensional adhesive. I'll finish off today with a black, white and aqua mist combo. These stems and flowers were a cinch to stamp! These cool flowers are perfectly modern too! More hand trimmed sentiment strips, this time attached just over the edge. Here's a Tip: To make room for the overhang I trimmed a 1/4" from the edge of the cards base. PS... I was in too much of a hurry to even notice my mistake when adhering my sentiment. Ha! Well, that's it from me today. Hope you enjoy this month feature! Welcome back for Day 5 of the August Papertrey Ink Countdown! This is my last day to share projects for this month's release and I have just a few more featuring the Tiny Take Out Box and the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. Let's get going! The first ensemble I have today is a little fella's birthday set. I started with the box. I wanted to try creating a fabric box. I tried fabric with interfacing, but that wasn't quite sturdy enough. I tried laminating the fabric onto a piece of cardstock and that worked perfectly! I die cut and assembled my box before cutting slits along the score lines on the short sides. Then, I slipped ribbon through the slits to create mini basket handles. From there I die cut and colored the rocket from Boy Basics Out Of This World set. I embellished my rocket window with a bit of glitter for some sparkle and strips of crimped Harvest Gold patterned paper as flames. Then, I die cut a Countdown Details shape and stamped it with a sentiment from Faux Ribbon. Those pieces were then adhered to my box with Scor Tape. Next I worked on my coordinating card. I started by texturing a piece of Enchanted Evening cardstock with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate and adhered it to a white base. Then I die cut a circle from Harvest Gold patterned paper and die cut a number 3 from the resulting shape. It's a little moon! I stamped "happy" on the moon using the Simple Alphabet and adhered it to my textured card front. Then, I die cut the long banner strip from the Get A Handle On It Die Collection and cut one of the Birthday Trio Dies from that. That birthday banner was mounted to the card front with foam tape. Finally I die cut, colored, and embellished a second rocket and mounted that to the card with more foam tape and rounded the bottom corners. My final project of this release is a very simple sympathy card. I began by stamping the stems, leaves, and blooms for the flowers onto Rustic White cardstock. Then, I die cut and stamped a second bloom onto more Rustic White cardstock. I stamped my sentiment over the flower stems and textured the card front with the Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. I deliberately didn't use my shim when I added the texture to ensure that it would be slightly more subtle on this card. I rounded the corners and mounted the extra bloom to the card front with foam tape. The last step was embellishing the bloom centers with small pearls. Thank you for joining me over the past several days! Make sure to visit with Nichole, Ashley, Betsy, Cristina, Dawn, Erin, Heather, Jess, Maile, Melissa, and Melissa to see sneak peeks of this month's new releases. See you soon! Happy New Year, everyone! I can hardly believe that another year has come and gone... I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday and end of the year. Today is time for another Papertrey Ink senior design team challenge!...
Hello! March is here and it came in like a lion! We won't let that stop us from celebrating spring though, as the Papertrey Ink Sr. Team Challenge is all about the Mini Blooms stamp set...it is one
I'm back with my third and last project working with the Monthly Moments collection for March by Papertrey Ink! Today I'm going to be using the new Journal Accessories stamp set and A Few Pointers stamp set and dies as well. When thinking of what to make, immediately my mind went to the journaling cards in the kit (oh, how I love color and pattern!). Then inspiration struck! A mini album with these as my pages would be so neat. It's not really spring here yet (no flower blooms here yet, mostly snow!), but I used the March stamps with photos from my recent trip home to South Dakota see my parents and brother's family. The front cover base is a Monthly Moments: March journaling card. I made my own background on the front by die cutting a Journal Card 1 and stamping it with all of the cute sayings from A Few Pointers. The little squares are Moda fabrics I found at a scrap store, but you could easily replicate this look with Aqua Mist cardstock and some flower stamps and dies! I made some of my own pages with the stamps also. These notebook journaling cards below were made from scratch. I cut them out with the Journal card 1 die and then stamped them with this set, the Journal Accessories stamps, and I'm going to use them with the March Monthly Moments journaling cards! And some of the little cards you'll see throughout the mini album were die cut with the March dies and A Few Pointers dies. OK, let's get to the inside! First, a little journaling card I made from scratch telling about our trip home. Same as the above card I made, but here I added a Tropical Teal back to it with the Journal Card 2 die. Isn't it cute how the two journal card dies layer so well together? Washi tape and a little enamel dot add a tiny bit of color and pattern. On the birthday pic of my dad, I used the March dies with the Birthday Classics: March stamp set. He turned 63 while we were there visiting! I