Whew! What a flurry of activity here on the ole Power Poppy blog with the Enchanted Garden Release, eh? It's been quite the exciting week with so much eye candy that I am sure thankful that this kind of "candy" doesn't come with a calorie count! We'd all be sunk! ;-) Being that there has been so much going on, I thought it would be fun to do a bit of a rewind on some of this past week's events and give you a little creative jolt! That way, if you missed some of the goodies, you have a chance to go back and check them all out! So, let's get on with this week's Creative Confetti and.... HOW TO PLAY: Well happy stampers, it is just as easy as the graphic says! Just take a little hop through our release week and if you stumble upon a card or technique that inspires you, use it as a launching pad to create a card in your own stamping space! I know that I have been more than inspired this past week! There have been so many cool techniques showcased that I thought I would share a few as potential inspiration points for YOU! DID YOU SEE? Ardyth Percy-Robb had a great video and post HERE on spotlight stamping! Why not try to put an image in the spotlight and use her creation as inspiration? Sally Allnock created a handful of monochromatic creations that are jaw dropping! Check them out HERE and, who knows, maybe they will help spark inspiration in one of your future creations! Therese Calvird created a buzz with her creation by using just one image and one bold sentiment! She just did a little turn, stamp and repeat! Here's a peek below but if you want a little more in the way of details, just click HERE! And, last but not least, this grouping of cards really knocked my socks off with their crisp and clean simplicity. In fact,I didn't get to make a sample for this challenge but I am thinking this one below might be my inspiration! Kelly Griglione created interest by masking off a section of her card -- just enough space to add a sentiment. All I have to say is WOW! I love this look. So clean and classy! So, there you have it, folks! TONS of inspiration for you! We hope you take a trip back through this week's blog rolls in search of a fun technique, a cool layout or a fun color combo and be inspired! Once you find that dose of inspiration, simply create and then link up your creation below! Being that this is the first challenge of July, we do need to take a break and put all the names of those happy stampers who played along with us during the month of June and draw a lucky name! After all the names were thrown into the virtual hat, random.org drew this number.... And that means the winner is..... **** KATHY ASPER **** Kathy is a stamper who I love to call "prolific!" She creates -- it seems -- non stop! Every time I visit her blog, I see a half dozen new creations all handmade with love and creativity! Take a look at her winning creation below! Cute, huh? Hi all! Power Poppy's Bloom Brigade is here on this fine Friday to kick start your weekend with a little card making creative inspiration! And, for my creation, I couldn't help by reach for one of Power Poppy's newest stamps called.... Sunny Harvest! Did I mention I LOVE sunflowers???? I used a mix of Authentique, BasicGrey and (gosh, I don't know what the polka dot piece is!) something from my scrap stash. I stamped the bits of wreath from the set, grabbing a 2-1/2" punch and punching away. The "Thinking of You" sentiment was punched with a 1-1/4" circle punch accented with BG0000 Copic Marker and a wee bit of Antique Linen Distress Ink. My main image was colored up using Y21, Y23, Y32, Y35, R27, R21, G20, G24, E25, YR04, YR07, and YR18. Then again, I used BG0000 to shade around my image. The rest is matting it all up! I used some Teresa Collins Enamel Dots, a little bit of paper piercing, some May Arts yellow chevron ribbon and some May Arts twine. The notebook paper edge was done thanks to a die (tried to find it over on Spellbinders but it must be discontinued!) And.... Ta da!!! Fini! Here's a close up! Before I let you go, just in case you missed it, Power Poppy took center stage over at the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog with their Card Cafe Thursday! And today, there's another surprise! Head on over to their blog HERE to the and see how YOU could win a....... That's right! A $25 gift certificate to the Power Poppy Shop! Who wouldn't want one of those? Hello there and Happy Friday to you! I hope all has been going well with you! I have a quick little card to share with you for today's Power Poppy Friday inspiration. I chose to use the Simply Camellias stamp set for my image and the Soothing Sympathy stamp set for my sentiment. I started by stamping my image with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink on a die cut of rustic white card stock. After coloring the image with Copics, I stamped the sentiment then stitched a strip of patterned paper down the left side. Next, I added some shimmer with a Wink of Stella clear brush pen. All that was left was to add a bit of sheer ribbon and adhere it to a card base. The finished size of this card is 3 5/8" x 4 7/8". So that is all for my card today but a couple of my Bloomie sisters, Kathy Jones and Cindy Lawrence, have some pretty amazing creations for your Friday inspiration so make sure you check them out...and leave a little blog love while you are there. And hey....today the newest Power & Spark challenge is being introduced. The amazingly talented and Cindy Lawrence is our hostess this month so make sure you check this out over on the Power Poppy blog! Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope to see you again soon....until then, take care! :) ~Katie Copics used: RV000, RV81, RV83, RV85, RV89, E000, E01, E42, E93, E97, Y15, G29, G40, G43, G46, YG91, BG0000, BG02, B000, B00.
