Thursday was a crazy busy, wonderful and FUN day! First, up early to register and secure my reservation for my very first Stampin' Up! Convention! After five years since I first joined Stampin' Up!, I am finally able to make the trek to Salt Lake City, Utah with the others! Wooo Hooo! Next it was time to deliver stamps from last Saturday's workshop to the girls at the office (I took the day off to be sure I did everything right during sign up!). Then off to lunch with the hub's, a little grocery shopping and home just in time for Mr. Brown (the UPS guy - for those of you who don't know who that is) to pull up to our driveway and deliver: THREE BOXES OF 2015 CATALOGS! Plus my pre-order and my very own free catalog (I don't look the least happy, do I - lol) HOW TO GET YOUR OWN CATALOG: If you are an active customer with me, you will automatically get a free catalog from me. I have a confession! I could't help but think of a Ryan Gosling when I was making this card as it features the new stamp set 'Hey Girl' which has nothing to do with him at all! However the memes on the internet of him are just too cute to ignore. Todays card is inspired by the talented designers over at Just Add Ink #265. I've created a fun girly card with lots of balloons - as this was part of the inspirational picture. I love this new stamp set. Its a photopolymer so lining up all the images was just a breeze! I did a lot of fussy cutting!! lots! The bow in her hair, the gold balloons, the top and frills in her dress too! For her hair I used Delightful Dijon and Hello Honey markers and the NEW Lots of Label framelits for the greeting! You'll also see here I layered her dress just for a bit of added dimension. Good Morning Everyone! My Try It Thursday share is a Get Well Card created with the Stampin' Up! Get Well Soup stamp set. This is a Case from Linda Heller, but I changed some of the details to make it my own. I used the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack to paper piece the bowl. I then added color to the soup by using the Stampin' Up! Markers. So that it looks like the bowl is sitting on a table, I stamped Soft Suede card stock with the Stampin' Up! Hardwood stamp and attached it to the bottom of the card. Finally, I embellished with the Heart Punch and the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers, and adhered a piece of tissue. Cheer anyone up with this easy and adorable card! The card for today is another that I made using bits and pieces that didn't make the cut for other projects but were to good to just toss. To see another 'bits and pieces' card check out yesterday's Clean and Simple Bike Ride. The Barnyard Babies stamp set was the very first one on my wish list when the new catalog came out. The sweet little animals are just so cute! For this card I had the panel with Pear Pizzazz square already stamped. It's made with a clear block inked up with an ink pad and then stamped directly onto the cardstock. I don't know why I had this piece; it must have been an idea that didn't work out for another project. It was sitting on my desk for quite some time. I stamped some grass with Old Olive ink to give some more detail. Next, I stamped and colored the cow with alcohol markers and cut her out with my trusty paper snips (seriously, if you don't have these you really need to get them! You can order them below just by clicking on the picture of the paper snips. The same goes for the rest of the supplies to make this card). I then popped her up on dimenionals onto her pasture. A little bit of embellishment in the way of Pear Pizzazz cotton ribbon, linen thread bow and the sentiment from One Big Meaning stamped in Early Espresso. Thanks for looking! Did you stamp today? Hallo creatievelingen Zoals beloofd, elke dag een blogberichtje met projecten, gemaakt met Garden in Bloom. Het is volgens mij wel duidelijk hoe fantastisch ik deze set vind! Is hij niet geweldig? Deze keer heb ik vooral Watermelon Wonder gebruikt omdat er van de nieuwe In Colors ook zulke leuke kleine bloemetjes zijn: In Color Blossom Accents. Had jij ze al gezien? Ze staan op pagina 160 en er zitten 20 van deze schattige bloemetjes in het doosje, van elke kleur 4 stuks. Zelfs mijn jongens, uit de kluiten gewassen jong volwassenen, vinden deze set SUper. Mijn jongste zoon vindt dat de kaart lijkt op een kindertekening met stijl. De set heeft iets nostalgisch, wat doet denken aan je kindertijd. Heerlijk tekenen en inkleuren. En dat is precies wat ik gedaan heb, nou ja bijna. Ik heb ze niet zelf getekend, maar wel zelf gestempeld :-) Hier krijg je toch ook zin van om te gaan stempelen en te experimenteren met kleuren? I have another card to share with you today made with the set Remarkable You. My cousin just had a birthday and I figured that was a good excuse to try my hand at watercolors again. :) Can you tell which flower I painted first, second, then last? My lines weren't as dark and harsh the more I worked it. I painted the back flower first, then the one on the left and the right one last. I really like the soft edges I did on the last one. I'll keep on practicing, but I'm still happy with how they turned out over all. :) To create this I taped around the edges of my watercolor paper with masking tape using the biggest Stampin' Up! block. Next I stamped the flowers with Sahara Sand. Yup, with Sahara Sand (I'd use any really light color like Blushing Bride or So Saffron, depending on the color the flower is going to be). Then I masked both the flowers and stamped the left one again back behind the other