Hi, everyone, I’m back again with this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge! Are you ready? Here’s this week’s sketch. You can find the sketch on the MFT blog and also in the MFT forum on SCS, as well as in the weekly newsletter. The Design Team will be on hand to provide plenty of inspiration to get you started. Yes, I really did use this sketch ;-) I flipped it and also did something different for the side element—it’s just the way it turned out in the creative process. I’m using Whip Cream card stock for my base, with a mat of Steel Gray card stock under my patterned paper layer. Using the balloon from this month’s WBD Cupcake Cutie set, I stamped it on five different patterned papers, cut them out, and laid them out to see how I wanted to arrange them. Then I stamped the stems from LJD Pretty Poppies for strings and adhered the balloons, three of which I popped up on foam. I stamped the sentiment, from WTG Who’s That Birthday Girl, on Whip Cream card stock with Black Licorice ink on a Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon flag and layered it with the larger one using Steel Gray card stock. This was popped up on foam, and to finish it all off I did some sponging and added a clear jewel trio for a little balance. Here’s the inside with another sentiment from the set: And that’s it! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hey everyone! Thanks for joining me today, for the March Papertrey Ink Senior DT challenge. This time around we are bringing back Friends 'Til the End! It's been fun pulling out this unique and lovely set. Friends 'Til the End is a timeless set. It's in a class of its own, one that can fit into pretty much any different style. Today, my projects are done more in a trendy/modern style, incorporating a touch of gold. And this set gets the job done just right. Have a look!... First, my inspiration found here. For today's little duo, I found inspiration via the pink and gold combo. As well as the polka dots on the very pretty bowl above. A simple and modern card with fun elements and techniques all over it. Just the way I like 'em. The large Friends 'Til the End flower was stamped in pigment gold ink and then heat embossed in gold powder onto some sweet blush pattern paper. A couple of glitter tape strips were tucked under the flower panel. Then two cardstock strips were trimmed at two different widths. The wider strip was heat embossed with a sentiment and then attached with some dimensional adhesive. The smaller strip was adhered directly to the flower panel, for more of a flush look. Last (but not least) the tag. This sweet tag was created in a very smiler fashion as the card. Here's How: Three tags were die cut using the Tag Sale #5 die. One from pattern paper and two from white cardstock. The pattern paper and one white tag were both trimmed into two pieces and then reassembled back onto the remaining die cut tag. The large flower was then stamped and heat embossed in gold. A circle was punched from some gold glitter tape and place onto the flower center. Then the tag was finished off with a sentiment strip and tied with some silk ribbon. Well, that's it from me today. Now be sure to visit the other Papertrey Ink senior design team girls for more Friends 'Til the End goodness... Dawn McVey Betsy Veldman Heather Nichols Melissa Phillips Thanks for stopping by today! We're moving right along in the Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-Faire schedule! The day is going by so fast! Up next is a super fun challenge that involves creating something that not only looks pretty, but smells good too. Those of you...
Hello, Friends, and welcome to the first day of Papertrey Ink's April countdown! Today I have the pleasure of introducing two new sets that I designed with the misters in mind (but I hope to show that they're versatile to work for the ladies, too). Let's get to it, shall we? I'm going to start with a sporty set I put together for the baseball fan in your life. 7th Inning Stretch is a $15 set that will be available on the 15th of this month. The set includes several iconic baseball images along with a handful of sentiments to match. My father-in-law once told my husband that there is nowhere in the world that he would rather be than a ballpark. I created this card with him in mind. I started by stamping the stitched pattern onto a piece of Enchanted Evening cardstock and then die cut that with the Tag Sale #4 die. Next, I die cut the Framed Out #11 from the center of the tag, leaving the negative. The baseball stitches image is designed to coordinate with a 1.75" circle die, but it just so happens that it perfectly fits into the Framed Out shape as well. The stitches are stamped into white cardstock using Pure Poppy ink. That piece is adhered to the tag using foam tape. I created the pattern on my Soft Stone base by stamping the baseball bat repeatedly using Spring Rain ink. The sentiment was stamped in Pure Poppy before the tag was adhered to the base and embellished with Pure Poppy saddle-stitched ribbon and a Spring Rain button. This next card pairs 7th Inning Stretch with Thanks All Ways to create a simple and customizable thank you card. You could easily substitute your team's colors to personalize the card for your favorite coach. I began by stamping the baseball cap in Enchanted Evening ink onto Kraft cardstock and cut that out by