Hello friends!! It is day two of our Power Poppy sneak peaks, and for this day we're focusing on a new set called Pure Prairie Spirit. It features the large Digital bouquet from Pure Prairie Bouque
I don't know about you, but I love little vignettes that just share a slice of life -- no matter what it be. Maybe it's a glass of tea cozied up next to your favorite book? Maybe it's a crossword puzzle that's waiting to be solved beside your favorite pot of flowers? These images share snapshots in time and Power Poppy's newest stamp set captures these slices of life just so beautifully! Oh my goodness? I just can't take how cute that little parakeet is perched up on those whimsically stacked teacups! This set -- Short Stacks -- offers three different and darling vignettes plus some fun-filled sentiments that are perfect for birthdays, cards that hope to deliver a little happiness or a note to a friend you'd love to catch up with! On to my creation! When I first saw this image above, I had to laugh. When I was growing up, my mom adopted her late sister's parakeet "Butchie" -- this darling bird looked exactly like I colored this one up to be. He would do this little wiggle move with this head and make all of us laugh! This image brought back some fun little memories! On to the deets! I stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black and then started to color it up with my Copic markers using these: YG00, YG03, YG05, YG13, YG0000, B01, B04, G24, G21, G20, R81, R83, R85, W00, W01 and BG0000. You can't really see but there is a little sparkle from a Sakura sparkle gel pen at the center of the flower and along a portion of that bottom cup. The papers are a mix of BasicGrey (Lemonade) plus Echo Park Fine & Dandy. The sentiment from the set was stamped on a 1-1/4" punched circle and matted on a 1-3/8" punched circle. Add a little Hug Snug White Ribbon and a little bling and... ta da! Done! And, here's a close up of that sweet 'lil birdie! And that, my friends, is it! I honestly can't wait to use every image in this set since they are all just so sweet! In the meantime, the Bloom Brigade has some fanciful creations they would LOVE to share! So, hop on over and see..... Christine Okken Dawn Burnworth Julie Koerber >>> you are here! Katie Sims Stacy Morgan Tosha Leyendekker Power Poppy Blog >>> for more on Marcella's inspiration! Tomorrow's sneak is one that's big on impact! I honestly fell in love with the concept behind this set and think there will be so many fun ways to put this one to use. Hello crafty friends! I'm back in full Christmas mode with today's card. In fact, this one was so quick to create that I will probably make a few of them. My Christmas card goal is 40 this year, and I...