cut the March with the March die collection and layered it - one cut with white and one cut from a journaling card in the March Monthly Moments collection. Next, some pics of my girls playing with their cousins outside at my parents' home! Here's one of these accent cards I cut out with the A Few Pointers die. You can use it for journaling or simply as a neat embellishment to accent your photo! The tag is cut with Tremendous Tags from a journaling card. At the top of some of these cards, I added a few little fabrics to jazz them up, just wrapped them around and stapled them on. The spring circle was stamped with the March stamps. Another pic of the kids playing. They get along so well and always have a blast together! My brother has two boys right around the same ages as my girls. As you can see, it's been a really snowy year, so I wasn't able to scrap flower buds and springy things with this kit like I wanted to, but it worked out just fine! And here is one more handmade card created with the Journal Accessories stamps. "Sunday" is from A Few Pointers. I added a few pics of the day we went bowling. Another fun thing that I captured was when all the kids went out to play was when my dad was showing the girls how to shoot BB guns. They loooved it! I love this pic of my dad helping Kati. She was good too - hit the target right away! Here she is standing proudly in front of her target. :) I stapled a journaling card to the edge of the photo with one I stamped myself with all the fun sayings from A Few Pointers. Then I covered the staple with washi tape that coordinated with her shirt. Here is my other daughter shooting BB's with my older nephew. The kids always do cool stuff when we go to visit! My dad let them drive his golf cart around one night. lol (I was gone, but would have loved to get pictures of that!) Seeing all of the patterns and colors together makes me happy. I have a couple more things I still want to add...a few more pics of some sight seeing we did together to Mt. Rushmore, etc. Then I'm just going to punch holes and assemble it all together on a binder ring. I think I might insert it into my monthly moments album after the Feb. page, just to keep all the months together in one place. Mini albums are kind of like one big layered card with lots of little cards inside. Cards for me are easier than scrapbook pages, because it's a smaller palette to work with, a smaller space to fill. So when you begin a mini album, think of each page as a little card palette and how you could add interest to each page. Also when you stack the cards, look at them as layers and choose ones that look good next to each other or on top of each other (which is quite easy with these kits, because they all coordinate)! I wanted to add just a little more color to mine, so I laid out a bunch of goodies from my stash that I thought would work well together before I started. I've got some washi tapes and little fabric swatches from Moda that I picked up the other day. For inks, I grabbed the ink colors in the kit: Spring Moss, Harvest Gold, Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist. Then I added a few more inks to my palette: Melon Berry, Tropical Teal and Berry Sorbet. Just to add a tiny bit of warmth to the color palette. At this point, I'm not sure if I'm going to use ALL of these items in my mini album, but it's inspiring to see them all laid out together and have so many choices. There you have it. My mini album process. I hope some of these tips inspire you to try one. Visit Heather Nichols and Melissa Phillips for more Monthly Moments inspiration for March!

Hello and welcome! This months Papertrey Ink Design Team group post is all about reading and books. I know one certain little man who happens to love both, my 3 year old son Isaiah. He and a couple of his favorite books were my inspiration for today's ensemble. The two books he is holding in the photo above are his current faves, A Fish Out Of Water and Adventures of Frog and Toad. Isaiah loves story time and if it was up to him, story time would last all day! With a few intermissions to play outside, of course! :) A Fish Out Of Water is a book which was given to him by my mom (his Grammy), after she bought him a couple of fish to enjoy at her house. It's all about a fish that grows and grows uncontrollably. He really gets a kick out of this fun story. Adventures Of Frog And Toad is a compilation of many short story. Each story is all about a certain adventure that happens in the lives of a couple of close friends. Which makes this book perfect for pulling out and reading a few short stories at a time. So, this is when a bookmark comes in handy to save our spot for next time... Included in this months release is a gorgeous book/reading stamp set called All Booked Up, created by Nichole Heady. Which is what I used for today's ensemble. From the set I chose to work with the Mat Stack #3 image, one of the circular images and two of the sentiments. Taking inspiration from Adventures Of Frog And Toad, I chose to work with a color combo of Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Simply Chartreuse & White. Used the coordinating die, Bookmark & Bookmark Topper, to create the bookmark from kraft cardstock. Impressed the bottom half with the soon to be released Book Prints Impression Plate. Stamped (in Simply Chartreuse), punched out and attached the circular image over a Dark Chocolate cardstock strip stamped with a "Save Your Spot" sentiment (in Fresh Snow). Finished it off with a