This week Danielle wants us to create our own papers using stamps to create different patterns etc then use them in our creations. http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2015/03/make-it-monday-206-stamping-and-mixing-patterns.html I used to do this years ago and to be honest forgot all about it. Ive never done it since having pti stamps, but Oh My!!! I have had a blast creating papers with pti stamps and i must say that i am hooked. Once the papers were created i was totally inspired to create lots of cards. The fact that the stamps co ordinate with the papers, the inks co ordinate etc makes it oh so easy , i dont think that ive ever had as much fun with a challenge as i have with this one. I'd completely forgotten about creating my own papers with stamps so thankyou Danielle for reminding me :) Once i started creating the papers i just couldnt stop haha i did a few vellums too. Since last year i havent had a laptop so im going between iphone and ipad and ive been taking all pics with my phone. However today i got my camera out and used that instead. So above is my collection of papers that i did. I haven't used every single one in my creations though. Pegs, pegs pegs, i love pegs, they have lots of uses Using your scraps create a few pegs to give as a gift of for yourself. I buy bags of 50 wooden pegs for £1, so cheap as chips :) i stamp the paper, glue it all in place, distress the edges and then i add a coat of spray glitter varnish, it protects the paper and gives a nice sparkle. You can buy small sticky backed magnet dots, stick them to the back of the pegs to be used on magnetic surfaces. These really do make a great gift and are ideal to create using the scraps left over from a co-ordinating card. I layered the large dot vellum over the small dot paper for a softer look. This is the only creation that has any ribbon etc as its a tag. I was going to add ribbon and lace to some of the other cards too but decided that it would be fun to see what i could create without adding and other items to it. I figured i could just add a little stitching from the sewing machine instead. So all the cards have only cost the price of the white card to make. I created the green stripes using the lined money strip out of the button boutique set.I didnt manage to get the dies that went with the bitty bouquet stamp set as it was out of stock :( so i handcut the flowers out. I added a little sparkle to the flowers on this one although the pic doesn't capture it. And last but not least i just had to throw in a little tag. If you havent yet tried to create your own papers using stamps then i urge you to have a go. Thanks for visiting :) Shaz xxx

You've might have noticed already that I have a thing for Pure Poppy (red) and Aqua Mist (light turquoise). Well, primary colors are a big draw for me in general. All my downstairs drapes are red and I've been accenting with blue. Made a necklace yesterday with the colors of red, yellow, green, blue, and brown. It's really going to pop against a pretty grey sweater. And I love M&M's for reasons other than their taste. They just look so cheery in my gumball machine. So is it any wonder when asked for my favorite PTI color combination, I come up with this: Just makes me happy to look at it. Here's my card featuring these colors. I like to sometimes do trial runs of my new stamps when they come in the mail. For this particular month, this was the first card I made and never shared. It got sent to a friend, however, so all is good. Always makes me feel good when I actually slap a stamp on something and send it on it's way. Have a good afternoon! And don't forget to stop by Nichole's blog to enter today's fabulous contest. Lots of color goodies up for grabs. Somebody is going to get very, very lucky. Hi and thanks for stopping by to visit with me today! I hope you are doing well - I'm keeping busy with lots of exciting things coming up! There is a big bake sale on Friday to help the Boy Scouts so I expect I will be baking all day tomorrow - what sounds good? Peanut butter cookies, pumpkin bread, brownies? Sounds like trouble to me - the cook has to make sure everything tastes good and is up to snuff right? Here is the latest inspiration photo from CASE Study Challenge. This is the last week for our month long muse Teri Anderson from A Bit of This, A Bit of That. This one was just so much fun! I love all the embellishments and the little pocket for a private note or maybe a gift card or cash. I loved the layout on this one and just switched up the theme. I used a sewing theme and made my own little "pin money" sign that I printed using Word. Just pull out some embellishments and let them do all the work for you! I picked up on that orange polka dot pattern and went from there. I am loving orange and yellow lately - I think I'm just craving some color or maybe spring. It is still so grey looking here in the Midwest - bare trees and November skies if you know what I mean. If you need a little more inspiration why not see what the design team came up with for this one? They will be sure to inspire you! Welcome to the second group post for Papertrey Ink's July release. Today's post is all about something near and dear to my very soul: books. I am every single bit the bibliophile. I love to look at books, touch them, smell them (I know some of you are with me there, right?), collect them, and read them, too, of course. And now I can stamp books to my heart's content. How fun to combine two of the things I love most -- books