Hello friends! Altenew has an exciting new monthly subscription feature this year called Paint-A-Flower (PAF).. similar to the Build-A-Flower (BAF). There will be a new outline flower stamp set each month that can be painted to practice your watercoloring skills. AND just because it says paint doesn't mean we can't color it as well with Artist Markers! I'm honored to be guest designing for this first Paint-A-Flower Blog Hop starting on the Altenew Blog! Introducing the PAF:Poppy! I have three cards created using three different coloring mediums. As I'm still learning to use watercolors, I wanted to begin by painting with the 36 pan set from Altenew. Then I used the watercolor brush markers, and finally, I wanted to show a third option of no-line coloring using the Artist Markers. So to have a true comparison of mediums, I tried to stick with the same colors from each: Watercolor pans, Watercolor Brush, and Artist Markers. Altenew has the unique system throughout their coloring mediums where everything has same name referring to colors throughout their product line Take a closer look at each card: For this first card I used the Watercolors from the 36 pan set after heat embossing the PAF:POPPY as well as several leaves in Black. Then I fussy cut around the poppy and leaves and popped them onto a background stenciled with the Square Weave Pattern Stencil. Colors used from the 36 Pan set: Fresh Lemon Sunkissed Purple Wine Mountain Mist Sea Glass Bamboo Evergreen ******* This next one is Colored with the Artist Markers in the No-line coloring technique after first stamping the PAF:POPPY in Buttercream Crisp ink. Artist Markers used: Warm Sunshine Sunkissed Purple Wine Mountain Mist Sea Glass Bamboo Evergreen ******* And for the last one, I used the Watercolor Brush Markers to color a wild bunch of PAF:POPPIES. Watercolor Brush Marker Colors used: Fresh Lemon Sunkissed Purple Wine Turquoise Lime Sweet Leaf I have a VIDEO capture of these poppies :) You can watch below or on my YouTube channel. The Paint-A-Flower stamp sets are released monthly and celebrate the beauty of a wide variety of flowers! Each stamp set features an outline image of a gorgeous floral arrangement, just waiting to be painted or colored with your favorite medium. There's no need for you to spend time layering and masking images, as we have designed these sets to allow you to stamp once then color! We can't wait to see what you create! Hello and welcome to Week 1 with the Art With Heart Colour Creations weekly showcase which the lovely Catherine Proctor will be running a weekly blog and other members from the Art With Heart Team. This week we start off with Balmy Blue and I hope we will inspire you with our variations of this beautiful colour. Balmy Blue is from the Subtles Collection, it’s available in Ink, Cardstock, DSP, Blends and more. I’ve created a card using some of these products, I’ve match Balmy Blue with Night of Navy and Highland Heather. I started off with the card base using Balmy Blue Cardstock, stamped the splatted stamp in Balmy Blue Ink on the Cardstock. The stamp is from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set and is caring over into the new Stampin’ Up! 2020 – 2021 Annual Catalogue. I’m so happy to see this beautiful Stamp Set and coordinating Dies in the Annual Catalogue. I’ve stamped both of the Poppy Stamps in Night of Navy Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock and coloured them in with the Stampin’ Blends using the light & dark Balmy Blue, light Night of Navy and light Highland Heather. The leaves are in Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends. To create the striped DSP, I’ve used a panel of Whisper White Cardstock by mixing Balmy Blue Ink and Frost White Shimmer Paint onto an acrylic block, this gives the ink a pearl shine to it. Refer to the photo below. Using the Paper Trimmer as a guidance, place the Cardstock under the ruler and use an Aqua Painter (which is now retired, but we have a new product called Water Painters) to create the stripes onto the Cardstock. See the photo below. The sentiment is from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set and is stamped in Night of Navy Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock. Please visit Catherine’s blog to see her creation and the links to all of the other participants who have taken part in this week’s showcase. Thank you for visiting my blog today, I hope you’ve enjoyed how I’ve used Balmy Blue. Make sure you come back next week to see Basic Grey in our projects. If you would like the new Stampin’ Up! 2020 – 2021 Annual Catalogue, I would be happy to send you a copy out to you. Please contact me here. Happy Friday y'all!! Today is an exciting day for sure!! The Power Poppy Bloom Brigade is teaming up with the Sweet Petunia Team to do a blog hop featuring the Misti and the new Misti Creative Corners!! I tell ya, the Misti is a definite "go-to" tool for me. I use it OFTEN!! Seriously! And I'm super excited to show you how I used it and its new Creative Corners. They are easy, fun and super handy!! I have two projects to share with you today, and I'm going to start with my Lavender card, using Power Poppy's Lavender clear stamp set, and Misti's Creative Corners. I knew I wanted to make a "sentiment square", so I took the two right angle magnetized corners and put them together to form a square. Now the magnets do not want to be close together when they are the same side, so I flipped one angle upside down, and they pieced together beautifully so I could stamp the sentiment around the square. I put the L-ruler along the bottom to keep the magnet square in place, and removed it when I wanted to stamp along the bottom. I also used the Misti to place the lavender bag image directly in the middle of my sentiment square. I stamped the bag a second time on a scrap piece of paper to color, burnish, and pop up with a dimensional square right in the middle to give the bag some depth. The edges are all glued down flush with the base. Next, I have a masculine card to share with you, using the Power Poppy clear stamp set Move the Soul. I have to tell you, I had an awesome time creating the background for this one. With the Misti, and its Creative Corners right angle triangle, it is so easy to create a sentiment pattern on an angle. I love how lined up the background is. The Misti has measurements along the side and bottom, so it's easy to position the triangle and stamp every time. I just slid the triangle down