GOOD MORNING POWER POPPY FANS! I'm back today with another Inspire Me Monday blog post. It's hard to believe that it's already the last week of January and we're coming up on yet another holiday. I don't usually send out Valentine's Day cards, but I do send out friendship cards. So I wanted to make something that gave a nod to the holiday, but was versatile enough to be used at other times of the year. So let's take a look at today's project! I decided to feature one of the images from the Va-Va-Valentines Digital Stamp set. The set includes six illustrations and four sentiments so you're bound to find something to fit the occasion. For my project I used the "biggest fan" illustration. I colored the image with Copic markers (see list below) and kept the card design relatively simple. Speaking of which -- I have a habit of coloring first and then looking for design paper to coordinate with my image. Why? For me, the fun is in the coloring so I always want to jump right in. But that also means that I spend a lot of time trying to coordinate paper after the fact. This time, I actually decided on the layout and the papers BEFORE coloring the image. And of course, it was much easier to pull the card together. Duh! New to digital images? We've got you covered! Check out this DIGITAL TUTORIAL by Julie Koerber with creative tips for working with our digital images as well as this step-by-step tutorial by the Bloom Brigade’s Allison Cope for working with digital images using GIMP, a free downloadable photo-editing program. And I have a YouTube video showing show I use Microsoft Word to print out digital images. If you missed any of the previous Inspire Me Monday posts, just click HERE to scroll through all the fabulous projects and.... get ready to be inspired! Thanks for stopping by! Hey there Soul Sisters! :) Did you enjoy Power Poppy's Day 1 Release of the Color Me Grateful collection? Well just hold on to your head phones, 'cause today's release is going to have you reminiscing about good times for sure! Let's take a peek at Well Played... Bringing back fond memories? I had a boat load of those 45 rpm adapter thing-y's but I would be hard pressed to find one of them now. When I saw that darling little back pack and the "soul sister" sentiment, I knew right away that I would be using them first! Not too long ago, Matt and I went to a Train concert and so I thought it would be fun to play off of their song, "Hey, Soul Sister" for this card. I started by inking up the back pack in Memento's Tuxedo Black in and stamping on to Papertrey Ink's Rustic White card stock. I colored the image with Copics and fussy cut it out. Next, I rummaged through my embarrassingly large 6x6 paper pad collection to find just the right paper....I spotted this darling bordered print from My Mind's Eye's "Dolled Up" pad but the 6x6 size was throwing things off. To keep the border all the way around, I cut the paper in half along one of the plank seams then overlapped it to a 4" width and sewed a double seam along the plank pattern. Next I trimmed a bit off the top and bottom and went around with a zig zag stitch. The card size ends up being just a hair under 4" x 5 1/2". I adhered this panel to my card base and then die cut out a couple of sheets of the ledger patterned paper from My Mind's Eye's "The Sweetest Thing-Tangerine" pad using a Papertrey Ink's Spiral Notebook Page die. For my letters, I used another paper from the "Dolled Up" paper pad and Papertrey Ink's Block Alphabet dies. I went over the letters with my Wink of Stella Clear brush and then coated them in Ranger's Glossy Accents and set them aside to dry. Once dried, I assembled all of my pieces and fiddled around with them until I liked the arrangement, stamped the sentiment, then adhered everything down and attached the assembly to my card. For a finishing touch of shine, I added some more Ranger Glossy Accents to the walkman window and the cassette tape window, a bit of Ranger Stickles in Cotton Candy to the little heart patch on the back pack, and a touch of my Atyou Spica Clear glitter pen to the buckle and zipper pulls. Don't you just love all of the little details on this back pack? It was so much fun to color!! And you should see the other fun elements to this set....I am sure you will spy several of them along the hop today. So are you tappin' your foot or hummin' a snazzy tune yet? :) Make sure you check out what all of my incredibly talented Bloomie sisters have created for your little hop down memory lane today and leave them a little love while you're there. I hope you will be able to pop back in tomorrow for Day 3 of Power Poppy's August Release...and brace yourself for more Marcella bloomin' goodness! These images will have you positively swooning! Until then, take care! :) Allison Cope Christine Okken Cindy Lawrence Kathy Jones Katie Sims