two. I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to position it. That's one reason my back flower is darker on the edges. I stamped it with Pear Pizzazz on the stamp-a-ma-jig plastic piece and didn't get the stamp cleaned off well enough before I put on the Sahara Sand, so when I stamped it it was greenish brown...ugg. I started by coloring the little "nib" in the middle with Daffodil Delight...which I shouldn't have done! They're usually white if the calla lily is blue. Too late...I was going with it because the yellow didn't lift as much as I would have liked. After those were dry I started with the top flower by first getting the top area of the flower wet including the edge of the flower (in this case greenish brown! lol). Getting the edge wet makes the color bleed and it will blend in with the color your using so it "disappears". Then I used Island Indigo to color it in. Basically I put it around the edges of the flower and let the water pull the color in. That's why it's darker on the outside and lighter as it goes toward the middle of the flowers. I did that with each part of every flower, making sure that the previous part was dry before going to the next so the colors didn't bleed into any other part of the flower. I wet each of the stems, then added Pear Pizzazz starting that was diluted with water and before it completely dried added more in, just not quite as diluted. Once the flower and stems were completely dry I did my background by wetting the whole thing and dropping in Pear Pizzazz by the stems and a very diluted Island Indigo around the flowers. I made sure I kept the watercolor paper wet so the colors flowed outward. I wanted the color a little darker closer to the flowers and stems and lighter as it got farther away. As that was drying I added the "splashes" with my paintbrush using the same watered down colors. Once it was completely dry (believe it or not I never used my heat gun with this card!!) I'm totally overwhelmed by the response my latest card design has generated. So I wanted to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has commented and shared my card around the various photo sites! I thought this card really deserves its own post so here in more detail is how I made this Very Hungry Caterpillar card. Believe it or not I didn't set out to make a caterpillar card! I was inking up and stamping the cool wonky circle from the Layered Letters Alphabet stamp as background for my "Live, Love, Craft" card and as I was overlapping the circles that is when I had that lightbulb moment. {Ding!} I actually said "I could make a caterpillar...wait a minute these colours match the Very Hungry Caterpillar!! Oh my!" So here it is again, my Very Hungry Caterpillar card in the 2015-2017 In Colours. Cucumber Crush, Mint Macaron & Watermelon Wonder with Tip Top Taupe feet and Delightful Dijon eyes! The NEW In Colours are just a perfect match for this famous book character! This is going to be such a popular stamp set!! Carolina's Tip's and Techniques I used some of the other letters and characters in the alphabet set to create the extra little pieces on my Hungry Caterpillar - the letter 'V' for the antennae, the exclamation dot '!' for the nose, and the letter 'I' for the legs - here's how... Well, we are just over a month in to the new catalog, which has given us a chance to whip up some great projects with the new goodies to inspire you! Me and some of stampin friends at Stampin' Addicts have come together to put on this hop and can't wait to share our creations. There is a chat thread set up if you want to share some thoughts over on StampinAddicts.com. If you are following along in order, then you just came from Carmen's blog where she featured Watercolor Wings. Fantastic, right?! The set I chose to feature just screams summer to me! Market Fresh is full of lush produce, and some punny sayings ;) Let's start with a couple of lovely wine bottle tags. Both images are stamped on Very Vanilla with a waterproof ink, such as Stazon, and then colored with a blender pen. For the one on the left, I also created a mask for the image, then using the new masks from the catalog, sponged the background of the entire tag. I was on a roll making tags, so here are a few more. These are made out of watercolor paper and colored with an Aqua-painter. More sponged backgrounds with the new stencil pack. You will also notice that the sentiment on the strawberry image is not the one on the stamp. Lots of people have commented on the possible interpretations of "Just Ripe for You", so I decided to carefully cut that part of the stamp out with my Snips to start the hole, and my rubber scissor to finish the job. And guess what? There are loads of sentiments that fit in the banner! Anything from And Many More...and Teeny Tiny Wishes, one from Watercolor Wings, several from Sprinkles of Life, and so many more! Then, since this set is so Farmers Market, I had to: Make a berry basket and stamp some grapes on it. Use the Farmers Market DSP! This little basket is full of cute little 3"x4" cards with matching envelopes. You could fill it with any kind of goodies, but since I was creating for a hop, why not more cards?! Here are the first three of the six cards I made. The images are all on watercolor paper, colored with Aqua-painters and ink squeezed off ink pads, then fussy cut. And here are the last of the cards I made. I love to watercolor, so this was such a fun set for me to play with! And you can see, these make adorable cards, especially when paired with the coordinating DSP! That's all I have this time.
