Challenge and inspiration for card makers, stamping, and die cutting.
All of our March Release products are available in the MFT Online Boutique NOW! Today our team is taking a fresh look at our most recent release with inspiring ideas and innovative takes on the complete collection. We love the opportunity to look at our products with fresh eyes, envisioning entirely new ways to showcase the possibilities they present. We can’t wait to share our ideas with you so be sure to also stop by the MFT Blog to see who else is participating! Today I’m using a couple of products I didn’t get around to using during the Countdown. My first card uses the Sweet Friend Stamp Set and Die-namics in a tunnel card. The tunnel was created with watercolor wash panels cut with Elegant Rectangle STAX Die-namics and I added three tree canopies from Interactive Swing Die-namics to give the design more depth. The images were stamped on No Line Coloring card stock, cut with the coordinating Die-namics, then colored with Copic markers before being added to the tunnel and finished off with a heat embossed sentiment. ***** My second card highlights Rainy Circle Die-namics. I let this sentiment from and older set inspire my design. I cut Rainy Circle Die-namics from a watercolor wash panel and Cement Gray card stock then backed the raindrop openings with Silver Sparkle card stock. End of the Rainbow Die-namics was cut from No Line Coloring card stock and colored with Copic markers. The sun was cut with BB Magical Unicorns Die-namics from Lemon Drop card stock and positioned behind the rainbow. The sentiment is from LJD Cheerful Blessings Stamp set and was heat embossed on Heavyweight vellum and adhered with clear foam tape. Thanks so much or stopping by today! See you soon!! All products from My Favorite Things unless otherwise noted. MFT Stamps is closing out May with so much cuteness in their very fun May 2024 release! And while you have to wait until the 28th to shop, our team has got sneak peeks starting NOW! Evolving Friends is one of the new Jenoblade sets and no surprise, it's adorable!!! I might not know much about Pokemon but I do know that these critters are so cute! And the Poke Ball made a really fun shaker bit in my simple shaker card. You can see more about the May release on the MFT blog so pop by when you have a second! Hugs! Carly
My Favorite Things is my favorite company. I thought I spent every penny every month on them. I loved they dropped free shipping to $25. I used Copic sketch markers colored this teacher and rulers …

She is back today with one last December Sketch Challenge. Thanks so much for joining us, Marieke! Marieke created a multi-colored background with a simple frame to mimic the sketch. Her colored birds and mushrooms complement her color palette perfectly with a stamped sentiment banner completing her adorable design. Joy used the sketch as inspiration for her underwater scene. She kept each of the window openings the same with a soft blue ink blended background, mimicking the look of ocean water. Colorful fish and greenery complete the look with a stamped sentiment for the greeting. Keeway used the sketch layout to design a grid of adorable kittens in various poses. The added black & white polka dot background adds great contrast and really keeps the focus in her stamped images. Congratulations, Gayle! Hello and welcome back! Today I have another card to share featuring some of the new products that just came out of the MFT Vault! I am loving seeing what older products will make a return each month - so exciting! For my card today I sed the Game Controller Die-namics along with the Level Up stamp set to create a card perfect for the gamer in your life. I die cut the controller from Grout Gray card stock and then I die cut all the buttons from white so I could customize the colours with my Copic markers. I glued them all on once they were coloured and then I covered them all with clear glaze to make them look shiny and dimensional. I used Distress Inks and created a striped design on the card base with colours similar to the ones I used on the controller. I adhered the controller with foam adhesive, added a cord at the top and stamped the sentiment in black ink directly underneath. Thanks so much for stopping by today. You can see even more inspiration using the new Vault products on the MFT blog. Supplies: Share:facebook - twitter - pinterest More Inspiration from the MFT Vault!