Hello folks! The Power Poppy sneak peeks are here and when it comes to this first set -- we say "It's about time!!!" Shouldn't a company named after a certain flower have that flower in its line up? We say YES! So, without further ado..... Poppies is a much awaited set featuring not only two breath taking florals begging to be colored up in bold shades but four swoopy sentiments that try to pop some love and beauty into life! There's a big story behind the ginger jars that Marcella drew into this set, so you'll have to go over to the Power Poppy Blog while hopping to read up on it! On to my creation! Can I just say I love the orientation of this illustration? Just dramatic and beautiful -- like those poppies are tiny faces just trying to find some sunshine! I stamped my image using Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored it up with Copic markers. I reached for these colors! R01, R21, R32, R35, G20, G40, G43, G46, BV21, BV23, BV35, Y21, and YR000. And here, sweet stamping friends, is a close up! The rest is just matting it all up! I should mention, the sentiment is also from this fabulous set -- isn't it perfect??? Okay, moving on! I used some of my scraps from my scrap bins. I know some of this is a mix of My Mind's Eye but some pieces were so small. They just seemed perfect though. I added a little paper piecing and a few candy dots from Stampin' Up in red and yellow. Add a few snippets of decorative paper with notched ends and....ta da! Done! Hi there everybody and welcome back! Have you enjoyed all of the Power Poppy festivities this week? Boy, that Marcella really has outdone herself....yet again! Guess what? All of these new stamp sets will be available today in the Power Poppy store! That's right...you can go make these sets your own today! But before you do, the Bloom Brigade gathered for one last hop to preview the sets again....so let me show you my card before you jet outta here, k? :) I just had to use the large magnolia image from the Planning for Magnolias set....isn't she gorgeous? I've said it many a time, but it bears repeating....that Marcella really knows her way around a bloom, doesn't she?! There are sooo many varieties of magnolias...here in Georgia, they are everywhere! In the spring, the tulip shaped magnolias really steal the show. There is one tree that I make a point of driving by each season to see because it is so spectacular....and huge! Here is a picture I took this past spring with my cell phone.....WOW, right? :) Oops, gotta little distracted there from my card, but I just had to show you this tree because she was the inspiration for how I colored up the blooms. So, I stamped the image with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink onto white card stock and colored it with Copics. Next, I fussy cut it out.....it took a wee little bit to do that, but I love how it looks on the card. The card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I layered an embossed panel from a Stampin' Up! embossing folder. Next, I used some new dies from My Favorite Things for the sentiment panel. I stamped my sentiment from Happy Crabapple set with Smokey Shadow ink from Papertrey Ink. The cross stitch edged die cut panel was antiqued by sponging on some PTI Chamomile ink and then I shaded it by sponging on Ranger Distress Inks in Weathered Wood and Milled Lavender. I added an additional white panel edged with my Krylon 18KT Gold Leafing pen between my sentiment panel and the scallop edged panel. I sponged on some additional Chamomile ink onto all of my layers and then assembled them. To adhere my fussy cut magnolias, I used Collal, which is amazing when you want to pop up your fussy cut items and give them some added dimension. I kind of rounded some of the blooms around my finger before I adhered it down and the Collal keeps it in the shape that I molded it to.....pretty neat, huh? Yep, I love that stuff! :) For the final bit of sparkle, I used my Atyou Spica clear glitter pen and my Wink of Stella Clear brush pen.....I don't think I was able to capture the sparkle in my photos, but it is there, I promise! :) I do want to mention that this may be my first card where there is not a trace of a button, or stitching from my machine, or ribbon....hmmm, eerie, huh? I can't quite believe it either. So there it is, my little card for the last hop of February's release. I can tell you that my Bloomie sisters have been up to their usual brilliant card designing, so make sure you check out all of the gorgeousness that they have to share with you....and leave them a little blog love while you're there. Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you'll pop in again soon, and until then....take care! :) Allison Cope Christine Okken Cindy Lawrence Julie Koerber Kathy Jones Katie Sims

