Layered dies are fun to work with and they open lots of options for creativity Today I'm sharing an idea of how you can add an interesting texture to die cut layers featuring the new Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Rose.
Hello friends! I'm so happy to be joining in the Altenew Blog Hop to celebrate the release of the gorgeous Craft-A-Flower: Antique Rose Layering Die Set! You should have arrived from the amazing Erum Tasneem's blog! If you need to start at the beginning, head over to the Altenew Card Blog! I have always been amazed by Altenew's beautiful layering dies! This is another one that is so much fun! Another thing I really love is that there are three ways to purchase the Antique Rose Layering Die Set! You can purchase just the Layering Die Set, get it bundled with Altenew's Gradient Card Stock (which is excellent quality) or join the Subscription Plan to save! Click the photos to get to Altenew's shop! For my card, I decided to get a bit outside my comfort zone and create a rose with shades of blue using the Sea Shore Gradient Card Stock! I followed the included layering guide for die cutting the flower layers. For the leaves, I used Green Meadows Gradient Card Stock. Following the layering guide, I adhered all of the layers together with liquid glue and set them aside to dry. Next I used the Angled Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder with some 80# Neenah and cut it to 5-½" x 4-¼". I adhered the embossed piece to a top-folding card base. I totally love the dimension of this embossing folder! I added foam squares to the back of the flower and adhered it to the card. The leaves are adhered with foam squares or liquid glue. Next I used a sentiment from the Tranquility Rose stamp set and stamped it in Versamark onto black card stock. I sprinkled on some white embossing powder, heat set it, and trimmed it into a thin strip. I used foam tape to adhere it and added a few coordinating gem crystals for a touch of bling! I loved creating my card with the beautiful Antique Rose Layering Die and hope I've given you some inspiration! Your next stop on the hop is the awesome and so talented Laurie Willison! Giveaway Prizes! $200 in total prizes! Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 2 lucky winners and a $20 gift certificate to 5 winners! Hello there, I'm delighted to be joining Altenew today for the December 2023 release. There are lots of ink pads releasing today plus the December 2023 subscription products, new pouches and gouache. I have a lot to share today, so I hope you will grab a drink and snack and enjoy the inspiration. PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure. For my first card, I used the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Calla Lily Layering Die Set. The dies were cut from white cardstock and ink blended using Altenew Rock Collection Fresh Dye Inks (Limestone), Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks (Chamomile and Sunray) and Green Valley Crisp Dye Inks (all four shades). The leaves and stems were adhered first to a US A2 sized white card base with liquid glue, followed by the flower heads using Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. The sentiment from the Altenew Soft Blossoms Stamp Set was stamped onto black cardstock using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the card with more foam tape. To finish off, I added Raindrops embellishments. My next card uses the Altenew Dynamic Duo: Dainty Roses stamp and stencil combo. I started off stencilling the roses and leaves onto a panel of white cardstock using Altenew Enchanted Garden Crisp Dye Inks and Green Valley Crisp Dye Inks. I then took the stamp set and stamped the line detail onto the image using Altenew Obsidian Pigment Ink. The panel was adhered to a US A2 sized white card base using Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. The sentiment was stamped onto black cardstock using Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was into a strip and adhered to the card with more foam tape. To finish off, I embellished with Raindrops. My next card uses the new Altenew Sugarplums Fresh Dye Inks. I die cut the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Open Peony Layering Die Set from white cardstock and added ink blending to the petals with the Sugarplums inks (all four shades). The flower centre was blended with Altenew Fall Harvest Crisp Dye Inks and the leaves with Altenew Rock Collection Fresh Dye Inks. The flower was assembled using liquid glue. I adhered the leaves first to a US A2 sized white card base, followed by the flower. The sentiment from the Altenew Soft Blossoms Stamp Set was stamped and heat embossed onto black cardstock and cut into a strip. It was adhered to the card with more foam tape. To finish off, I added Bubbles embellishments. My next card uses the new Altenew Glacier Caves Fresh Dye Inks. I die cut the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Garden Rose