I made a NY resolution that I would use my new products more than once, I've MOSTLY kept that resolution. I got a bit carried away using this Simon Says Stamp Chelsea Floral 3D embossing folder. It has 2 dies that cut out 2 of the flowers. I didn't even get a chance to use those because I started thinking of all the ways to use embossing folders and wanted to film a YouTube video showing some. I didn't even use all the things I wanted to, there's only so many hours in a day. I put the supplies under each photo that I used for that particular card. These are clickable links, if you use them to make a purchase, I receive a small commission and it lets me know you found my ideas useful. I purchased this embossing folder myself. Thank you! Finetec Metallic Paint Altenew Paintbrush Ranger Paintbrush Scrapbookcom Black Mixed Media Cardstock I embossed black mixed media cardstock with the Chelsea embossing folder, used the Finetec Pearlescent watercolors to paint everything. These paints are highly pigmented and are so fun to use. Sizzix Revealz Sandable Cardstock and Sanding Block Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide to color flower centers VersaMark Ink Ranger Clear Embossing Powder The Sizzix Revealz cardstock DOESN'T have a white core, it's a lighter shade of whatever color the paper is. I embossed this paper, then lightly sanded it using the Sizzix Sanding Block. I used a small blending tool to color the centers of the flowers, and then applied VersaMark Ink to the flowers with a small blending tool and heat embossed the flowers. Lindy's Flat Magicals Under the Boardwalk (Amazon) Ranger Archival Ink Ranger Clear Embossing Powder I just bought the Lindy's Flat Magicals from Amazon, other colors are available at Simon Says Stamp. I made some backgrounds on the Scrapbookcom mixed media paper. These Magicals are powder pigments. I used a palette knife to apply a small amount to my paper, spritzed it with water and let them dry. I used the reverse side of the embossing folder ( the side with the raised florals) this pushed the image into the paper, not pop it up. Since the image is recessed, when you run the black ink over the paper, it only hits the raised area, which is mostly the background. I have a YouTube video on this technique. Gelli Arts 5x7 Gel Plate Distress Brayer Speedball Brayer Distress Oxide Inks - Ripe Persimmon, Fossilized Amber, Picked Raspberry I am an impatient ink blender. Distress Oxide inks are the easiest for me to blend. I applied the ink directly to the embossing folder and didn't like how it looked like 3 streaks across the paper when embossed. So I went to a tried and true technique, I applied them to a Gel plate, used a brayer to quickly blend the lines. Then pressed the embossing folder to the plate, put paper into the embossing folder and ran it through the Sizzix Big Shot. No need to do anything else. The flowers stay white because the ink is only pressed into the background. Lindy's Flat Magicals (Amazon) Hero Arts White Pigment Ink More playing with the Lindy's Flat Magicals. I embossed the paper and then ran a HA white pigment pad over the raised areas, done. Simon Hurley/Ranger Neon Lunar Paste - Yellow Jacket, No Chill, Mood Ring, Tangent. Ranger Blending Sponge Ranger Black Archival Ink Scrapbookcom Mixed Media Cardstock For this one, I applied Neon Lunar Pastes to Black Mixed Media Cardstock using a Ranger Blending Tool with the flat sponge attached. I randomly applied colors, applied most of the blue No Chill color to the edges. I let it completely dry, ran the black Archival Ink pad over the inside of the embossing folder, put the paper into the embossing folder, ran it through the Big Shot. The black ink subdues the background and lets the flowers stand out. I have a YouTube video on this technique on my channel. Here's the link to the embossing folder: ----- http://shrsl.com/4ijhl [Simon Says Stamp] Thanks for looking! My YouTube videos can be found here at Susanbcards I'm on Instagram @Susanbcards