And here's a look at my finished card! Since Valentine's Day is coming up in a few weeks, I thought this digital image - Follow Your Heart - would be a perfect fit! After printing my image on Neenah Classic Crest cardstock, I colored it up with Copics and used a mix of light reds and deep rose shades. I also added a little bit of glitter glue before fussy cutting the image. The rest is just matting it all up! I used scraps that I had in my decorative pink paper folder, mixing and matching and die cutting along the way. The heart die is an old one from Spellbinders called Spellbinders Lace Hearts. I added the sentiment also from the Follow Your Heart set and created a flag similar to the one in the sketch. Add a little razzle dazzle with the help of some rhinestones and... ta da! Done! Just that easy! I love sketches for just this reason -- it takes all the guesswork out of creating and lets you focus on some of the other fun parts of card making -- like picking the right papers, adding just the right touches and... Hi there my stamping friends! Welcome back for Day 2 of Power Poppy's August stamp release! Today we are featuring In Praise of Sunflowers. I'll bet she looks familiar to you! :) Marcella brought back her incredibly popular Sunflower digital images and combined them with some sweet sentiments. For my card, I chose the sunflower bouquet in a vase. I stamped the image with Memento's Tuxedo Black ink on to a die cut panel and colored it up with Copics. I added a little shimmer with a Wink of Stella clear brush pen. My card base is a couple of simple patterned paper layers with a punched trim, ribbon and button. Some stitching adds a little extra detail. To finish it off, I adhered my colored image panel. Oh my goodness, how I love this image. It was so much fun to color up! All of those beautiful details that Marcella is so famous for definitely make this image a show stopper. The finished size of this card is 4 1/8" x 5 3/8". The set has some sweet sentiments in mixed fonts which I l-o-v-e! I am trying to do a little better about showing a photo of the inside of the card.....I have been inspired by my lovely Bloomie sisters, Cindy Lawrence and Tosha Leyendekker. Don't you just love those sentiments?! Not sure if I mentioned it or not, but I do! ;) I also love this image stamped in yellow! No coloring whatsoever and she still looks stunning. So that is all for my little card today, but once again, my a-mazingly talented Bloomie sisters have quite a hop for you so make sure you check them all out and leave a little blog love while you are there. Don't forget to check out the post on Power Poppy's blog for some insight into Marcella's lovely images for this stamp set. Hello there, friends — welcome to the reveal of the second collection of brand new images from Power Poppy. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, these illustrations and sentiments were drawn by hand, by me, with supreme inspiration after a lull in my creativity. I felt so grateful to have the flow of drawing, I hardly got up from my spot in the window as I illustrated these special images. This collection, all that spilled from my fingertips, is available now for YOU, and I hope it brings you great joy. I first named this release Quiet Christmas, because with all of the heaviness of the pandemic, and the politics, upheaval, restlessness... this year will undoubtably be quieter. It may also end up being a more meaningful Christmas. A season where we are called to Reflect, Renew, and Rejoice. We have FIVE more stamp sets to add to the FIVE we shared a few weeks ago. I will be recapping everything at the end of the release, because I don't want you to miss a single set. The Bloom Brigade created the most wonderful array of cards, and it all just gets me in the mood to make things!! Introducing: Forest Fellas I’ve gone and drawn it... Power Poppy’s first set of forest friends outfitted in winter wear. If you have half as much fun coloring them as I did illustrating them, you’ll be in for a real treat. This LARGE 6 x 8" set is double the size of our standard sets, which allows for each critter— owl, moose, bear, and fox — to amply fit on a card front. These images are great for Holiday cards, but truly, they work all winter long. With "wild" phrases, snowflakes, snowy trees, and a trail of hearts, you can come up with all manner of sweet scenes. Sentiments were a collaboration between the Bloom Brigade and me — the ladies had so many clever contributions! Forest Fellas features a bundled-up barred owl complete with fun puns: "Owl always be here for you" and "Thanks for