Layering Die Set from white cardstock. Using an Altenew Mini Blending Brush, I blended Glacier Caves inks on top for the petals, Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks for the centre and Green Valley Crisp Dye Inks for the leaves. I adhered the leaves first onto a US A2 sized white card base with liquid glue. The flowers were then adhered on top using Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. The sentiment from the Altenew Soft Blossoms Stamp Set was stamped and heat embossed onto black cardstock and cut into a strip. It was adhered to the card with more foam tape. To finish, I embellished with Bubbles. My last card for today uses Altenew Spark Joy: Ornamental Bouquet. I foiled the hot foil plate onto white cardstock using Altenew Brushed Gold Hot Foil. I then used the stencil set to colour the image using ink blending. I used the new Altenew Dried Petals Fresh Dye Inks for the pink flower. I used Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks for the smaller flowers and then Green Valley Crisp Dye Inks for the leaves. I fussy cut it out using scissors (but there is an add-on die available). I then took a 3.75" x 5.5" card base and splattered on the new Altenew Carbon Black Artists' Gouache. Once dry, the image was adhered on top with Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. The sentiment from the Altenew Essential Sentiments Hot Foil Plate Set was foiled, cut into a strip and adhered to the card. Also releasing this month are new Dreaming in Watercolor Zipper Pouches. These are so pretty! There is a large and small (pocket) size and can be used for lots of different things. The larger pouch is perfect for holding Altenew stamps, dies and products. Perfect for a project bag, if you want to keep everything together. I think I might use the smaller one as a pouch to take items to my sofa if I want to do some sketching or planning. It's a good size to hold a little sketchbook, washi tape, pens and markers. BLOG HOP: This blog post is part of a fun, inspirational blog hop with prizes. For some reason, I just love metal dies. Sure, I realize there are alternatives out there with electronic machines and digital files. However, there is something about running a die manually through a machine and picking out the different types of paper to layer together, that I just love. Putting together 3D dies, for me,

Hello crafty friends! I'm totally thrilled to be joining in the fun to celebrate the new release of Altenew's gorgeous Paint-A-Flower: Coral Sunset Outline Stamp set! You should have arrived here from the awesome Terri Koszler! If you need to begin at the start, head over to the Altenew Card Blog. The Paint-A-Flower: Coral Sunset Outline Stamp set is a beautifully drawn image that you can color any way you want! This is also part of their monthly subscription plan so you won't need to worry about missing out on any of the Pain-A-Flower releases. Click each image to go to Altenew's shop for more information. I had such an enjoyable time watercoloring this beautiful image! I used Altenew's Watercolor 36 Pan Set to do all of my coloring. I stamped the image onto Bristol Smooth card stock with Versamark ink. Then I sprinkled on Rose Gold Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set it. I painted the flowers with multiple layers of Coral Berry. The leaves are painted with Forest Glades and some Bamboo. I painted a diluted wash of Coral Berry around the flower on the background. Then I added some gold metallic spatters after I covered the flowers with scraps of paper. I heat embossed the sentiment onto vellum with Rose Gold Crisp Embossing Powder. Then I wrapped the strip of vellum around the painted panel and popped it up with foam tape. I love the shine of the gold embossing and metallic spatters! Thank you so much for stopping by! I think this stamp set is so beautiful and can't wait to try coloring it with my markers! Up next on the hop is the so talented Nathalie DeSousa! The giveaway details: $200 in total prizes! Hi there crafty friends, Welcome to the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Snapdragon Release Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from Joni Andaya's blog! For today's blog post I've created 2 sets of cards using the gorgeous Build-A-Flower: Snapdragon stamps and dies! Build-A-Flower: Snapdragon & Ink bundle is also available for a discounted price here. On my first cards I stamped the flowers in the background, then I used the Bold Alphabet die set to die cut SMILE and LOVE out from the panel. I die cut these letters 5 more times from color card stock, layered them up and added them back into the panel. I stamped the sentiments in black ink, added gold ink splatters and done. I love this technique so much, not sure who came up with it first, but kudos! I thought I'd go less colorful with my second set, for those of you who might like that better. To create the card on the right, I stamped two flowers on white