in 3/4" increments each time to stamp the checkered strip. Easy-Peasy! The next step was equally as easy to add the "congrats" sentiment with the same triangle. Lastly, I gold embossed the stars from the same Move the Soul set. I used Versamark ink and Gold Embossing Powder (Ranger) and unlike the rest of the background, I free-handed the stars because I thought it would take too long to stamp the stars and emboss them using the Misti...too many steps for me. Now since it is the first Friday of the month, Power Poppy is issuing another Power and Spark challenge, which this time is provided by our dear, dear Julie!! She has graciously provided 3 different sketches to try. I used the middle sketch, with the banner, for my masculine card today. I hope you will take the time to try out one of these 3 sketches. I think they're super fun!! Besides, each time you participate, you have an opportunity to win some free Power Poppy stamp sets! Now, that is inspiration if you ask me!! That's it for my projects today. I've provided a link list to all those participating in the blog hop today so you won't miss a one. Each one of these gals is super creative and clever, so you'll want to make sure you stop by each of their blogs for some more inspiration and if you leave a comment on each blog, you will be entered to win one of two $25 Power Poppy Gift Code, or a Misti/Mini Misti. Winners will be announced April 14 on this page of the Sweet Petunia blog for the Misti, and the Power Poppy blog for the gift code. How cool is that!?!?! Hello Dear Stamper Friends: Today I am bringing to you another fun shape card...this one is a Diorama, [small 3 dimensional scene in which models of figures are display against a background], not a square or a rectangular as they usually are, but in a Triangular shape! If you like it "Pin It": I featured this card at the French blog "Un Brin De Créativité" for Memory Box It shows several new dies from the Memory Box, Spring 2013 release. The bridge as soon as I saw it I knew that I had to make it in suspension some how and this is how the shape of the card came to life. and it reminds me so much of the "Golden Gate" in "San Francisco". Here is a shot of all the supplies of the dies that I used and the inks for making the background I just was reminded again about this technique at a "Rubber Stamp Convention" that I was at last week-end and I decided to do it and use it to make the background for the "Diorama" TECHNIQUE: On a glossy paper stamp with "Versamark: {frost for the trees and regular for the mountains}" the image, then you use the "kaleidacolor" inks with a brayer and that's it...so easy and effective...I loved it...and the lady doing the demo had fantastic cards at her booth...here it is the link of their store: "Stamp A Mania" and they specialize in south western rubber art stamps, just in case you want to have a look... CONSTRUCTION: As for the Shape of the card: you take an A2 card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"), add a third panel just a bit larger (5" x 5 1/2") score 3/8" on each side to be glued on both sides and make a "triangular diorama" I added some "Stickles" which are hard to see on the photo...but the whale, the frame, the flowers and the bridge were embellished with some of them. Here is a view from the top and here it is a view from the side... I thank you for your visit and want to remind you that if you would like to be informed of when I will have a post, just subscribe on the left to this blog by submitting your e-mail.. bye for now... BTW did you saw in my last post, scroll down, the "Quick 101" on how to use the icons from the supply list? Check it out in case you didn't know ... SUPPLIES: InLinkz.com
Hello Friends! Today the Power Poppy team is joining together to play along with Kathy Racoosin and her Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge! Today I wanted to show you more of my process of making multi-coloured bouquets work together, so I actually have a tutorial video and two cards to show you! Now, if you’ve been here a while you know I don’t do videos regularly, but lots of people have been asking to see how I colour. So, it’s NOT super fancy, and I’m using evening light - so it could be brighter, but you’ll see a bit of my colouring process. Even though I can’t see you when I’m shooting the video, I’m still imagining you as I’m talking. And it sometimes makes me forget my words! Hopefully you’re entertained! I’ve used the gorgeous new set Abundant Petals. It is amazing how much Marcy packed into this stamp set. It’s double a normal sized set, and the different flowers she chose are so beautifully done! It makes a colourist so happy! What my video shows you, is how I take a floral bouquet which has many unique colours in it, and make it tie together cohesively. I was inspired by this photo of a wedding bouquet. Amazing isn’t it? I love the soft colours, and yet there are really a lot of different colours in the bouquet: pink, coral, yellow, orange, blue, green. My wedding bouquet was a lot like this - though probably brighter deeper colours than these pastels. I love the vibrance of a lot of colour, it’s also how I seem to colour everything! So, when I’m putting together the bouquet, each flower has it’s own distinctive colour, but it also has elements of a number of the other colours in the bouquet mixed into each flower. By doing this the flowers work together. You can take a look in the video.. Here’s the second card I made, put together with the initial “single color” colouring of each petal, and then in the video how I added some of the different colours in the bouquet to each flower. Both cards make use of Distress Ink, or Distress Oxide backgrounds. I’ve just started to play around with those, and it’s fun to see how they turn out! I’ve embossed that empowering sentiment from Marcy’s new set M-Powering Words. Man is that set awesome! I love the words, and Marcy’s fabulous hand lettering. Now for a bit of SALE news, which is always fun....Marcella is offering a special on two stamps sets, Burst of Kindness and Spring Meadow , Marcy has more on that in the Power Poppy Blog post as well. Sale ends June 9th! Here is the fabulous Power Poppy line up colouring along today.... We'll announce the winners at 9 a.m. EST on Saturday, January 11th. To play along add your cards to the InLinkz below. If for some reason the Inlinkz button is not appearing for you, you can access the link up by following this link as well: CTS #353.