owl you do". My merry moose has a wreath of berries and an extra sprig for chomping has a coordinating phrases as well: "Merry Christ-moose" and "I really moose seeing you". The skiing fox with a sly expression has "Hello foxy" and "My silver fox". And lastly, the bear with his coffee cup and coveralls is ready to be your Beary best friend. (Along with "Being apart is so hard to bear" and "Warm Bear Hugs".) Have fun with this one. Hello creative friends!! I'm finally back to share another Power Poppy card with you! It's featuring a new digital image called Black-Eyed Susan. I took creative liberty and made mine white with a mottled gray background. I started coloring it with yellows, oranges and deep reds and just wasn't feeling it. So white they are. I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the stamen tips too. Unfortunately, as always, it doesn't photograph well. I wanted this card to be for my daughter's birthday, so instead of using the sentiments that come with this set (they are fabulous by-the-way), I added a "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Power Poppy Go Wild clear set. For my card base, I embossed a panel and added some Pure Platinum Nuvo Embellishment Mousse to give it a gilded effect. It has just the right amount of shine in real life. I colored some black stamens with a Silver Leafing Pen (Krylon), so they would match the flower stamens in the image a bit better, and added it to a seam binding bow. Copics: Flower ~ BV31, N5, N3, N1 Leaves ~ BG96, BG93, BG90, YG11, Background ~ N7, N3, N3, N1, N0 That's it for me. For some more inspiration check out the following Bloom Brigaders participating. A friend of ours was married last weekend and it was lovely to see them commit their lives to each other. They wrote and spoke some beautiful meaningful and personal vows that were very touching. I’m not usually big on hand written vows because I have seen them not say enough - or try to promise the moon, but these were lovely and sacrificial, real and authentic. A beautiful expression of their covenant to each other. I created this design for their wedding card with Power Poppy’s Abundant Petals, which is abudantly gorgeous! I always have a hard time narrowing down which parts of this set I want to use. I stamped the peony, ranunculus florals and leaves onto Strathmore Cold Pressed watercolour paper with Distress Ink in Tea Die ink so the lines would fade a bit when watercoloured. Watercolouring is done with Daniel Smith Watercolours using Quinachridone Coral, Quinachridone Rose, Quinachridone Gold, Hookers Green, Jadite Green, Phthalo Turquoise, Lunar Violet and and Quinachridone Red. All of the elements were done with time between layers so that I could build up some colour vibrance in the blooms. I used the Coordinating Dies for this set to put it all in pieces that I could work with to form the bouquet. I’m not a flower designer so it take me a little bit of time to fiddle with it until I get an arrangement I like. Then I took a quick picture of the way I liked it and worked on the background. I washed in some soft and watery Quinachridone Gold and Quinachridone Coral to the background, adding a bit of Quin. Rose as I went. After it was all dry I took some light washes of colour to paint in some leaves and Ranunuculus into the background so it looks like it’s in a field of flowers, or part of a larger bouquet. Just the soft suggestion of painted flowers really makes a lovely difference in the overall card. Here you get a better look at the background, and the brushed gold sequins to accent and the embossed sentiment from another Power Poppy set, Dream Wedding. I splashed some leftover paint and shimmery gold spray at the end to complete the design. Finished card is about 4 3/4 by 6” completed. Thanks for popping by! If you are looking for the Graphic 45 Raining Cats and Dogs Mini Album project, please click HERE. Happy Friday, Colorists and Card Makers! The Power Poppy Team is here with another Friday Fun Day! In other FUN news, the Bloom Brigade and the Instant Gardeners are now one BIG team called THE POWERHOUSE! How cool is that! We will be reintroducing ourselves with some fanfare as soon as we can! Stay tuned! Here is my Fun Friday project! I confess that I have had this Well Hello Dahlia digital image in my stash for a long time and never printed and colored it. Then, a few months ago, I colored it...and lost it! I found the image the other day in a stack of this and that, but it had a stain on it! {Coffee or chocolate perhaps?!} I ended up fussy cutting around the edge in order to save it! The card is a standard A2 size (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") made of black cardstock. I colored the image with Copics, but did not keep a list, or if I did, I cannot find it! {I know, I am getting very sloppy with the blog content!