I think this might be my favorite card I've made in a LONG time! Super tickled at how this one turned out. And it was pretty easy, too! Here's how I did it, plus a fun variation you'll enjoy making as well. It's not as hard as you'd think! You can use any floral stamps and any large word stamp for this card. I used the Sale-A-Bration 2016 stamp set, Botanicals for You. First, lay a Framelit or stencil down and trace your desired shape VERY lightly with a pencil. Then, stamp your largest flower in your boldest color, randomly...
It's sketch challenge time at Just Add Ink & Tina has created this fab & flexible sketch. We could use any shape to represent the stars so I chose... flowers! You're shocked right ;-) I thought it'd be fun to make try making clusters of flowers to fit the sketch using our new Grateful Bunch bundle, as it includes 4 different flower sizes... & a matching punch (yippee). What do you think - did I pull it off the sketch? I stamped the flowers in early espresso ink onto shimmery white cardstock, punched the smaller trio & fussy cut the larger one, then coloured them with Stampin' Write markers (calypso coral, so saffron, soft sky, pool party & crumb cake) - so quick. The beautiful shadow lines of the images meant very little shading was needed. I just added an extra layer of marker in the shadow areas for a bit more depth. The shimmer of the card comes through the colour too, although hard to see in the pic. To finish the card I mounted the flowers onto vellum with dimensionals, added a sentiment banner (Birthday Blooms) & adhered the vellum to the Wildflower Fields dsp (earn it free during Sale-a-bration). The vellum is only attached under the flowers & banner sentiment, plus a tiny bit under a tiny bud on the bottom of the right side. Here's a closer pic to show the flowers & vellum-paper background. I really loved how this one turned out & am very keen to make more to send too. Tutorial - Tips for easy perfectly punched flowers The trio of flowers in Grateful Bunch is designed to team perfectly with the matching punch, so I've put together a quick picture tutorial to show you how to make this quicker & easier using a template & simple stamping tips to position your stamp so it lines up quickly & easily. Then, you'll be making tons of flower cards too. I think the pics should be self-explanatory but I'll review again in the morning & add some more info if needed. Running rapidly out of time tonight. Leave me a comment if you have any questions or need more info. Thanks for visiting. Leave a comment to let me know whether you liked my card & whether the tutorial is helpful to you & pin it for later too. Remember to pop over to the Just Add Ink blog to see all the fun & clever ways the team used the sketch & we'd love you to try it too. My Birthday themed project today has cake balloons and more! The layout of the front of the card is inspired by this weeks Global Design Project I chose 2 of the sentiments from the "Party with Cake" set from the 2016 Occasions Catalogue, then used my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig to assist with lining them up. Centre stamp is also from the same set, and I have used my Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to give that lovely shimmer on the icing on the cake. Now for the surprise - the Happy Birthday Pop Up - isn't his just great! There are 2 designs for the Party Pop-up's. I used sponge daubers to colour the image after I had run it through the big shot, and finished off the inside of the card with It's my Party Washi Tape You can purchase this Stamp Set and thinlet dies as a Bundle and save 15%, and if your total purchase is $90 AUD you will also earn a free item from Sale-A-Bration! Life is a beautiful ride. Don't you agree? Especially if you get to take suitcases of stamping gear with you wherever you go!! Haha that would be a sight. I have always been an avid crafter however life did get a whole lot more crafty and coordinated when I joined Stamping Up! This was the one thing I appreciated the most from attending my very first workshop. Easy coordination. So '"life is a beautiful ride" for so many reasons, including being introduced to Stampin' Up! This card was a real hit with my ladies recently. The VW Bug stamp set comes from Beautiful Ride in the Occasions Catalogue. They loved learning how to watercolour. It was amazing how surprised they were at how easy it is! They honestly believed it would be harder to get good colour over the image. My best tips for watercolouring are: do use watercolour paper don't overload your aqua painter with water build up your colour in stages do dab on colour in places you want it darker The background is decorated with Timeless Textures another awesome stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue. Just from the simple patterns I have created a sky, trees and a road! Hurry if you want a copy of this VW stamp set and Timeless Textures it's only available until May 31st! Click below to order today. Be inspired with this colour combination, feel free to share and pin it! Stampin' Up! Supplies - click to view online Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed seeing my project please leave me a comment I'd love to hear what you think!
For this card I used 110# Whisper White and Basic Black card stock. The background stamp sets used are: Perpetual Birthday Calendar (Watercolored sky) and Wonderland (tree tops). Sky and clouds were stamped in Soft Sky. The airplane was stamped in Basic Black and cut out, dimensionals hold it in the sky. Frosted Sequins embellishments add texture and interest to the sky. Another Stampin' Up Sale-A-Bration Free stamp set with a $50 order beginning January 5, 2016.