hand. Next, I stamped my sentiment and masked off two rows of hexagons using the Cover Plate: Hexagons die to create a decorative strip reminiscent of home plate. I die cut my mask using post-it notes and stamped my border with the striped hexagon image from Happy Hexagons. I finished my card by mounting my cap with a bit of foam tape. The next set I would like to introduce is Handy Hardware. This set also retails for $15 and will be available beginning on April 15th. Handy Hardware celebrates tools and includes sentiments for everything from an apology to Father's Day and beyond. My first card using Handy Hardware is inspired by my dad. You see, my dad is a carpenter and a very Do-It-Yourself type of fella. For as long as I can remember he, tools, and plaid have been completely intertwined. So I went about creating a Father's Day card that would befit my papa. I started by stamping my plaid pattern using Enchanted Evening, Fresh Snow, and Pinefeather inks onto Kraft cardstock (I promise that shades of blue and brown are not all you'll see here this week - that's just how it happened to fall today). I also added a little texture with the Linen & Canvas impression plate. Next, I created a coordinating pattern by stamping the decorative bolts strip in Pinefeather ink onto Pinefeather cardstock. I adhered those two pieces to a Rustic White base and wrapped the entire card with a length of rustic jute twine. Over the twine, I mounted a square of Rustic White stock that I had stamped with the Father's Day sentiment and a frame from Framed Out #6. A die cut wrench was added to embellish the focal point. My fourth and final card today is a birthday card. I wanted to do something a little different on this one, so I die cut a pinked edge on a piece of 1/32" thick birch veneer and then stamped and embossed my sentiment with clear detail embossing powder. Next, I stained the wood with a sponge and some Dark Chocolate ink, so the sentiment really pops. I adhered that to a Rustic White card base that had been stamped with a stitched background using Ripe Avocado ink. A piece of Dark Chocolate twill adds nice texture and does a great job of hiding the impression made by the pinking shears die. Then, I die cut the saw twice. On one of the cuts I stamped using VersaMark and embossed with silver powder. On the other cut I stamped with Classic Kraft ink. I trimmed closely around the handle of the saw and adhered it over top of the silver image (by die cutting twice I was able to keep the hole in the center of the handle). The saw was then mounted to the card with foam tape. It's a little hard to tell from the photos, but the ink-stained wood gives the whole sentiment panel a really cool appearance. That's all for me today. Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you back here tomorrow for more fun with my new sets for April. See you then! And we're back around to Friday. Whoosh! Nichole Heady's {capture the moment} January PTI blog hop challenge for today is to use PTI true black (or smokey shadow) as a background or card base. I chose to make a card using true black card stock while wearing smokey shadow on my eyes. I think that counts double. To make my black background card, I used sketch #47 at Retrosketches, which is is based on a card designed by the sensational card artist, Jen Mitchell. My take on the challenge, using PTI's Harvest Berries stamp: The sentiment looks like it might also be from PTI, but I'm not sure. As so often happens, I chose my image and my sentiment chooses me. Sometimes it's the other way around. Does that happen to you? In this case, I ended up loving how the berry stem appears to flow right through the "r" in "here." I think you can see in the picture that I embossed the sentiment onto the card base, then embossed the berries on a separate sheet of card stock, cut it and trimmed it to line up above and below the sentiment (an introverted band) to reflect the sketch. I don't make a lot of black cards, but I love the true black with the white embossing powder, so I'll be creating with this idea again. Black does seem to be trending in cards. That may or may not be true, I just always wanted to write a sentence like that. What IS true is that there are a lot of cards being made with the "blackboard" technique, which makes your card front really look like a blackboard! Well it might make YOUR card look that way. I tried the technique, but I discovered it just wasn't for me. What happened was, I kept getting carried away 'erasing' and before I knew it, I had removed my entire focus pocus. Wouldn't it be funny if I submitted a card like that to a challenge with the front of it looking simply like an erased blackboard? Like the janitor came in and erased my picture when I stepped out to go to the bathroom? ~~~ I'm so delighted to have you all meet our latest new friend! Hello, Friends, and welcome to Day 2 of the April Papertrey Ink countdown! Today I am sharing more of 7th Inning Stretch as well as introducing the On The Links Die Collection. On The Links released in March of last year and almost immediately I was wishing I had dies to coordinate with my stamps. So good news for anyone that was in the same boat - they've arrived! My first card today is a Father's Day card that incorporates the golf cart and pin flag dies. I've hand cut several of those little carts, but no more! The new die collection