Like clockwork, we're back with another Wednesday Sketch Challenge here at the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog! Below you'll find Sketch 214. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20. Today we are excited to welcome our very first Guest Designer at the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog. Say hello to Laura Williams! Laura's creative journey began when her mother became a Close To My Heart consultant when she was in middle school. Their days spent crafting together awakened her artistic side. In 2007 she got serious about card making and began to submit her work to magazines for publication. She went on to become a member of the last group of Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine's Go-to Gals where she learned a lot and met a bunch of amazing and talented friends. Laura got her hands on some awesome product from My Favorite Things and got the chance to create for Sketch 214. Take a look at her project! Laura used the curve of the half circle in the sketch as her inspiration to use the new Headphones Die-namics and Keep on Rockin' stamp set (released last night!). Don't you just love how she stamped the power and pause buttons for a background and then softened them with a vellum overlay? Totally cool! Our Challenge Team has also been busy crafting their little hearts out. Here's a look at their handiwork this week. Look what Alice did! By turning the sketch 90 degrees, the half circle is at the bottom. If you follow Alice, you know she does a lot of cool things with doilies, and this is no exception. The doily becomes the resting spot for the feet of the little darling and the sentiment. Notice the shadow Alice created to ground the sweet girl from the You Have My Heart stamp set. Erin's approach to the sketch is straightforward, but her bold color sense makes this card sing. Such a sweet breath of fresh air in the middle of winter with the pretty new Spring Tulips stamp set and Die-namics which released just last night. Jill's tasty treat shines with her delicious use of the brand new (released last night!) Donuts and Sprinkles stamp set and the Donuts Die-namics. I'm über impressed with her inlaid sprinkles. That girl has PATIENCE. Miriam has created a MASTERPIECE using dies, ink, and paste. First she die cut a circle to create the base of the globe, and then she die cut the globe several times to create enough thickness for a homemade stencil. Using green ink mixed with paste and her stencil, she created a totally touchable planet Earth, a perfect rendition of the sketch. I love the warm colors and images that Vera chose for her card this week! It makes me long for adventure and sunshine on my face. I also love how she took the dots in the sketch and substituted little flags instead. It really adds to her balanced (and forever cute!) design. OK, check it. Veronica turned the card base of the design at 90 degrees, but left everything else in the sketch intact. Pretty sweet idea, huh? It gets even sweeter with the addition of the brand new (released last night!) Candy Jar Companions stamp set and Candy Jars Die-namics. It's fresh and candy-licious with no worry about cavities! You have until Tuesday, February 10, at noon EST to add your link and be eligible for the prize of up to $20 in MFT Cash to be spent in the MFT boutique. Winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a chance! The weekly prize is a $15 Gift Voucher to My Favorite Things, but if you use MFT stamps and/or dies in your project, you’ll receive an extra $5. We'll also occasionally feature cool interpretations of the sketch on the blog and give shout outs to fun, unique, and noteworthy projects. Who knows? You might be SPOTTED! Welcome to the Wednesday MFT sketch challenge. If you want to see the sketch you can scroll to the bottom of this post. I took a very clean and simple approach to this sketch using some darling new Clementine papers from Cosmo Cricket. The image I used is "love you with all my heart" from the Pure Innocence collection at MFT! A little peek at the inside where I continued with the vertical format that is on the front. Below are some step by step photos of the copic marker coloring process. My light source is coming from the upper right of my image. Skin tones....I stayed fairly light with my skin tones as the whole card has a light feel to it. The dress, shoes and hair clip. I did a cast shadow of the heart...you will notice later on that I looked at my shadows again and decided to lengthen it. Here is the heart....I used the R05 very sparingly as it is quite vibrant and high in value. The hair....quite simple to suit the image. I only used the (half strength) Y21 on the right of the image as that is where my light source is. I added the R11 to the left of the image for some shadowing. My Y21 is a custom blend of half blender solution and half Y21 refill. I find this mix easier to fade away to white. So here is the sketch! If you want to play along be sure to enter the keyword "MFTWSC37" to your post on Splitcoast Stampers. The forum for the chatter on this sketch can be found HERE. Want to see what the other DT members came up with? Check out Kim's blog for the list..... Copic Notes: I am off to Ottawa this weekend teaching copic certifiications so my blog will be quiet.....see you next week!