Hi Everyone Thanks for stopping by and welcome to another challenge entry for Global Design Project #GDP085. It's a colour challenge this week, which means that the winner will be invited back to be a Guest Designer for the next colour challenge. It would be a great honour to highlight a colour theme with the Design Team and a massive achievement to win this challenge as there are always great projects from other entries. With the looming retirement of these In Colours, it's a great opportunity to play with them again. I have also used a retiring stamp set ~ Picture Perfect, for my projects this week. I used 4 of the 2015-2017 In Colours; Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon and Tip Top Taupe. There are 2 projects as I am still trying to make use of the DSP's we have and wanted a border for the main image. I swapped the die cut circles to have a different coloured border to the woodgrain design of the papers. Cardbase A5 folded in half DSP 12.8cm x 10cm Delightful Dijon card strip 10cm x 2cm Die cut 2nd largest circle from the Layering Circles Framelits on the DSP Stamp the flower on Whisper White: 2nd Generation Watermelon Wonder, 1st Generation Watermelon Wonder & 2nd Generation Memento Black Die cut the flower using the circle Stitched Framelit and mount with Dimensionals Stamp the leaves on Whisper White: 2nd Generation Memento Black, 1st Generation Cucumber Crush & 2nd Generation Cucumber Crush Fussy cut the leaves using Paper Snips Stamp the sentiment with Memento Black Add the ribbon and pearls Check out the Design Team's projects for this challenge and the other entries at #GDP085. Last week I used the lovely Flowering Fields from Sale-A-Bration, and instantly fell in love with this set. I find colouring with Aqua Painters quite therapeutic. Today I have combined it with stamps and thinlets from a Number of Years I gained inspiration from the 3 challenges below! Here is a close up of the water colouring, I love how you can add depth of colour by layer more ink as you go, can you see the subtle contrast in Blushing Bride on the main flower? I used a masking technique so that I didn't over stamp on the flowers, by using the Stamp-a-ma-jig I was able to work out the layout for the design. The sentiment is from Cottage Greetings. I hope you have enjoyed viewing my card today; the Flowering Fields stamp set is available for a limited time, so don't miss out; below are the products used: Use the current Hostess code displayed at the top of my blog at the check out and you will be eligible for a Thank You gift for for shopping with me - Learn more here - be sure to click YES that you allow me as your demonstrator to contact you in your account settings otherwise I won't be able to forward your Thank You gift. Sketch Ich bin schon so gespannt was ihr daraus bastelt. Verwendete Stampin' Up! I have had so may comments, likes and pins for my Flowering Fields cards and gift box, to date I have had over 6,500 views to the blog post which is just so amazing! I thank you all for visiting, click here to go to the post which has all the details and how to make the matching gift box. After it's popularity, I decide to made a card which I sent off to the Stampin' Up! Head Office in Utah, USA to the very talented Stampin' Up! Trainer and fellow demonstrator, Brandi Barnard who had a birthday in January and I am thinking it should have arrived by now so I will share it with you all. #imbringingbirthdaysback Stamp Set: Flowering Fields, Rose Wonder Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, In Color Designer Series Stack Ink: Black Stazon, Stampin' Markers Accessories: Whisper White Baker's Twine I don't often decorate the inside of the card, but I did with this one as I am just loving colouring with the Stampin' Markers with this stamp set, which again is FREE with a purchase of $90 during the Sale-A-Bration promotion, so remember to place an order with me.
I have to say this has been a FUN week. I have really enjoyed the Rose Wonder bundle and I will be using it AGAIN and AGAIN in the future. This is perfect for all flower lovers as well as Spring time which is just around the corner. Today I want to remind everyone that the 2014-2016 IN Colors will be retiring in May. Last year there was a lot of disappointment because the re-inkers for the retiring colors sold out EARLY. So please, if you have not already grabbed these amazingly rich colors please make sure to head on over to the shop to pick your set up so you don't miss out. Here are the Rose Wonder Die cut cards that I made using the 5 IN COLORS. I had a lot of fun making these but even more stacking them like a house of cards. This took talent I tell ya! Some In Color items are already marked down so don't put it off if there is something you can't live without... SHOP ONLINE thank you for stopping by today and for following along with my Rose of Wonder to Die for week! Melanie
Todays card is a simple but fun design, inspired by the bicycle patterned paper in the Schoolhouse series. Initially I thought I would mainly use these papers for scrapbooking, however the bright, fun designs have made their way onto a few of my cards now! The little bicycle stamp actually comes from the Sheltering Tree set. I love how you can change the colour of the bike frame to suit, here I have stamped it in Tangelo Twist to match my cardstock base, as well as the circle element. I have also added an embossed cardstock strip in a coordinating colour to help my card pop. Thanks for visiting my blog today! If you would like these, or any other Stampin'Up!