made this card a breeze. I die cut and stamped my cart and then fussy cut the wheels and adhered them over the Aqua Mist image. Then I stamped my putting green scene and sentiment onto a piece of white cardstock before matting it with a layer of Lemon Tart striped paper that I cut on the diagonal. I mounted the focal panel to an Aqua Mist base that had been embellished with a bit of Lemon Tart Saddle Stitched ribbon and a bit of baker's twine. I am of the opinion that one little bow every once in a while isn't going to hurt anybody, so, yes, this Father's Day card has a bow on it. The golf cart and flag were mounted with a bit of foam tape and a tiny pearl was added as a golf ball embellishment. Today's second card is of the birthday variety. I recently made a similar card for my papa-in-law's birthday, but I kept it under wraps until now so I could share it with all of you. I started by die cutting several tees from Fine Linen cardstock and heat embossed each one with the tee image from On The Links. Next I die cut rolling hills from Spring Moss and Ripe Avocado patterned papers. I stamped and embossed my sentiment before adhering those to an Aqua Mist card base. I stamped my clouds with a glue pad and sprinkled on a bit of white flocking to make them nice and fluffy. Next, I tucked my tees randomly along the hills and adhered them into place. I finished the card by adding die cut letters to the tops of the tees to spell out the word "happy." Now I have a couple of 7th Inning Stretch cards to share. One of the first things I knew I wanted to do when I got my hands on these stamps was to create a varsity jacket using the stamps and the Shape Up Series: Sweater die. It turned out just the way I'd imagined it. I started by cutting my sweater die from Pure Poppy and Fine Linen cardstocks. I trimmed the sleeve from the Fine Linen cut and adhered it to the Pure Poppy layer. Then I trimmed the sleeve and waist band so they would come in a little just like a varsity jacket. I created the striped trim using Faux Ribbon and cut the collar to look more like the real thing. I added lapels and a T-shirt behind the jacket opening. Next I stamped and embossed the sentiment and added the numbers to the front of the jacket. Then I added the shiny white buttons with small circle punches and a coating of glossy accents. The whole jacket piece was then adhered to a card base that I had been cut with the Sweater die. The front of the card had so much personality that leaving the inside blank seemed like a shame, so I stamped the baseball bat in Fine Linen and the birthday sentiment in Dark Chocolate. The great thing about this card is that the colors and number can be completely customized. You could use the recipient's age, jersey number, year of birth, or year of graduation to make it even more personalized. So many possibilities! My fourth and final project today features the baseball mitt image from 7th Inning Stretch. The mitt and the small ball image in the set coordinate perfectly! I began by stamping my baseball onto Pure Poppy cardstock and heat embossing it with white powder (that way the stitching is red while the ball is white). I punched that out with a 1/2" punch and set it aside for a moment. Next, I stamped the mitt image and cut it out. The baseball was adhered into the palm of the mitt and a 1/2" epoxy dome was added to give a little extra dimension. Next I stamped the tag from Fillable Frames #9 and hand cut that as well (the coordinating die has a hole through which you would string the tag, but I didn't want that hole in this instance, so hand cutting worked just fine). I stamped my sentiment and mounted that and the mitt to a panel of striped New Leaf patterned paper (chosen to resemble the stripes mowed into the grass at a ball diamond). The patterned paper had been layered with a piece of cardstock for stability and the whole piece had been textured with the Linen & Canvas impression plate. A bit of Pure Poppy saddle stitched ribbon and a rustic jute bow were also added to embellish the panel. Everything was then mounted to a Kraft base using foam tape. That's all for me today. I hope you'll join me again tomorrow with more projects showcasing my new sets for April. See you then! Happy Tuesday! It's time for another ColourQ challenge. Arielle has done it again and given us some amazing colors to work with. That is what I love about this challenge. I would have never put these colors together. For my flowers I stamped them once on my white card panel, then I stamped an extra set of the flowers on a piece of scrap paper and hand cut them out. To give them a little extra color I used a Copic marker. And of course I had to add some dimension. I attached the white panel with foam tape and the flowers with my dots. Here are this weeks colors. I hope you will join us this week. Be sure to stop by the ColourQ and see what the rest of the design team and Arielle have created with these amazing colors. You have until Sunday July 15th at 12 noon CST to link up your creations. I can't wait to see what you do with these colors. This is the card that I made for Dawn. I used her Gran's Garden flowers, the Center Style Feminine Die, "Praying for You" from her Cheerful Heart set, her dot stencil, and inside I put a verse from New Every Morning "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness". It's already on its way to her!