} Please note that this digital stamp set contains FIVE images and is on SALE for a measly $2.99 right now! I fussy cut around the image and then used foam tape to pop it off the card. The sentiment is from the Farmer's Market clear set (SOLD OUT). The background is an embossing folder that I sponged with various blue Distress Inks. The embossing folder is a Tim Holtz folder called Ink Splats. I have had this in my stash for AGES and I am not sure I've ever used it! Shocking! I am frankly sick of buying things, only to never have time to use them, then buying more NEW things! I've realized that not only is it a waste of my family resources to do that, but that I am DROWNING in stuff! I have all this cool stuff that I never have a chance to share with you! I am going to be taking some time to sort, purge, donate, and sell some of this excess! Stay tuned! I love the little bit of dimension that the embossing and the raised image give the card. Simple, but not too plain! I am learning to embrace simple! Well, a little hug perhaps, not a full embrace! {giggle} I tied on a little white twine to finish off the card. I think it's so bright and fresh looking! FOR MORE INSPIRATION Please visit the Power Poppy Blog to see all the other projects from the team! Allison (this is a MUST SEE project!) Hello all and welcome to Day 3 of Power Poppy's Swing Into Summer Release! Aren't the stamps too much fun? I sure think so and this next set is no exception! Ready to see? Oh... there are so many colors and styles of these easy to care for plants! And now, you can have these fun and trendy plants on your cards and creations with this set called Sassy Succulents! This 4 by 6" set features not only this beautiful large grouping of Hens & Chicks but some adorable little planters featuring different kinds of these succulents! I can't wait for you to see these cuties! I have a handful of them featured on my creation -- so let's get to it! Aren't these little pots of plants adorable? Me thinks so! I stamped them a row using Espresso Truffle Memento Ink and then colored them each up with Copics. I promised to try to take a photo of the markers when I have so many involved. I made the mistake of just grabbing markers, using them and putting them back! Here's a peek at some of them -- YG00, YG21, YG23, YG23, B70, B72, BV00, V04, G11, G21, G24, G28, C00, C01, C03, C05, E97, YG61, YG63, RV21, RV32, RV35, W00, W01, W03 and BG0000, After I colored up the image, I did sponge on some Antique Linen and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks around the outside. I did that with the sentiment too after I punched it out with a Stampin' Up punch. I matted it all up, added some paper piercing and some fun little self stick candies (Stampin' Up). Oh, I almost forgot. On the far right cactus, I did add some Raspberry Fizz Flower Soft for a little something extra. I thought this would be a fun way to add some razzle dazzle! And that, my friends is it! Here's a close up of the sentie -- love that message! Before I go, I thought I'd share one of the succulents growing right now on my back patio... Moss Rose a.k.a. Portulaca. I just love the bright and bold color of these little blossoms and they just don't die in this hot Montana summer heat! ;-) With that little splash of summer fun, why not head on over to the Power Poppy blog HERE -- there you'll find some of Marcella's inspiration for this set! Hello friends! If you were over on the Power Poppy blog earlier this week, you might have spotted this post. For those who weren't -- you're in luck! I have some fresh creative eye candy to share and it's something YOU can have fun with as well if you play along with me for this week's...... If you didn't know it, every Tuesday, yours truly helps host a color-fueled challenge that's a super fun way to stretch your creativity AND get some free stamps too if you're chosen as one of Power Poppy's guest hostesses! It's called HUES TO USE and all you need to do is use this little trio of colors in your next card or project. Yep, just that easy! MOVING ON TO THE LATEST COMBO! When Marcella spotted this amazing swirl of color above, she was at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in our nation's capital. This, my friends, is Tight Malachite and as Marcy said when she first set her sights on it, "Dare you not to swoon!" Well, I did indeed swoon and then I decided this would be a wonderfully fun color combo for.. HUES TO USE! I'll admit, it's a bit tricky at times to pull off monochromatic color combos. But, you know what? I know you can do it! And, I can't wait to see how you pull it off! Want to play along? Just