and stamps. Today the Papertrey designers are featuring two product groups: Bibliophile stamps and dies, plus the Fancy Bookends dies and Fancy Teacup die; and the Book Cover Card dies and Book Cover Details stamps. Remember, all of the new products will be available in the Papertrey Ink store on July 15 at 10 pm. Be sure to visit Nichole's blog today for product details, giveaway info, and inspiration. My first project features the Bibliophile stamps and dies, designed by Erin Lincoln, as well as one of the Fancy Bookends dies. Her concept is so clever! The Bibliophile die set includes several different sizes of books, as well as many different accent pieces. Use the Bibliophile stamps to add either book titles (based on author quotes) or book- and reading-themed sentiments. Seriously, I could not love this set more! For today's project, I picked out some of my favorite quotes to use as book titles. They are so "me" and just make me nod my head and smile. Sleep can*always* wait when there's a good book to finish! The "thinking of you" sentiment above the books is from Dawn McVey's new Perfect Pairing stamp set. I can see Perfect Pairing quickly becoming a go-to set. The sentiment pairings cover nearly any occasion you can imagine. Avid readers need bookmarks, too, right? I added one here using one of the Tiny Tags die-cuts. The "XOXO" is from the Swoosh stamp set. Next up is another super clever concept, a die that cuts a book-shaped card. This was by customer request based on this clever and creative card that Nichole designed a while back. The Book Cover Card die set includes everything you could think of -- the book itself, the rectangular frame that fits the front, a library pocket, a strip that looks like pages peeking out from the top, and three script sentiments. The corner adornment and sentiments are stamps in the Book Cover Details stamp set. I added some flowers from the previously released Brushed Blooms set. On the spine, I stamped some details: the lines are all from Plaid Builder and the tiny arrows are from last month's Stacked Sentiments stamp set. I also cut a length of Scarlet Jewel satin ribbon to look like a bound ribbon bookmark. On the inside, I added the library pocket die-cut to hold a gift card or cash (adhered with Scor-Tape on the sides and bottom), another Brushed Blooms arrangement, two sentiments from Book Cover Details and the flourish, also from Book Cover Details. I have some new news. Maybe you've already seen it. I'm kinda freaking out a little. Here is a little story... So, I'm on the treadmill the other day and figured I would check my email. (Obviously not going that fast but don't tell anyone.) I started skimming through and briefly saw an email saying Papertrey Ink. When I first saw it, I thought it was a newsletter. So I scrolled. Then I gasped....pretty much fell off the treadmill, quickly regained my footing and then attempted to scroll back up to find what I had just skimmed past. (Do you have a good visual? Go ahead and laugh.) The email was from Nichole Heady....asking me to join the Papertrey Ink Design Team. WHAT? Me? NO way. I emailed her back to tell her YES and also to share with her, my reaction when I saw her email... First, I gasped. (Insert close call with the treadmill story) Then I laughed out of nervousness. Next, I checked to see if this wasn't spam....or a joke. hehe! Then I screamed, called my husband and started blubbering to him like a fool. Really? Me?! I had to process all of this and still am, really. But I also knew that with a spot opening on the DT, that meant someone amazing would be leaving. Then I found out it was Cristina. She and I said years ago, we were stamping soul mates. She is such an amazing person and so talented. I am incredibly proud of her and so happy for her new adventure but so sad to see her go. Not to mention, incredibly nervous and pretty much terrified because there is NO way I will ever come close to filling those talented shoes of hers! I am extremely excited to be joining the girls at PTI. They are all so talented and bring such amazing inspiration each month. I hope I can show up with half the creativity they bring! I know I will learn a lot from them! I want to say thank you to Nichole for this hugely awesome invitation! Definitely a dream come true. I thought I would look back through Flickr and share some favorite PTI cards from the past several years. I couldn't narrow it down to a few, so I put a bunch in. Sorry, it may be photo overload! Thanks for stopping by today so I could share my fun news with you!

Happy Monday! I'm starting the week off by sharing a softly colored, slightly shabby, totally "girly" card with a sentiment that works for so many occasions, from friendship to birthday to anniversary, and maybe a few more. I guess that's why it shows up so often on my cards. :) I cut the Quinn Flourish die in half, and glued one half to each end of the larger sentiment block, then added two mirror-image floral clusters on either side of the block . Each of the three layers of the sentiment blocks are popped up just a bit with foam tape... And, well, there must be pearls... :) Supplies: Patterned papers: Graphic 45 A Ladies Diary collection/Afternoon Tea, Focal Point, La Gazette Dies: Memory Box Quinn Flourish; Spellbinders Timeless Rectangle Punch: Martha Stewart Doily Lace Flowers: Wild Orchid Crafts Pearls: K&Company Lace: TheFunkieJunkie.com Sentiment stamp: Papertrey Ink Thanks for visiting today...I hope your week is starting with a smile!

