Yup, you guessed it: Red Light Therapy The Research A study involving 31 women with dysmenorrhoea set out to see if red light therapy could assist women with the negative symptoms associated with the condition. At the end of the study the researchers discovered: All women in the red light therapy group reported that their pain had completely been relieved. 16 women reported positive results from their very first menstrual cycle The rest had successful results at their second menstrual cycle. How does red light therapy relieve menstrual cramps? Cramps come about when prostaglandins (hormone-like substances) are released by the uterus while rejecting the lining that causes the muscles in the uterine to contract. Red light therapy helps to lessen these substances and reduce the inflammatory process.
