I created this King size quilt from traditional Storm at Sea blocks. I combined my "Heatwaves" design with Ocean waves border. I used the shades of aqua, the color of the water. The pattern contains the material requirements, cutting and piecing instructions, quilt assemble guide and adding border with mitered corners. The step by step instructions are illustrated with color images and easy to follow. Please open the pattern with the latest version of Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader to display and print everything correctly. You can print the pattern in booklet format to save ink and paper. Templates and/or foundation papers have to be printed with "Actual size" printer settings. You can download or update Adobe Acrobat: https://get.adobe.com/reader/ Quilt on the photo was made by: Lynn Perreault

Beautiful variation of a "Storm" quilt. The Queen finishes at 90" x90". The large lap/wall is 68? x 68". The blocks are large, so it sews together quite quickly. I find this is easier and faster to make using the Diamond Rects ruler ($35 CDN$ or $25 US$). The ruler is not necessary, just makes piecing and trimming easier. For wholesale orders, please buy through Checker or send me a message. Hard copy is also listed.
Doesn’t this look like a churned-up, stormy sea? I am so impressed with how easy it is to put this block together. I wish I’d had the time to finish it last night, but there’s on…

This quilt I made for my daughter Leanne, about 4 years ago, when she was staying behind in Singapore to finish her high school. We moved to Vietnam, Saigon, for my husband's work, and she could move into boarding house, a facility at the United World College in Singapore. The move was not the easiest thing for us to do and this quilt became very special to her. After completing her high school, she took the quilt to Utrecht in Holland. There she graduated from uni and now she is moving again, this time to London for her studies. She wanted a quilt that resembles the sea and when I saw the name 'Storm at Sea', I knew this quilt was the one to make for her. It comes from a lovely book More Quilts from the Quiltmaker's Gift. The use of different sizes of triangles gives a lovely movement to the quilt. Tomorrow is the day and there goes the quilt again! My DD is ready to move on and there is that pinch of an empty nest, again. But hey, I better get moving on too, b'cause in a short while my bee-ladies will be knocking at my door! Keep on quilting! Hilde

Perfect for Wedding or Anniversary quilt. This quilt kit makes a very large queen sized kit as shown in the first picture. Finished quilt will measure approx 88" x 103". I can custom make other kits in colors of your choice. This kit is made mostly of fabrics by Northcott. Kit includes enough fabric to make the top, binding and the pattern. The ruler "Diamond Rects" is optional. The pattern explains how to make the quilt without the Diamond Rects ruler, it's just easier and faster using the ruler ($47 CDN dollars, $34.50 US dollars when bought with the kit).

Beautiful quilt, especially for weddings and anniversaries. This is a variation of Storm at Sea. The queen size has two large hearts, the Lap size has one large heart. Queen: 88½”x 103½” Lap: 51½”x 66½”. Intermediate sewing level. Certainly doable for an experienced beginner if you take your time. No extra ruler is required, however the "Diamond Rects" ruler is helpful. Wholesale inquiries are welcome. www.facebook.com/www.fabricaddict.net
Simple, straight-seam construction and big, easy blocks create the effect of movement in this dynamic quilt design! This striking quilt gives the illusion of curves, yet is pieced entirely with straight seams. Use fabric yardage or repurpose old denim jeans for the perfect upcycled quilt! If using scraps or upcycling, sort your material into the five required values: dark, medium-dark, medium, medium-light and light-hued fabrics, then download your pattern and quilt up a storm! This pattern gives instructions to make multiple sized quilts, from Throw size, 56" x 56" to King size, 104" x 104". Printed patterns are also available here at Quiltscapes. New! Just added a Cutting Chart to make a scrappy version of this quilt using 10-inch squares.

I made this quilt for my husband's brother Tom and his new wife Margaret in 1988 as a wedding gift. It is from a collection of blue scraps in my collection, plus some new fabrics. I followed a pattern I found in Judy Martin's book Scrap Quilts. Many people still think that I am the Judy Martin who wrote all those wonderful quilt pattern books but I am not her. I would reccomend her books however, as they are excellent resources for traditional piecework patterns. number eighty two
I liked my xmas quilt so much that I decided to try the same pattern again with vastly different coloring. Unlike that speedy quilt, I've already been working on this one a month, and just yesterday finished piecing the top. I machine stitched the basic squares & rectangles with the set in diamonds, but then decided to hand piece the resulting 49 units to try to get better point/interesection matching. It's still not as precise as I would have liked, but I think it's better than if I'd done it by machine. And now, all I have to do is actually quilt it. Wonder how long *that's* gonna take me? This is a picture of my favourite quilt so far. I made it for an exhibition titled “Contrasts” in 2005 and it was the first quilt of mine that got accepted for an exhibition. The quilt …
The Storm at Sea quilt is on hold until I have more time to spend at the machine. It was looking like the top would be done by the end of April and I could deliver it to my longarm quilter next week, but it would have ended up being a rush job to finish the top. Better to slow down, get it right, and deliver it in June. I've been wanting to try English paper piecing for awhile, and decided to go ahead with it now since there will be some travel time over the next few months, both plane and long stretches in the car. I am going to make a medallion of hexagons with fabrics pulled for the April Color Palette Challenge. For once I am starting with a small project before I dive in head first! The photo shows part of the layout as I was choosing the background fabric. Check out more amazing design walls at Patchwork Times Julie