Welcome back for day 6 of our 4th Anniversary festivities! Today marks the start of the "official" countdown, where I will be showcasing all of our new February products for the next five days, along with some help from the rest of the team! Today I have an AMAZING, innovative prod
This is what I thought of this set when we first saw sneak peeks of this new Grunge Me set from PTI. Well, guess what? This was the first set that I inked up when I opened up my new goodies! Take a peek: Ok, I have to confess too, that I didn't want Maile's Modern Basics set and after using just this one image from Grunge Me, has me sold. The possibilities are ENDLESS! I will definitely be ordering that with my next order! I had fun making this one so I made another in a different color palette! The middle "splat" image was stamped "off" once and then stamped in the center. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope each of you have a wonderful Easter weekend!! {Hey There} All supplies PTI unless stated. Stamps: Grunge Me, FF #6 Paper: SS White Ink: True Black, Raspberry Fizz, Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy Misc: Raspberry Fizz and Pure Poppy Buttons, Baker's Twine (The Twinery)
I've got one last project (for now) using my new Bibliophile stamps and various dies from Papertrey Ink. Thanks so much for all the wonderful comments over the last few days both here on this blog and on Nichole's. I think there is quite a few of us stampers/readers out there. I feel in great company. For me, this is a stamp set that really speaks my own heart. I'm so happy it speaks to yours. This is not the first time we've had a book-themed set from Papertrey Ink. Each has their own unique spin. What is fabulous about them all is that you can find ways to make them work together. I'm just scratching the surface today. Look for more in the future. Dawn released Book Club last fall. It is a stamp set using various quotes from classic literature to represent various card giving occasions. Works great with Bibliophile. And then we have Simply Jane, featuring all things Jane Austen. I added both sets to this card. I thought it would be fun to have the book with the Jane Austen silhouette on it be to be the one that is "speaking" the quotation using the large speech bubble from the Figure of Speech Frame Die. You could probably do this for several of the quotations from Book Club and have it work well. All the book spine elements were embossed in gold, to give the look of fancy books. Which gave me a thought to maybe try Perfect Pearls down the line. I bet that would be pretty too. The word "Obsessed" on the Soft Blush spine I felt was super appropriate. It seems that people who love Jane Austen, really LOVE Jane Austen. It is actually just a book title I made up to go along with the Annie Dillard quote in Bibliophile. Describes a lot of us bibliophiles. Before I close the book on the month (pun intended), I thought I'd put this out there for you. It's all the book quotations included in Bibliophile. Generally speaking, the quotation stamps and the author stamps are separate. And because I used just about every square millimeter available to me on the $24 set, I had to get creative with placing the stamps on the sheet. That means you get lots of stamps, but things might not be grouped on your physical set in the most logical of manners. I figured you were all OK with as many stamps as possible, right? :) Refer back to this to see who said what. This is also included in the pull out sheet that comes with your stamp set, so if you decided to make Bibliophile part of your collection, you'll have a hard copy too. OK. Off to start my day. Thanks again and happy stamping. Bibliophile and the dies will be available tomorrow night at 10 PM EST at Papertrey Ink. Looking forward to seeing your creations. It's feeling more like Autumn every day here; we have just a hint of gold in a few treetops, though it's still early for color changes. I love fall when the mornings and evenings are crisp, and the days are still warm! So, in the spirit of impending Autumn, I have a card for you using Papertrey Ink's new Autumn Acorns set along with its coordinating Autumn Acorns die collection. For patterned papers I used Cosmo Cricket's Earth Love Mini Deck. Embellishments are both PTI as well--vintage button and rustic twine. That's it--one simple card. Thanks for stopping by!
