This is a fun Welsh-themed Risograph print, designed and illustrated by me, Charlotte Hepburn, and printed in the UK. The image is printed on context Natural 250gsm paper that is 100% recycled and FSC Certified. This print is from a series of 6 Welsh-themed prints check them out in my Etsy shop. The series includes the prints named: ‘Nos Da’, ‘Bora Da’, ‘Cariad love spoons’, ‘Welsh Ladies’, ‘Iechyd da’ and ‘Give is a cwtch’ This print was inspired by the traditional welsh love spoon and the sentiment behind them. There are numerous ways to say “I love you” in the Welsh language but only one way to say “in love”: mewn cariad. Cariad on its own is the Welsh noun that means love. Traditionally in Wales, love spoons were given by young men as a love token for their sweethearts. What are you waiting for? Order your print as a gift for your friends and family. It’s a great gift for your loved ones on their birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s, Wedding day, Father’s day, Mother’s day and any other occasion. WHAT IS RISOGRAPH PRINTING? Risograph printing was created in the 1980s in Japan but has since been picked up by illustrators and other artists. A Risograph is a digital duplicator or printer duplicator created to produce high volumes of good quality print copies at a lower cost than toner copiers. The limited colour printing system allows for up to 4 colours and unusual ink colours such as neon and metallic. Each colour is printed individually on large rollers with each pass through the machine creating a layered effect. This printing method uses soy-based non-toxic inks which are kind to the planet. Risograph printing also uses low energy and creates minimal waste making it very environmentally friendly. Due to the risograph print process and how it aligns, no two prints will be exactly the same! Please note, that this print does not come framed. FEATURES -Designed and Illustrated by Charlotte Hepburn - A3 Risograph Print -Printed in the UK WHAT IS INCLUDED? - A3 Risograph Print Please be aware due to the nature of Risograph if left in direct sunlight the ink will fade or discolour over time. It is best to keep Riso prints out of direct sunlight and frame them with a UV protective glass or Plexi. POSTAGE A3 prints will be delivered in a postal tube for maximum protection. I try and keep the environment at the front of all aspects of my business and always try and find the most environmental options possible. (Goblin is 28 months) Today I thought I'd combine our St David's day craft activity with a lesson. So we made a Welsh love spoon using ...
We’ve been weaving here at Tregwynt since 1912 so we’re lucky to have an archive full of colour and pattern and in 2017 we brought back our Vintage Star design, originally in production here in the 1950's. We've made the new version in both classic and contemporary colours but still with all the features of traditional Welsh tapestry blankets. The warmth and breathability of wool coupled with a vibrant reversible design makes this pattern a striking addition to any room. Traditional welsh blankets and bedspreads are always reversible and ours are finished with a simple hem so you can choose which side works best in your home. Woven in 100% pure new wool and practical for everyday use, warm, durable but still easy to care for. Pattern Repeat 34x37cm. Throw 120x200cm Single 180x200cm Double 240x200cm King 270x200cm Also available in 210cm wide fabric by the metre, please see our fabrics category for more information.
The sun is shining and my children are back at nursery and school. It’s time to think about St David’s Day which has sparked lots of creativity in our house. Here’s a round up of 10 St David’s Day crafts, including some of ours. 10 St David’s Day crafts How about starting the day with a St David’s Day breakfast, I love this one which includes Welsh dragony bacon and egg. You can’t celebrate St David’s Day without a batch of Welsh cakes too. They are simple to make and taste divine, especially when warm. It’s lovely to bring some colour into the house. As well as colourful daffodils, did you know that leeks are a well known Welsh symbol? I found this fun craft for kitchen paper leeks which I know my children would love to make and then use in their play kitchen. How about making some Welsh ladies bunting to decorate the house? I found two versions, one with cheery faces and googly eyes and more Welsh ladies bunting based on sweet Russian nesting dolls, both would brighten up a room. I also like this fun St David’s Day bunting printable. I haven’t forgotten the children and […]

Jon Dennis: This week is all about pop with a penchant for prolixity
This Welsh Lady print was my first print using colour, but I couldn't make a Welsh lady without the iconic red. The traditional Welsh costume was once worn by rural women in Wales and the patterned outfit and distinctive hat make regular appearances on St Davids Day (March 1st). This is a print of my original pen drawing. The Finer Details: Printed on high quality 255gsm Matt Somerset Enhanced Velvet paper. I've chosen this lovely paper for my prints because it has a beautiful texture and also because of the environmental concerns in making paper that St Cuthberts Mill adhere to. Here is a quote from their website: "St Cuthberts Mill is located in the Somerset countryside. We take great pride in protecting the environment we live in, making paper in harmony with the local countryside. No hazardous chemicals are released into our river, and we are proud to have large quantities of wildlife living in tandem with the mill. Our location boasts a wide variety of wildlife which include, ducks, trout, pheasant, buzzards, foxes, badgers, roe deer, rabbits, heron, kingfishers and woodpeckers. All materials are screened in the mill to ensure minimal environmental effect. Pulps are sourced from sustainable sources (no rainforests are harmed in making our papers), and our cotton linters are an annual crop, which are a by-product from the textile industry."