card stock, then I die cut a circle from it. I added some texture to the negative piece using the Cross Stitch Canvas cover die. I created a shaker window: I adhered some acetate behind the circle cut out, then added two layers of foam tape to the back of this panel. I placed sequins and beads inside and adhered the panel to the card base, which I previously attached the circle with the stamped flowers to. To finish off this card, I splattered some black ink and added a pink bow. For the card on the left I stamped some flowers in various pinks and grays and die cut them. I die cut a white circle also, and stamped my sentiment on it. Using the Cozy Flannel cover die I created a dark gray panel for my white card base. I adhered the circle and added magenta twine around it. I adhered the flowers and finished off this card with sequins and a twine bow. And now the fun part...Giveaways, yay! Hello there, I am delighted to be joining Altenew today to celebrate the release of the January 2023 Marvelous Monthly Series. Releasing today are Build-A-Garden: Grand Carnations, Craft-A-Flower: Orchids, Craft Your Life Project Kit: Meadow Breeze, Mini Delight: Wildly Loved, Paint-A-Flower: Carefree Delight and Spark Joy: Fluttering Butterflies. PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. Please see below for my full disclosure. My card today uses the Craft-A-Flower: Orchids Layering Die Set. This includes the flower petals and three different stems. There are also extra flower centres for you to pick and choose. I started off by die cutting the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Orchids Layering Die Set from white cardstock. I then added ink blending to the flowers using Altenew Rose Petal Crisp Dye Inks Collection (the three darkest shades) with Altenew Small Ink Blending Tools and Mini Ink Blending Brushes. For the stem, I used Altenew Green Valley Crisp Dye Inks (the two lightest shades). The flowers were assembled/layered and adhered with Altenew 2 in 1 Precision Glue Pen. I ran a panel of cardstock through my die cutting machine inside the Altenew Deck Planks 3D Embossing Folder and then adhered it to a US A2 sized white card base with Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape. The stem was adhered on top with glue, followed by the flowers with more foam tape. I stamped the sentiment from the Altenew Sentiment Strips 3 Stamp Set on to black cardstock with Altenew Embossing Ink. I applied Altenew Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and added to the card with more foam tape. To finish off, I added a few Bubbles embellishments. SUPPLIES: Here are the links to what I have used on the project. Hello crafty friends! I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining in the blog hop to celebrate the release of Altenew's gorgeous Craft-A-Flower: Peruvian Lily!! You should have arrived here from Maryam's blog. If you need to start at the beginning, head on over to the Altenew card blog. I also have the entire hop list at the end of this post. This stunning Craft-A-Flower: Peruvian Lily Layering Die set is available to purchase three ways. Either just the Layering Die Set, the Layering Die Set & Gradient Cardstock Bundle (save 5%), or join the Craft-A-Flower Monthly Subscription Plan (at a specially discounted price)! Be sure to check it all out over at the Altenew shop! **************************************************** I decided to go bold with the Peruvian Lilys for my card today! First I created the Peruvian Lilys by die cutting all of the flower pieces. I used Cherry Blossom and Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock Sets, as well as some pink glitter card stock from my stash. I didn't want the flowers to be overwhelmed with glitter so I only used the glitter card stock for one layer of the pieces. For the yellow pieces of the flower, I used the lightest color card stock in the Summer Afternoon set and added some shading with a couple of Copic markers. I did the same for the stamen pieces. Next I adhered all of the layers with glue. I love how dimensional and sparkly these are! For two of the leaf layers I used green card stock from my stash that coordinated with some green glitter card stock in my stash. I used a Copic marker to make the top layer darker. Then I used liquid glue to adhere the layers together. I decided to go for even more high drama and add the gorgeous flowers to a black background! After I embossed the black card stock with the beautiful Areca Palm 3D embossing folder, I adhered it to a pink layer and added the panel to a top folding A2 card base. I then arranged all of the elements and adhered the pieces with liquid glue, and some with black foam squares. I stamped a sentiment from the Marbled Bloom stamp set and popped it up with black foam squares. Thank you so much for stopping by! I'm joining Altenew May Release with a duo-chromatic floral card featuring the new Craft-A-Flower and very cool marble press plate.