This is a first. The colors of the SCS Color Challenge this week; Cranberry, Gumball Green and Vanilla with a dessert of Christmas, were so awesome together, I ended up making 2! I never make 2! :) I made this first card using Sweet & Sassy's Christmas Light. (I won this set with a matching die about 8 months ago) I instantly thought of set this with the Christmas dessert. Isn't this just fun! Yeah, I really like this set a lot! I also used Gina K Designs Pretty Patterns for the background stamping. I am also trying to win some Verve by playing in the July monthly sketch challenges over at SCS. The sketch this week was lovely To be honest, I actually did win this Verve stamp set, Bloom & Grow, along with the matching die, from Jen del Muro's blog commenting. However, you can't have too much Verve~ :). I happen to love free. See what I mean about these colors working fabulous together! LOVE IT! Thanks for stopping by~

Good morning and welcome to Day 4 of the January Papertrey Ink countdown. Today we're featuring a couple of sets with latin flair. I love the bold and graphic look of the stamps we're introducing this morning. They encourage the use of such bright and cheerful colors and who doesn't love that?! This time of year, that flash of vivid color can go a long way to add happiness to a gray day (and we've had plenty of those lately). Let's get on to the details! My first card just uses Nichole's new Latin Motifs set. These images have a folk-art style that you're going to love! I began by stamping the sun onto a panel of white cardstock. I trimmed away part of that panel to give a peek at the card base underneath. I stamped the sentiment and then adhered that layer to an Aqua Mist card base that I'd stamped with a line pattern from the set. I used Tropical Teal ink to give a nice, bold contrast. Next, I stamped the bird onto scrap cardstock using Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy inks. I trimmed around it and played with the wings a little until they had a slight curve. I attached the bird to the card front with foam tape, using two layers under the wings to give that curve some support. Aren't those colors perfect for encouraging someone who needs it? Next up, I've paired the flowers from Latin Motifs with the leaves in my Palm Prints set. I began by sponging and speckling a white card base with Aqua Mist ink. Then, I stamped the card base with a few leaves and added in some die cuts for a bit of variety. I used both flat and foam adhesives to give plenty of dimension. Then I stamped and trimmed out the flowers. I wanted a nice pop of color, so I went with bright oranges. I tucked the flowers in around the leaves and then topped everything off with a simple sentiment strip. I'm really loving that orange! That's all for me, friends. Thank you so much for stopping by today! Make sure to check in with Nichole, Amy, Ashley, Betsy, Dawn, Heather, Kay, Laurie S., Laurie W., Melissa, and Maile to see more inspiration. Have a great day and I'll see you again soon! It's day three of reveals for the February release at Papertrey Ink with products becoming available for sale on the 27th at 10pm EST. Today, we are introducing you to Elegant Eggs dies + Feathered Friends Mini 20 stamp set and dies + Inside Greetings: Spring Blessings. I have three cards that showcase these new products! I wanted to place these sweet new chicks in the middle of lots of blooms to portray spring bursting forth, so I used Into the Blooms II dies along with the nest image from an older stamp set (Hello Pumpkin). I used the Border Bling: Tin Stitch die for the background and sponged Harvest Gold ink along the edges. Nuvo embellishment mousse works well when you add water to a small portion of it on an acrylic block. You can pick it up with a small brush and splatter it onto the background. It gives a hint of sheen without being too glittery. I stamped the chicks in Harvest Gold then added more dimension by flicking Copic markers (Y11 and YR12) along the edges and at shadowed areas and also on the legs. Prismacolor pencils were used to add details to the flowers. I clear embossed the nest and gold embossed the sentiment. STAMPS: Feathered Friends Mini 20, Hello Pumpkin INK: Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Honey Nut, Orange Zest, True Black, Classic Kraft, Dark Chocolate PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface, White DIES: Into the Blooms II, Feathered Friends Mini 20, Hello Pumpkin, Mix & Mat: Postal, Border Bling: Tin Stitch, Pattern Party OTHER: Nuvo Embellishment Mousse gold, Prismacolor pencils, Clear embossing powder These elegant egg dies are another favorite from this release! I had a panel of pink and orange alcohol inks in my leftover stash and decided to go with that color combo for this mini slimline card.I color blended matching dye inks - Raspberry Fizz from PTI and Apricot from Pinkfresh Studios - onto Bristol Smooth Surface paper. It's my go to choice for color blending! Here's a photo of all the elements I used...including an inside sentiment. I am trying to do better with adding some details to the inside of my cards and love that PTI has great sentiments for inside greetings! I try to coordinate it with the card front in some way and here I used Bitty Big: Raspberry Fizz patterned paper. I love that there is a tiny butterfly die you can layer over the one egg to add dimension! I couldn't resist using moonshine sequins for embellishments and they are available from PTI! I love that they come in three different sizes. STAMPS: Inside Greetings: Spring Blessings INK: Raspberry Fizz, Apricot, Alcohol inks PAPER: White, Bristol Smooth Surface, Yupo, Bitty Big: Raspberry Fizz DIES: Elegant Eggs, Layerz Mat Stack 1 OTHER: Mini Slimline Essential Bundle My last card features an elegant version of the largest egg in the Elegant Eggs set. I wanted to keep it clean and simple. Gold Mirror card stock was used as the egg background and also for the butterfly. The filigree die part was cut from an alcohol ink panel that also has gold alloy ink along with the blue ink. I smooshed the leafy die into Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn and Cracked Pistachio distress inks. After it dried, I splattered Mowed Lawn and watered down Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in gold. Inside of card is on the left
Hello! I hope you have been enjoying as nice a weekend as we have. I just can't stop reaching for this set "Lovely Layers" from Papertrey Ink. I thought I would play along with the current challenge at The Play Date Cafe, and this weeks PTI Make It Monday challenge - Stamping on texture. I used three colors to stamp my floral centerpiece, SU Bermuda Bay, and So Saffron, and a pretty little aqua cube by Studio G. The chevron background is from the "Sweet Day collection" by Echo Park. I hope you like my card and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Tomorrow I will be drawing the winner for my Fresh Ink pad blog giveaway, just leave a comment HERE for your chance to win!
