Food can be a fun, motivating (and delicious) way to elicit the R sound in speech therapy. Who doesn't love snacks, right? Today I'll share 5 ways I use food
This sensory bin includes: • 4 cups old fashioned oats • 2 silicone pie liners (colors vary depending on what I have in stock at the time you order… you do not get to pick) • 2 tan felt pie crusts (these are handmade and may look slightly different than the ones pictured) • 1 metal tablespoon • 16 task cards (laminated) • 7 red pom poms • 7 green pom poms • 7 yellow pom poms • 2 cinnamon sticks * this does NOT include the bin... you can purchase cheap bins from the store to fit your preference. The bins I use are from the IKEA Flisat table! Differentiation: • Easier: This sensory bin can be for the really early toddler who doesn’t know his/her numbers yet. Let them explore and play on their own by making mini apple pies & apple crisps without the direction of the task cards! Once your child gets older, introduce the task cards for number exposure, number recognition, counting and one-to-one correspondence. But until then, let your child’s imagination run free! • Harder: The task cards provide an educational way for the child to work on their number skills while learning in a fun, engaging, imaginative way! Guide them through how to use the cards until they’re able to independently complete them. This bin includes small items that are choking hazards and not recommended under 3 unless adult supervision is present. This bin also includes food (uncooked oats) so although the food is technically edible, parental supervision should be present if your child puts things to his/her mouth and definitely not recommended for consumption.