Welcome back to Papertrey Ink's 10th Anniversary Celebration! For ten days, the design team will be sharing projects created with sets from each of the ten years Papertrey has been in business! This blog celebration will include lots of inspiration, contests, and of course prizes! Maker sure to head on over to Nichole's blog for all of those details! Today, we are celebrating 2013. The set that I chose to create with today might be my most favorite Papertrey set ever! And that's saying something! There is so much to love about the Pedal Pusher stamp set. I really like that you can stamp with different colors, making it easy to stamp the bike body in one color and the tires in another. But my favorite thing is the wonderful different basket fillers...so fun! I've mentioned how much I love this set, right? :-) Seriously though, it is so easy...

The event we've been waiting a year for is finally here! I am just beyond excited!!! I was able to get an early start with the hopes of keeping up with the schedule this year ... alas, there was just too much crafty inspiration to be had and tutorials to drool over. lol! The posts and videos are still free for the viewing, but the challenges aren't, so let me get right to it! In case you would like to check out all the fun for yourself, you can find it on Nichole's blog, here. My day started very early getting one of my soccer players up, ready, and out the door. She and DH left a couple minutes before 7am - perfect timing for me to place my SAF order and earn that sweet Reasons to Smile stamp set for free. * Score! * I ate my farmer's market-fresh cinnamon roll (delish!) while browsing all the sketch and color combos for the Morning Bake & Take challenge. Here are the sketch and color combos I chose: And my take: Then I started rolling out some paperclay to use later as well as get some tea boiling for the next challenge - Tea Staining! I stained some muslin fabric and promptly dumped out the tea before realizing that I wanted to also dye some laces. Hmmm. Instant coffee crystals to the rescue! I got the lace wet with boiling water and then sprinkled on some coffee crystals. The effect was neat, since I could get an overall color, or a speckled look depending on whether I mixed up the coffee or just sprinkled and let it sit. I just Adore (with a capital A) Melissa Phillips' works of heart. She is one amazingly talented lady! I made my fabric flower much like hers in the tutorial. I used some watered-down coffee to spritz my bookprint (love how that turned out) and fashioned my card after Melissa's. I love, love, love how it turned out! Thank you, Melissa! I also wanted to try Betsy's dip-dye technique using the Kool-Aid packages for coloring. I dipped an A2 size piece of white card stock into some red Kool-Aid on one side and then flipped it around and dipped the other side into some purple. It's a neat effect and I think I'll try it again with some brighter colors next time. I die cut my dip-dyed card stock with the Rainbow Stripes die and mimicked the design of this awesome card by Erin. I used the sugar-coated technique of Betsy's to glitter the die cut star. Now, the rolled dough challenge proved a bit difficult for me. It took ages to dry and then it was nearly too thick to cut. I seriously thought I might break my poor Big Shot! Late on Sunday, I did finally manage to eek out some die cut stars and heat embossed them in gold. I made this card with my DD's in mind as they both played awesome at their soccer games over the weekend and green is one of their team colors. :) So proud of those girls! The mixing mists challenge was much more fun than I'd anticipated, I mean, how could I possibly make a mist that would rival Mr. Hueys? I ended up making a mist from Hawaiian Shores ink refill and used it to spritz over a handmade chevron mask. I found the homemade mist to be a bit more translucent without any shimmer (because I opted not to add the perfect pearls). The results reminded me of the color wash look that's so popular right now. So, Nichole proved me wrong ... there is most definitely a use in my craft room for homemade mists! Onto the Sprinkle of Salt challenge. Who knew? Who knew you could use salt like a coarse glitter? I sure didn't. A heavy dose of glittery goodness makes me think of snow, so I chose to salt-up my Peaceful Pinecone image to make a festive holiday tag. Have you heard of the Gallon, Quart, Pint theory? I had. But, let you tell you, I had trouble with this challenge. The theory is pretty straight-forward. Shouldn't have been an issue, but this one took me awhile. Time to revert to your childhood. Remember way back, way, way back to when you played with Shrinky Dinks? Yep, time to revisit that art form! I took Melissa's cue and decided to make a cute jar pendant. I used green (my DD's favorite color) embossing powder to include some stars as well as silver to stamp the jar image. The resulting little jar is just so tiny and cute! On a side note - the jar ended up curling a little bit while cooling off. I was