Hello and welcome to my blog! This week's Global Design Project challenge is a Case the Designer Challenge and this week we are caseing one of Stesha Bloodhart's gorgeous cards. I love Stesha's layout and used that for the inspiration in creating my card. The Cottage Rose Stamp Set is a beautiful stamp set and I love colouring in the flowers! For this flower I've used the Stampin' Blends, they are easy to use and you can create a variety of different looks depending on how you colour with them. I chose to follow the shading lines on the image, so quick and simple! For my bow I combined Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, that I had coloured with the Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends and a piece of Very Vanilla Twine - it just adds another little detail! For a step by step tutorial on how I created my card please click on the Tutorial button. All products are listed in the tutorial and below. I've also created a video tutorial, click on the link below to watch! Please remember to head on over to the Global Design Project blog and check out all the fabulous creations made by my fellow team members and we would love to see your creations using this week's sketch. It's already time for another Inspiration Hop with Around the World on Wednesday. On the second Wednesday of each month, the team put together a thematic hop to give you some inspiration for your own crafting. We love it when you try out something new or CAS(E) one of our projects. The team is truly international, with members from each time zone of the world that Stampin' Up! operates. You're with me, in New Zealand - the first place in the Stampin' Up! world to change the date. 😀 This month's theme is 'April Showers Bring Spring Flowers' with an invitation to share a technique that brings us the joy of the season. It's an extra special hop as it's an anniversary - four years since the first edition. Congratulations team! I wasn't here at the start but I've loved being along for most of the journey. Well, in my part of the world, it's not turning to spring but to autumn and there's not too much going on in the way of flowers! However, who doesn't love them and if they're not around, I'm sure I wish they were! So I'm going to share my favourite retiring floral set and celebrate with some autumnal colours AND a technique that brings me some joy as well. I like to create window cards so I'm going to share with you this one that uses a partial die cut as its base. It gives me so much pleasure to see the flowers floating in space like this - although I'm quite sad that this set is retiring at the end of the month. If you don't have it already, jump in and order it soon before it's gone forever. You wont' regret it! I've put together a video tutorial, in case you'd like to give it a go. It's not really as difficult as it looks. It's just a matter of doing one thing at a time as no one step is hard. There are quite a few parts to this card, so in case you want to give it a go, here's a written round up of materials: 2 Thick Basic White pieces 10.5 cm x 14.8 cm. One is for the back base, one is for the stamping and partial die cut front. 1 Basic White approximately 10.3 cm x 14.6 cm to back the card 1 Basic White 10 cm x 14.3 cm for the card inner 1 Basic White 10.5 cm x 4.3 cm to back the partial die cut base 1 Basic White approximately 10 cm x 14.5 cm, large enough to stamp a second floral image for colouring and fussy cutting plus a plain white die cut of the floral image. 1 scrap of Granny Apple Green for the die cut foliage Window sheet 10.5 cm x approximately 22cm, scored and burnished at 14.8 cm The exact length is irrelevant - as long as there is enough for a solid flap. Next up on the hop is the wonderful Leonie Stuart. I'm sure she will have some inspirational ideas for you. If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. You can leave a message in the comments or contact me using any of the methods listed in the Contact Me tab at the top of the page. You can shop with me from anywhere in New Zealand by clicking on the SHOP NOW button in the sidebar or on any of the products below. Here's a blog roll in case you get lost or want to revisit a post. Hi everyone, today I wanted to walk down memory lane and create a card in a…
Hi everyone, I think by now you all know I am a sucker for patterned paper…
I really enjoyed colouring the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper, for the card I shared yesterday. From the same sheet of paper, I cut an edge piece (and fussy-cut around the floral design), and coloured it, to create another card. This is what I came up with, using the same colourways, but different elements and composition: Onto my Crumb Cake card base, I added a Very Vanilla card layer that I had embossed using the Gingham embossing folder. I then adhered the coloured floral piece, just in from the edges of the Very Vanilla panel. I added Champagne Rhinestones to a few of the flower centres, and in a couple of places on the Gingham embossed background. Using my Stamparatus, I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede ink (stamped twice, to achieve good depth of colour) on a scrap of Petal Pink card. After cutting it out with a Sending Die, I raised it up on Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. The bow was created with Petal Pink Polyester Ribbon. It's beautiful, but as you can see doesn't match the orangey tones of the Petal Pink ink and card. I think it is a good complement to the small pink flowers, coloured with Light Natural Tones Stampin' Blends. Listed below are all the products I used to make this card. If you live in Australia, and would like to shop with me for your Stampin' Up! supplies, you can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below. I am obsessed by Hellebores but whenever I see them in person in someone's garden, they are never this beautiful. They usually look like salad fixings that have been in the crisper drawer too long. Maybe I just haven't seen any that were planted in the right spot. I think the individual flowers are really beautiful. Here is a link to learn more about these late winter bloomers aka Lenten roses. image source More hellebores. The foliage is evergreen. via
I have always loved vintage prints (anything vintage really), roses, foliage and enjoy creating something new with a vintage look. Abigail Rose Suite Collection from the 2022-23 Annual Catalog is just stunning and uses the pale neutral shades and light subtle colors for a lovely collection of prints
Welcome to Makeover Monday!! I am thrilled to share with you my Makeover Monday project. I used the Cottage Rose stamp set and stepped up yesterday's, Simple Sunday's card. To appeal to the avid stamper, I made several changes to my Simple Sunday card. First, I colored the Designer Series Paper with Pool Party and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends Markers. Next, I changed the color of the tag to Pear Pizzazz, wrapped the ribbon around the entire panel and added some embellishments. The inside is stepped up as well. Which card
Hello stamping friends! Happy Friday! It's new challenge day over at Just Add Ink and do we have a fun challenge for you - Just Add Ink #604 | Just Add a CASE of Yourself Challenge suggested by fellow JAI team member Jan. How fun!!! When I am stuck for new ideas I sometimes go back to my older card designs and CASE myself and that will usually get the creative ideas flowing. Do you do that too? I know I'm not the only one. With CASEing the idea is to use the original design but to change it up and 'make it your own'. This is my original card that I made back in January 2021. So not that long ago. I really loved the layering of the cardstock and the DSP along with the flowers in each corner. I thought this card design really lended itself so well to the Stampin' Up! Abigail Rose suite that I had just ordered and really wanted to use. And this is then my CASEd card. As you can see I've kept to the same basic design but I've changed it up a slightly. I really thought the floral image from the Cottage Rose stamp set was too large to add two of them to this card as like the original. I still tried to layer ribbon, twine and die cuts with this flower to make a floral 'spray' like my original. I've finished off the card with some heat embossed gold splatters, basic pearls and the Happy Birthday sentiment stamped in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla cardstock. I do hope that you are inspired by my original creation and my CASEd version here today. I can't wait to see your CASEd creations and how you changed up one of your original creations. The slightest change can make a card look completely different. There are lots of AMAZING creations from the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team on the JAI Blog. Go and check out to see their CASEd projects and then while you are there you can see how you can enter your project. Can't wait to see your creations. Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Stamping!