click HERE for all the deets! Want to see how I took these colors for a whirl? For starters, I picked up Power Poppy's Succulent Singles and Prairie Cheer stamp sets (for the sentiment). I stamped two of the smaller leaves directly on my decorative paper and then, stamped a bunch onto white cardstock to cut out later. Actually, I could have used the Succulent Singles Die Set that goes with this stamp set but I had a lapse in judgment and forgot to do that! EEK! Now, here's the fun part. I decided that instead of letting ink play a prominent role in my creation, I would heat emboss. I dug deep into my drawer of embossing powders. Deep! I have so many embossing powders and many of them are more than 15 years old -- so underused! Take a look at the three powders I picked. They are from a company called BMuse. The company is still around but no longer makes these amazing colors of embossing powder. I have Copper, Aged Copper and Bronze. Here's a peek at what they look like, pre-emboss. And, because you really shouldn't use Copic Markers with embossing powder (I hear that it damages the tip of your marker), I decided to reach for my Distress Markers and picked up these colors below. I never color directly onto my image when using Distress Markers. I scribble them onto a plastic palette or even a large acrylic block and then pick up the marker with either a blender pen or water brush. This time I used my Dove Blender pen. I love how this allows you to add color gradually and almost with a watercolor effect. And here's a close up of how those embossing powders turned out! It's so hard to photograph the metallic sheen but they are really quite fun in real life. The Aged Copper has that bit of navy in it, which picks up on the navy in the base portion of my card. I love that blue tint, the distressed bronze and the copper. LOVE! And here's a little better shot of the coloring! I love the almost dreamy wash on each petal. And, to be honest with you? I just scribbled on the color -- didn't really spend a ton of time on it! Isn't that the best? And that, my friends, is it! Now it's your turn to take these colors and put our own spin on them! After you're done, don't forget to link up your creation below and let us all see your take on this color combo challenge! But, guess what? This isn't the only active challenge right now over at Power Poppy! Today, Ms. Ally unveiled a brand new Power & Spark Challenge and it's a super fun one! Check it out! That's right, all you need to do is be inspired by a piece of fabric, a fabric look, and then, create using a bit of that inspiration! You can read Ally's details HERE! I happen to know some of the "Bloomies" are on standby, just waiting to share a bit of their creativity with YOU! So, stop on by to these lovelies if you will! Hello Power Poppy Friends! Today I am bringing you Berry It Digital Stamp. I couldn't make the August 25th post to release this image so I thought I would share it with you on my monthly inspiration post with a little coloring tip. This months tip: Don't be afraid to use grays to make your colors deeper and more rich looking. It helps to give more dimension and contrast to your projects. Here is how I teach to use grays; When I've colored a few berries with the regular colors, I decided where I want to make RV99 (in this case) darker. I then added N7 to that area and immediately went over it with RV69. These two colors will blend together on the paper making the top color a darker shade and you won't see the gray. Then I will blend it out with the sequence of colors, this is done lightly. Once you get the hang of it you can just start by adding gray before your darkest color and blending out from there. I used N gray because I didn't want any blue or brown undertones. I only do this with Copic XPress Paper as it allows me more time to work with my coloring and has less of a chance of looking "muddy" with more ink added. I will be back next month for more coloring tips! Rhea

It's celebration time my friends!! The 4th of July is coming soon, so I thought I'd make a celebratory card focusing on that theme with this darling slice of cake from the new Power Poppy Clear Stamp set called Party Time. Included in this set is a sweet little banner (that I colored "flag style" also), as well as a fabulous variety of sentiments. I colored the cake slice with Copics, and added some sparkly dots using my Quickie Glue Pen and some Micro Fine Opaque White Glitter (Glitter Ritz). For the candle flame I used some Prisma Glitter (Hero Arts) for a little extra sparkle. I also got out my Minc Machine for the silvery border, and lastly I added some Sequin Stars (Pretty Pink Posh), as well as some rhinestones (Pizzazz Aplenty) to add to the shiny celebration.