afraid to try and flatten it on account of the embossing, and when I tested it with my fingernail, it ended up smearing one of the stars a little bit - oops - still wet, I guess. I also used frosted shrinky dinks and my copic markers to make this little cutie: This was such a fun technique and there is such possibility. I can't wait to explore it more, especially with my DD's by my side. :) Next up on the schedule are the Scent-sational cards. I canNOT wait to get my grubby little craft hands on that cute stamp set designed specifically for scratch and sniff cards. My DD's thought that was the neatest idea and loved smelling the card I made ... Mmmmm, strawberry! Getting towards the end of the fun with the Limited Ingredients challenge. After I decided on a design, this one went pretty quick. I used inspiration from one of the DT (I can't find who at the moment) for the sentiment/balloon string idea, along with the angled panel idea from Maile. I love the result - festive, fun, and pretty easy! One last challenge - Sweet Sugar-Coated Embellishments. I have to say, Betsy's tutorial for glittering paper or embellishments is the best I've seen yet! The spray adhesive gives a nice even coat, which gives a nice even appearance to the glitter layer. Ever brush on some glue and then sprinkle it with glitter? Did you have good results? Well, I tried it, and bleh, the results were terrible! The glitter came out thin in some spots and denser in others. Betsy's technique worked great! Then, add that layer of clear coat like Betsy suggests, and it's pure glittery heaven. :) To wrap up the festivities, I've got a photo of all my projects along with a glimpse at my work area, including the 8"x14" spot of cleared desktop I used to make all of my creations. haha! Hope you had a great time this weekend. I know I sure enjoyed myself! I'm already looking forward to SAF 2014! :) Thanks ever so much for stopping by!

Hello Papertrey Fans! It's officially Day 1 of the Countdown for February. We've already had five days of fun with announcements and new product reveals. Now it's time get down to what you are really waiting for--the previews of February stamp sets. And maybe some handy little dies from me. Can't wait for you to see. Let's get going. I'm first featuring Melissa Bickmore's "My Mother, My Friend" stamp set and dies today. It's a nifty and pretty set to have around for the mothers and friends in your life. It's got you covered for Mother's Day and beyond this year. Great new dies too. My first card plays a lot with the frames and labels. There are two open aperture dies, one fitting inside the other, for this lovely frame. Both coordinate to stamps in the set. The smaller frame in particular has various labels that can be swapped in and out--here are two examples with "My Dear Friend" and "Mother". I stamped the large label in Raspberry Fizz on Wild Hibiscus cardstock. I topped them with patterned paper or cardstock in various colors. The bloom and vine are both dies and stamps from the set. I particularily like the sentiment in gray at the bottom--a nice thing to tell somebody near to you. My second card plays with the frames again, but in a slightly different way. The smaller frame is cut from the card front and the sentiment label placed on the inside of the card. I used both frame dies (remember, open aperture to create this open frame with Spring Rain Gingham on the front of the card. Blooms and vines create a lovely scene below. And lastly, fun with the long vine die and stamp. It's just the slightest bit wavy which helps to make it look rather organic and free form in nature. I used several cut in Aqua Mist and stamped in Hawaiian Shores to frame the word "Mother" (oooh...new dies maybe?) and a line of descriptive words that describe motherly types that is included in the stamp set. Used the new-to-us ZING! embossing powder in Mustard to make a nice match to Summer Sunrise. Rather spot on. I like how it pops against the Smokey Shadow background. Next up, I'm happy to finally share with you the "Boutique Accessory Card" and "Clever Barrette Cover" dies that I have coming out this month! Nichole's created a sweet $5 stamp set called "Boutique Accessories" to use along with them. For those of you with girls in your life, you might want to pay particular attention. This is an easy, thoughtful, and creative way to make them something special. I, myself, have a little girl and this idea was completely inspired by her. I'm always making her little hair accessories to match her outfits. I wanted an easy way to make decorated, covered snap barrettes. A die was the perfect solution. As you can see, the Clever Barrette Cover consists of three dies. Holes are included for stitching. No forcing a needle through felt (ever had that problem?) or have uneven stitching on your finished project. The guess work is done for you. Just die cut out of felt and thread a needle. You stitch the front and the back together with your choice of embroidery floss and slip a snap barrette (these are rather universal, you