Time to play a little game of "Which do you like better? This or That?" I've been playing with the new Potted Geraniums stamps and Geraniums dies, and came up with two cards. One uses the stamps with the dies, and one uses the dies alone. So now I want to know, which is your favorite? Let's look at each one. This was my first attempt. I stamped the images using Cajun Craze for the flower pot, and two-stepped the leaves and flowers (Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive for the leaves, and Blushing Bride with Sweet Sorbet for the flowers). These were all cut with the coordinating dies. I love that little sign in the plant! And check out that fabulous lattice background! The Split Card Textures dies (there are two - a lattice and a floral) create these textures that look like another layer on your card. LOVE! And do you see that cut-out greeting? The Charming Sentiments stamps and dies are going to be a favorite! With 17 greeting stamps and matching dies, this will be a set I reach for again and again! This card got a little (retired) bumblebee to embellish the white space. I love the way this came out. But then I got looking at the dies and decided to try another version: You can make the geraniums using only dies! How fun! This time I used the same colors as in the first sample, but cut everything with cardstock. There's even a "dirt" stamp and die! And since I decided to try a larger greeting, I flipped the lattice so there was more "white space" on the top of the card. This is another of the stamps/dies from the Charming Sentiments set. And I finished off the card with a few little Brushed Brass Butterflies...a favorite embellishment. So which is your favorite? This or That? Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's POTTED GERANIUMS edition! The "Crew" is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from around the world who pick a stamp set or bundle to highlight on the first and third Mondays of each month, with a bonus hop if there is a fifth Monday. If you landed here from Deb's blog, Heartfelt Inkspiration, welcome! There are four of us today, so the tour won't take too long. Potted Geraniums is a 17 piece photopolymer stamp set with a coordinating 12 piece die set that you can bundle and save 10%. Nine of the stamps are sentiments, including the adorably tiny ones that fit on the plant label! I have three cards to share today, thanks to my awesome friend (and team member) Sherry, who let me borrow her bundle. I found the combination of Garden Green and Granny Apple Green pleasing for the leaves, so that's what I used on all the cards, but this first one has Sweet Sorbet blossoms. (I looked up images of geraniums to get an idea of colors, and holy cow - I never knew there was such a variety!) It was paired with the Country Gingham DSP and I added some die cut clouds from the Waves Dies. It's hard to see in the photo, but there is a light Balmy Blue sky. I think I could have added a little more color, but I figured that out after the butterflies were adhered. (Oops.) The next card has the same green leaves, but this time Fresh Freesia blossoms. Yes, there are even purple geraniums...who knew?! The purple geraniums needed purple pots, so Gorgeous Grape to the rescue! I embossed some vellum with one of the new Basics 3D folders (an Online Exclusive), and matted it on white so it would stand out. A G.G. panel was added behind before adhering it all on a Fresh Freesia card base. I forgot I had the Glossy Dots Assortment until I was pawing through my embellishments looking for something suitable. You never buy something and put it away, only to promptly forget about it, do you? No? I guess that's MY super power, LOL. The last card only has the sentiments stamped. Everything else is die cut with the Geraniums Dies. Again, Garden Green and Granny Apple Green leaves, with Flirty Flamingo and Sweet Sorbet blossoms. The pot is a two piece die cut (Cajun Craze) and the DSP behind is another Online Exclusive, Hello Irresistable 6" x 6" DSP. Oh! And the embossing is one of the Basics 3D folders, too! I am back, after a wonderful vacation, and ready to show off some cards starting with the Kre8tors Blog Hop: Case Tic Tac Toe Challenge!! This month's hop theme was a CASE challenge. For those of you not familiar with the term CASE - in card making that stands for Copy And Share Everything. So you are to take a card that you like and copy it - I usually like to change a few things and put my own spin on it. Here is the Tic Tac Toe board that we were to pic from - I choose right down the middle! From top to bottom - Ribbon, Use a NEW In Color & CASE a fellow Blogger I chose to CASE one of my wonderful Upline's cards from Chris Slogar's blog - Buckeye Inklings - This is Chris' card that I was inspired by. So not only did I have to CASE a fellow blogger but I had to use Ribbon and a new In Color in order to complete a tic tac toe line! I used the new In Color Sweet Sorbet cardstock for my card base and then used a piece the new In Color 6 x 6" DSP for the patterned paper. My background paper is from the Sun Prints DSP and run through the Brick and Mortar 3D embossing folder. My geraniums are all die cut - where my inspiration card was stamped. I used the Sweet Sorbet and Real Red for the flowers and Pear Pizzaz and Garden Green for the leaves. I also used the new Deckled Rectangles Dies for the white base behind the geraniums. My favorite ribbon is the same ribbon that Chris used on her card - the Black & White Gingham Ribbon so I duplicated her bow. I added 4 Classic Matte Dots at the corners to tie in the black a bit more. Now, it is on to see what the other bloggers have used as inspiration and what they have created. Good Morning Everyone Happy Friday, I hope you have all had a good week. It's Fun Fold Friday, and today I wanted to share an Open Panel or Split Panel card with you. This is a ridiculously easy Fun Fold to create and I think it looks so lovely decorated with the Potted Geraniums Stamp Set & Dies. Measurements Measurements Starry Sky Card Stock 1pc - 4 1/8" x 11 3/4", scored at 5 7/8" Butterfly Kisses DSP 2pc - 1 3/4" x 3 7/8" Basic White Card Stock 1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" 1pc - 1 1/2" x 3 7/8" Pear Pizzazz Card Stock scrap Old Olive Card Stock scrap Calypso Coral Card Stock Scrap Blushing Bride Card Stock Scrap Cajun Craze Card Stock Scrap Soft Suede Card Stock scrap ---------------------------------------------- Take the Starry Sky card stock and place in front of you horizontally. Take a pencil and mark (in Pencil) at 2" from the right hand side at the top and bottom, and also 2" across towards the right from the score line. Join the dots to create two straight lines. Place the card in the trimmer, and cut down both of the lines so the you release two strips. With the larger piece of card the you cut away from, burnish that score line to make it nice and crisp. Add a piece of DSP to the small section. Also the same sized piece fits one of the cut sections and the Basic White piece fits the other piece. Add the large Basic White piece to the inside of the card. The remaining piece of Starry Sky card stock (is the piece for the centre) is slightly smaller. Add the coordinating DSP. Place the larger piece of card in front of you with the fold at the top, then place the 2" strip of Card along the bottom edge of the card - making sure it is flush with the piece behind and straight along all the three sides. Don't glue this to anything! Add some adhesive to the top and bottom of the remaining panel (holding it vertical). Place this down so that the adhesive stick to both the top flap and the bottom piece to hold it all together. Be sure to do a no-glue practice run for placement to make sure that you won't be adding glue where the 'open space' is. Whilst this is laid flat, stamp the sentiment onto the basic white back panel in Starry Sky ink, making sure it is central in that section Bring in your Cut & Emboss Machine and cut out the following to create your geranium and pot:- 1pc - Solid leaf in Pear Pizzazz 1pc - leaf detail and stem in Old Olive 1pc - Solid Flower image in Blushing Bride 1pc - Flower detail in Calypso Coral 1pc - Flower pot in Cajun Craze 1pc - Flower pot rim in Soft Suede Piece all these together to build up your image. Add this to the Basic White Vertical Panel, making sure not to overhang on the left, or cover any of the sentiment to the right. BE sure if you have any of this image sitting over the panel below that you need to be wary of where you are applying the glue so that you don't stick the card shut!! I hope you liked today's card. I am a big fan of geraniums - I get them for our flowerbeds every year from the Horticulture Club at our local high school - so I was excited to see the Potted Geraniums Bundle in this year's Annual Catalog! The flowers and leaves are made with two-step stamps. On the above card, I stamped the flowers in Sweet Sorbet and Cherry Cobbler and the leaves are Soft Seafoam and Garden Green. The designer paper is from the Tea Boutique Suite. I made a duplicate of this card with some retired paper and ribbon - the flowers here are Fresh Freesia and Melon Mambo.