I was browsing through my collection of Altenew stamps... and realized that I hadn't used my Majestic Bloom stamp set in a very long time... so...I took out the stamp sett...the dies...some Altenew ink pads...some card stock... and I sat down to create 12 cards... Each with the Majestic Bloom stamp set... Same sketch... but with a few different color palettes and sentiments. I cut out some medium sized scalloped rectangles with MFT's Mini Scalloped Rectangle STAX die I chose to use an assortment of LCI card stock (Metallics and textured wood grain) and an assortment of sentiments and quotes (NOTE: Some sentiments are by Papermakeup....which is no longer in business) . To embellish each card...I added a few Tonic Nuvo Jewel Drops to each card a And..now... I've got a few photos to share of each card version! My birthday card stash is always in need of cards.. so.. I created 7 of this card Sentient: Penned Birthday by Stampendous Base mat layer: LCI Metallic Ebony Card Stock The metallic card stock brings lots of shimmer to this card. Each flower on each card is popped up on fun foam for a nice sturdy lift and added dimension. (I am loving the Jewel Drops...and how they dry clear...but with a hint of color) and...here's another card created with the black metallic card stock... I created one of this card......This sentiment is by Papermakeup I miss that company...and their beautiful quote and sentiment stamps This sentiment seemed ideal for this card I also created one of this card (with this sentiment) with the wood grain textured card stock (shown below) (I forgot to take a photo of that one) This is the LCI GMund Urban Brasilia Wood Grain card stock that I just mentioned above... with a beautiful quote by Impression Obsession I LOVE this awesome LCI Textured Wood Grain card stock... The texture is really nice ...the color is awesome...and the 113 lb weight is fantastic! (I have this card stock in a few different colors...I can't choose a favorite...because they're all terrific! For the last few cards... I switched up the color palette and created 2 of this card.. mainly because (sadly)...I know many many people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I thought that this card...in this color palette...with this beautiful sentiment would be a nice card to send to someone with this diagnosis. This sentiment is by Impression Obsession You've probably figured this out already... So I don't think that I need to tell you that I had a GREAT time creating this stack of 12 cards with this beautiful layering stamp & die set... along with lots of beautiful quotes and sentiments... and some wonderful LCI card stock. I've already taken another Altenew stamp set out of my "Altenew Stamp drawer"... and I'm looking forward to creating another stack of cards with it when I'm in the studio later today...or tomorrow. Thanks for visiting today, my crafty and creative friends! Have a great day! Michelle.

I'm playing in the cave today with water and Distress Inks, both regular and oxide. I made a similar card on Saturday, but this time I wanted more flowers and more masking so the bouquet was fuller. I used my Misti to stamp several similar ones. I had to go back and add flowers at the top on two of them because my inky fingers smudged the top corner - I hate it when that happens! Oh well, I actually like the two with the flowers in the top right corner anyway! I stamped and masked and stamped these images from the Altenew Wild Hibiscus stamp set and stamped the sentiments from Concord & 9th Map Love stamp set. Then I experimented with different ways to color them with Distress Inks. Lastly, I added little tiny black dots for interest in the background. Which one do you like the best? And why? I can't really decide, but I think my favs are the top left and bottom left......not really sure! Leave me a comment and let me know which one you like best! This one was watercolored in Distress Inks in soft colors with lots of water: This one was watercolored in Distress Inks with light and bold colors: This one was watercolored with a mix of Distress Oxide and regular Distress Inks: This one was sponged with Distress Oxide Inks: I will enter one of these in the Cas-ual Friday's Off the Edge Challenge