can find them at the grocery store, the dollar store, big box stores, or the pharmacy) through the slit in the back. Decorate the top at will. With PTI's collection of flower dies and buttons, you have limitless options when it comes to "decorating" the little girl in your life. There is an option middle cut that can be stitched between the front and back felt layers for a pinked border around the edge. Super cute in contrasting felt and gives you even more options. My blue set of barrettes use it today, the pink barrettes do not. Here's a photo of the front and back of an assembled barrette with a plain snap barrette in the middle. Once you stitch up the clever barrette cover together, it is very easy to slip the barrette in the back and take them back out again if you so wish. I'll be showing you lots more barrettes over the next few days. And we're going beyond felt a little bit. I'm downright giddy to have this die in my collection. Seriously, my motives for creating this are entirely selfish. I certainly hope you like it, but I'm just thrilled I have it for myself! So stinkin' cute. Now, of course, you need a sweet way to package up these little beauties to make them extra special. That's where the "Boutique Accessory Card" comes into play. This die comes in two pieces. There is the main card (shown here in Raspberry Fizz) and the shorter curved die with slits and holes (Limeade Ice Gingham in the above example). It is actually wider than the card so when you attach two scored flaps to the back of the card cut, it bows out to accommodate the bulk of the barrettes. Just slip your barrettes through the slits and give as a gift. Nichole designed a fun little set to go along with this die. You can see there on top it says "Just a Little Something". It's a $5 set that has three labels to be used for giving gifts on this card. Helps it look even more "boutique-y". Here's another set for you to enjoy in Aqua Mist and Vintage Cream Felt. These barrettes use the optional middle piece that gives the barrettes a pinked border. And instead of flower and leaf dies, I pulled some of the large buttons from my collection in Ocean Tides and Winter Wisteria and stacked them. They are stitched together and then hot glued onto the assembled barrette. The bowed part of the "Boutique Accessory Card" was cut out of Aqua Mist and stamped in BB: Houndstooth using Winter Wisteria ink. The main part of the card is in Winter Wisteria. I stamped a label from "Boutique Accessories" with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. And just to show you what's holding the barrettes in place, I took a photo of one off the card. There are double slits to slip the barrette through. Snap (flex) it closed and it stays in place on its own. I plan on showing you a few other lovely little baubles the "Boutique Accessory Card" can hold this week. Got a few videos planned as well to show you how the barrettes work and how to assemble the packaging in a "deluxe" fashion. Hope you are as excited as I am about this little venture. All new products are available on February 15th at www.papertreyink.com. I'll be back tomorrow morning with more. Papertrey Ink is starting its monthly countdown once again to share peeks of the new products coming out on the 15th! Today I get to introduce Framed Out #12 stamps and dies. OH BOY, you are gonna love these! Take a peek at this adorable mini polaroid style frame and herringbone stamp to match... Can you imagine framing mini photos? Seriously? So cute! I die cut several frames with Papertrey Ink cardstock and stamped them with the frame stamp to give them the cute chevron design. Inks I used are Lavender Moon, Aqua Mist, Harvest Gold and Fine Linen. Then punched out my own matching confetti with the same cardstocks. The little tiny hearts are punched out of a new die set coming out this month called "Tremendous Tags". These are just the little centers of some of the larger tags! Added a brown button to finish it off and rustic twine. Next I used only the stamp (not the die) on Classic Kraft cardstock with Classic Kraft ink and Fresh Snow ink for the centers. I used a Tremendous Tag heart die, Pure Poppy button and some October Afternoon washi tape. Sentiment is from the Framed Out #12. Really simple card to make! Last, I made a little pocket for the frame. I cut a piece of vellum, folded it in half and adhered the side and bottom, trimmed it up to match the size of the frame. And guess what I discovered? One of the new Tremendous Tags die cuts fits perfectly inside! For ink on the frame, I used Enchanted Evening with Aqua Mist cardstock for the tag. Again the tape here is by October Afternoon and I used the Strawberry Patch stamps and dies to stamp the bottom and cut the felt berry! Ready for the best news? The Framed Out #12 stamp set is only $5! Visit Betsy for sneak peeks of Heart-2-Heart #12 and Happy For You, and Nichole also! Hello, friends! It's that time :) Papertrey Ink is bringing you all new products for the April release and I get to feature one of ...