Simply Chartreuse ribbon tab. Isaiah wanted to join in and help show off the coordinating card. :) Used the Book Prints Impression Plate on the front of a kraft card base, on top of that attached a die cut Mat Stack #3 (stamped in Dark Chocolate). I actually flipped the mat upside down, stamped the sentiment, punched a hole at the top and topped it with a Simply Chartreuse ribbon tab. Stamped (in Simply Chartreuse), punched out and attached the circular image over a Dark Chocolate button and cardstock strip. One thing that I have learned from these many story times is, that I need to cherish each one while I've still got them! As you know, children grow up way too fast! I truly hope and pray that, as my sons quickly grows, his love for books and stories will grow and increase with him. The Design Team has much more All Booked Up to share with you today. Thanks for joining me today for the June Papertrey Ink Senior DT Challenge. This time around we are bringing back Simply Jane! I am a simple stamper at heart and I was excited to take on this months challenge of using Simply Jane not only in a simple way but in a more embellished and layered way too. From simple to lots of layers, Simply Jane is one of those sets that will give you a timeless and perfectly polished look every time. Take a look... Here's a perfectly polished and simple look. It can easily be recreated too! The background was stamped in sweet blush using the large frame included in the set. Embellished with sweet blush ribbon and a gem. Finished with a sentiment. Now for some lovely layers... a portion of the Delicate Details large die and strips of cardstock cut from Autumn Rose. On top of that a focal point stamped onto a die cut Half & Half panel. A layering of stamped images and glitter dots to top this card off. I was totally inspired another card of mine, found in this blog post. Well, that's it from me today. Now be sure to visit the other Papertrey Ink senior design team girls for more Simply Jane goodness... Dawn McVey Betsy Veldman Heather Nichols Melissa Phillips Thanks for stopping by today! Maile

Hello there! It's the first of the month (AND the first of the new year!!) and that means that it's time for Papertrey's Senior Design Team Challenge. This month, Nichole has challenged us to pull out our All Booked Up...
Today, I have a card to share for Papertrey Ink's June Create Along with Us, where I was inspired by this card by the fabulous Amy Sheffer: Isn't it super fun? I love how she used the Big Sky Cover Plate and added the buildings. I decided to use the same cover plate, but teamed it with Pedal Pusher instead. I started by diecutting a piece of white cardstock with the Big Sky Cover Plate and layering it over a piece of aqua mist cardstock. I added some Hawaiian shores ink to it using my blending tool and stamped the buildings using an image from the Masterpiece kit. I stamped the bike from Pedal Pusher onto its coordinating diecut in Green Parakeet and versafine onyx black. For the ground, I cut two strips of cardstock and blended ink onto them using green parakeet and Altenew evening grey. I diecut the green one using a Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Border die. I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of cardstock, like Amy did. I stamped it first in green parakeet and then, using my MISTI, stamped it a second time, after I inked up only the top part using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Thanks for looking!

Happy New Year! I'm kind of sad to see 2013 go, even though dreams, wishes, and hopes didn't all play out as I would have liked them to, I am so thankful, and understand that all things happen for a...
Hello all! As I mentioned in my last blog post, I'm catching up on sharing my published creations and doing so by starting with older cards that hold a special spot in my heart. Being a clean and simple kind of girl, vintage creations are not an easy task for me to accomplish. So this card is near and dear to my heart because I feel that this was a successful attempt at capturing that vintage feel. This one was published in Paper Crafts Card Creations 9...I started by stamping a Rustic White cardstock panel with Make Your Own cling stamp in Dark Chocolate. Then colored the dresses in with Copic Markers (V91, Y21 & Y32). Stamped a journaling circle in Vintage Touch Chai and a sentiment in Dark Chocolate, both are from the Journaling Circle stamp set. Then attached the panel, with dimensional adhesive, to a Fine Linen card base. Here's How: To make the yellow strip appear to wrap around the card... I started by die cutting a Fillable Frames #9 tag and trimmed a small cardstock strip to the same width, both from Harvest Gold cardstock. Attached the die cut tag to the left side of the Make Your Own stamped panel, with dimensional adhesive, and the small strip was tucked under and attached to the right side. Here's A Note: The houndstooth stamp I used is no longer available, but Background Basics: Houndstooth makes the perfect alternative. Then finished the card off with a Dark Chocolate button strung with Rustic Jute Button twine. That's it for today. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day! Maile Celebrate This Day: Stamps: Make Your Own, Journaling Circle & Background Basics: Houndstooth Ink: Dark Chocolate & Vintage Touch Chai Cardstock: Fine Linen, Harvest Gold & Rustic White Accessories: Dark Chocolate Button, Rustic Jute Button Twine, Copic Markers (V91,Y21 & Y32) & Fillable Frames #9 Die