Welcome to our very first sketch of December! Let's embrace a new month of creativity. Below you'll find Sketch 310. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20. Join me in welcoming Emily Leiphart as our Guest Designer this month! Let's see how Emily interpreted her first sketch with us: Emily had fun creating this cute card for Sketch 310 using the brand new Our Story stamp set. She loves to read and says this is her new favorite stamp set. I love how she created the scallop in the sketch using the new Stitched Peek-a-Boo Window & Edge Die-namics and used the new Star Grid Cover-Up to partially dry emboss her focal point panel! To see how she created her card, you can watch a video HERE. Thanks for joining us this month, Emily. The My Favorite Things Creative Team has been busy getting creative! Let's see what they have up their sleeves for Sketch 310! Jody incorporates cool hues with the fabulous and brand new Wavy Coloring Book Background stamp for the main panel of this week's sketch. And she finishes it off with a lovely sentiment using the new Kind Words stamp set and Kind & Kindness Die-namics. Anna's scalloped border is shrunken for a daintier look, and she uses the small horizontal rectangle of the sketch to feature her sentiment and a cute little piggie from the Hog Heaven stamp set. The Circle Burst stencil adds some whimsy as a background on this pastel beauty. Instead of a scallop on the left, Vika uses the File Folder Edges Die-namics. It works so well with the puppy's tail and stack of books from the main scene overlapping it. The Typewriter Text Background stamp is a perfect complement to the scene she created with the Our Story stamp set and Die-namics. Torico's frosty take on sketch 310 features an adorable smiling polar bear in an icy setting replete with icebergs and a snowflake. This sweet card is sure to make you smile! The gingham and scalloped edge add to the charming nature of her design. Looks like Julie and Jody were on the same wavelength with Sketch 310! Like Jody, she uses the Wavy Coloring Book Background stamp, but hers sizzles with warm hues. And like Jody she finishes it off with a lovely sentiment using the new Kind Words stamp set and Kind & Kindness Die-namics. Congratulations, Kevin Bray! You can enter your cards for this week's challenge in the Inlinkz Link Up at the bottom of this post. We're welcoming a brand new guest designer to the Challenge & Inspiration blog. Join us in extending a warm hello to Raluca Vezeteu! Raluca created a colorful fall scene inspired by the sketch layout, featuring the new Sending Blessings stamp set. We love the gorgeous colors represented in the sky - they're the perfect backdrop for her beautifully colored image. Barbara created a framed scene in the center of her card design complete with a cloudy sky, rolling hills, a couple of trees and one of the adorable new giraffe images from the Playful Giraffes stamp set. A stamped sentiment banner adds a bold greeting to her card while keeping her design similar to the sketch layout. Amy featured the Playful Giraffes on her card as well but decided to fill her frame with a trio of the delightful characters rather than one. Gorgeous ink blending adds a colorful landscape to the scene and a simple stamped sentiment completes her fun and playful design. Congratulations, Tina! Welcome to a new sketch from the MFT Challenge & Inspiration Blog. We're so glad you've decided to pay us a visit, and we hope that you'll be inspired! Below you'll find Sketch 304. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20. Join me in welcoming back May Park one last time as our Guest Designer this month! You can visit May's blog Mayholic Design for more inspiration. Let's see how May interpreted her last sketch with us: What a riot of festive fun May created around the oval of Sketch 304! She used small stamps from the Beast Friends and Merry Everything stamp sets to surround the sentiment. I absolutely adore the pop of red for her heat embossed secondary sentiment. Fabulous! The My Favorite Things Creative Team has been busy getting creative! Let's see what they have up their sleeves for Sketch 304! A strip of colorful patterned paper on the right (like the sketch) paired with a colorful rainbow contained in the oval of the sketch make Barbara's design a delight to behold. So cheery! Oh, my! Donna's coloring on the sweet girl from our Season's Tweetings stamp set is the perfect centerpiece in the oval. Her patterned papers add to the whimsy of the design while still allowing her expertly colored focal point to be the star of the show. Clever much, Jodi? Oh my goodness, the fun things you can create with products from My Favorite Things! Pairing a pumpkin from the Fall Friends stamp set with the Coffee Cup Die-namics and a sentiment from the Recipe for Happiness stamp set gives you one delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte. Not basic AT ALL! Eeek! Santa will be here before you know it, and Karolyn has her sweet grandbabies in mind with this quirky take on Sketch 304. The Santa Suit Die-namics makes BIG festive impact in traditional red. Keeway has cornered the market on cotton candy cuteness with this pastel and gingham dream of a design featuring the sweet woodland fairy from the Beautiful Girl stamp set. I love how she decorated the oval frame with delicate flowers to add just a little bit more to her card. Our sweet yeti from the Beast Friends stamp set is enjoying a mug of delicious friendship on this adorbs card created by Torico. I love the cool colors she's placed on the right side of her design to accent the delightful BFF in the center of her card. Our designers totally ROCKED this sketch! I gasped when I saw Kimberly's design. She features our Mini Royal Roses and Royal Leaves Die-namics to the left of the oval surrounded by copper sparkle. I am enamored by her rich color combination which she drew from the striped patterned paper. So pretty and elegant! Congratulations, beru-crafts!