The theme of this month's PTI blog hop is Gold. Apparently, it is very trendy. I never know about these things, until I read about them. Here is our inspirational photo. I am writing and scheduling this post ahead of time, because I will be traveling a bit. I did not want to miss out on the hop, and made one of my quickest cards ever, in between spurts of packing. I think that my all time favorite PTI stamp set is Harvest Berries, and every time I see someone use it, I am reminded to pull it out and make something. In this case, I saw this card over on Amusing Michelle's blog, and decided to make a gold embossed wedding card. I stamped the branches and sentiment in Versamark ink and then embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder. Nothing more to say, because that is all I had time to do. It looks better in person, and all the gold looks the same. Enjoy the rest of the hop. I will catch up when I can. Thanks for Visiting

Welcome! Today I have a few cards to share from Papertrey Ink's April 2013 release. The stamp sets used here will be available tonight at 10pm, EST, at Papertrey Ink. Several of this month's sets are geared toward masculine cards or scrapbook pages. If you're anything like me, guy cards are more of a challenge than, for instance, floral cards; so I'm always happy to have some new masculine sets! My first card (above) has a baseball theme. Loving that big ticket look! I added a couple of lines of curved stitching because it reminded me of the stitching on a baseball. All supply lists are included. Best Day Ever! Stamps: Big Ticket Basics, 7th Inning Stretch Ink: Pure Poppy, Spring Rain, Enchanted Evening; Chamomile Distress Cube Cardstock: Blueberry Sky, Rustic White Patterned Paper: Enchanted Evening Collection Tools: Big Ticket die, sewing machine Love You, Dad Stamps: Boutique Basics: Father...
Hiya Papertrey Peeps! Day 1 of the April Countdown and I'm blogging to show you a few projects using the latest edition of Melissa's Polka Dot Parade. This month we have a fun recliner and vintage style television for Father's Day. Lots of possibilities there. (Although I've got to say, this mama enjoys her fair share of sitting in the recliner watching her favorite television shows too.) Let's jump right into showing you want you can do with this fun set. In searching for inspiration, I typed in "vintage television" in Pinterest. I got some images of televisions with the color bars on the screen for "emergency broadcasts". That's all the inspiration I needed to come up with this card. I stamped stripes from Faux Ribbon in my focal point television to create rainbow stripes. The smiley face was created from Get to the Point to match up with the sentiment from Hello, Friend. (Love the sentiments in Hello Friend, so cheeky and fun). I really wanted the rainbow television to pop, so I stuck with black and white with the rest of my card. The polka dots from Maile's new Sketched Shapes reminded me of static, which I felt was appropriate in this case. And 50's style sparkles got pulled from Birthday Bash Sentiments to match up with the vintage style television. I've got a nephew who needs to find this card in his mailbox soon. Next up, I wanted to use the recliner and matching die as intended. It's easy to imagine Dad sitting back and enjoying his favorite shows. The "Happy Father's Day" is from World's Greatest. I did some pretty tricky masking to get the individual letters of the word "relax" in the television screens without cutting the stamp apart. Here's a little visual to show you how to do the same thing on your projects. And lastly, I wanted to change the recliner up a bit so you could use any pattern paper you want with it. I created this little scene by busting out my Lighten Up stamps and dies. Perfect scale and match. Maybe Melissa had that in mind:). Clever girl. And just like at my house, there's a taupe throw tossed over the recliner. BB: Striped Sweater helped me accomplish that detail. You are also getting a glimpse of Heather's new Wonderful Words: Memories die and stamp that are being released this month. I created another sheet to show you how alter the recliner die. Let me know if you have any questions. Super easy. There you have it. I hope you can see how this little stamp set can go from Father's Day to beyond and cover lots of different occasions. For $5, you can't beat the versatility.
