We started teaching the 4 year old class at our church this past week. They are sweetest and silliest group of kiddos. I love this age group. We hear all sorts of stories (good ones...it's church!). My favorite part is when they tell me all they know about our topic each week. They always surprise

Bible ABC's: C is for Caleb These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme. Consider these an update with new ideas and printables! These information Anchor Charts are included. These Event Cards can be used as smaller visuals and they can be shuffled for the student to re-tell the events and lay them in order. There are three extra pictures to color that I found at Pixabay. The full-page size visuals and pictures-to-color can be downloaded below. This Spin-the-Wheel is available in color and black & white (although the color graphics don't transfer well to black and white this small). These are a fun way to re-tell the events. I added these 'headbands' since they were traveling. Have the students wear these, purchase telescopes or binoculars to spy out the land! Have grapes, figs and pomegranates to find. I added pictures to print that can be hidden and searched for as a last minute or cheaper resource. A stick can be inserted in the vine loop to 'carry' the grapes. There are two grape cluster mazes (one hard and one is easy) and a dot-to-dot. There is a set of Stand-Ups with a fill page and half page background. There is a set of 5 and 10 piece puzzles. There are alphabet mazes and worksheets included. These are half-sheets and can be used in Interactive Notebooks. Click here to see a free video on how to make and use Interactive Notebooks. The grapes are dots and can be traced and colored, painted, use Dot Markers, etc. There is a Situational Reaction/Action Application page included with ideas for the students to apply this lesson to themselves. Click here to download the lesson and application printables. This is a one-page foldable book in color and black and white. These pages can also be cut apart and used as flash cards to put the events in order. Click here to download. The visuals are not all shown that are in the download. ABC's in Acts: H is for Healing Peter and John Healed the Lame Man These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme. Consider these an update with new ideas and printables! A set of Stand-Ups in color and black & white. I print the color to use as a review visual and the black & white for the students. Or, they love the color ones if you can print them and don't want to spend the time coloring. Take them to a separate table or space like an activity center/area to review/retell the lesson and keep these in your file to use again the next time! This gets them up and moving and it's fun for them. The worksheet includes a teacher's answer sheet with scripture references. The man is healed! Easy Foldable. Add a piece of fabric for him to 'sit' on. Students can draw bowl with coins. Fill-in-the-blank, word search and maze. The first two have teacher's answer sheets included. I designed the Trip Strip to be a cut & glue timeline. This one shown has lines for the students to write about each event. Or, they can write the scriptures. There is another worksheet without the writing space. These can easily be used for mixed age groups. Cut and glue according to directions. This is not included in the application pack. Click here to download. These information Anchor Charts are included. These Event Cards can be used as smaller visuals and they can be shuffled for the student to re-tell the events and lay them in order. The same full-page size visuals and pictures-to-color can be downloaded below. There are alphabet mazes and worksheets included. These are half-sheets and can be used in Interactive Notebooks. I attended a Bible teacher's workshop and wanted to share some of the photos. The photos are mine, please excuse the roughness, I miss my good camera, but you can get the general idea. And, that is what I want to do, is share ideas for teaching Jesus! I do have permission from the women that held the workshop to share the photos. Some of the ideas you see are found in old Ideashop magazines, if you still have them! If you have specific questions on how to do something, the questions for the chart, etc, let me know and I will find out. Please allow a short time for me to return the answer. Please, keep in mind, that examples for the ideas were put all over the walls, so you will not see finished bulletin boards, etc. It is ideas for you to make! And, I did not crop the photos. Here they are, in random order: Some of the walls first Jonah & the Great Fish wall visual These creation background boards are felt and/or fabric attached to a board, and then you add pictures, etc for each day of creation. I forgot about these, until I looked at the photos... and I REALLY need to make them! The base (center) of the flower has "blessed are the..." , then students add the center over that with the answer. This is the finished flower pot. Balaam The 3 kings: Saul, David, and Solomon. You can see what I did with the 3 kings here. Solomon's Temple Info Wall Jonah tossed from the boat into the water, then... Jonah in the Great Fish (I think that might be attached with Velcro and added after Jonah is swallowed), then, next is a couple of Jonah table visuals. Joseph (above) next is Prophets. Prophets Love is the Key Number 1 Judges Facts from Acts The Cross
VERSES: Joel 1:1-3:21 MEMORY VERSE: Joel 2:13 "...rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD you God..." BOOK TO REMEMBER: Hebrews. Write "Hebrews" on small slips of paper and hand out at the end of Bible class, so the students may take it home to memorize. PRAYER: Thank God for the wonderful food that He gives us. Thank Him for being a good, kind, and merciful God that loves us so very much. SPECIAL SONG: Jesus Loves Me (see February - Songs We Sing In Bible Class #2 on this blog) VISUAL AID: Large Activity (see below) LESSON POINTS: What do we know about Joel? Joel, like Hosea, was one of the minor prophets, which meant that he only wrote a little bit compared to other prophets, writing only three chapters in his book. We do not know much about Joel as a person, only what he wrote. His name means "Jehovah Is God." Sometimes Joel is called the "Prophet of Pentecost" because some his prophecies (Joel 2:28-32) were fulfilled in the book of Acts in the New Testament on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:16-47). He pleaded with the people to repent from their wickedness and return to God, like all of the prophets did before him and after him. What made Joel a little different than some of the other prophets is that, during, his warnings and pleadings with the people, there was a great pestilence. A 'pestilence' is like a plague. Remember our lessons on the Plagues of Egypt (see the lessons in April and May on the Plagues 1-10 on this blog)? A pestilence was a tremendous amount of insects that would infect the land and do much damage to the crops, so there would be a famine or no food to eat. Here, in Joel's time, the beginning of the pestilence that ravaged the land were thousands and thousands of locusts. They ate and ate and eventually they went away. Then when the locusts had eaten all they could, there was still a little bit of stalks on the plants; not much, but there was a little bit left. Next, the palmerworms , which was a type of caterpillar, came after the locusts and ate all they could, but there was little bit left. After the palmerworms, the cankerworms, which were certain types of moths and their larvae, came and ate a little bit more. And, finally, the caterpillars came and ate what the cankerworms left. Then...there was no food at all for the people. There were no grapes, no figs, no corn, no oil, no wheat, no barley, no pomegranates, no fruit of the palm trees, no apples, no seeds, no food at all for the animals or the people. The people suffered. Joel said that the reason for their suffering and the pestilence was because God wanted the people to be sorry for the wrongs that they had been doing, and to weep, fast, mourn, and tear their hearts, not their clothes, and to turn to Him again. Joel said that God was good, gracious and kind, that He was slow to get angry and was merciful to those who returned to Him. Joel pleaded with the people to do good, but they would not listen. God was ready to give the people all the things back if they would only return to Him, but they would not repent or be sorry for their wicked deeds, "Older Student" Tips: The book of Joel is written in two main parts. The first part is Joel speaking (Joel 1:1-2:17) and the second part is God speaking (Joel 2:18-3:21). ACTIVITY: What Happened In The Book Of JOEL Materials needed: 9" x 12" light blue construction paper, five pieces of white bond paper, crayons, marker, stapler, staples, scissors. Because there is a lot of writing with pictures, it might a good idea for the Bible teacher to cut both the blue and the white papers in half, lengthwise. Or, the books could even be stapled together in advance. See what is best for your size of class. Hand out two pieces of 4.5" light blue paper. Hand out ten pieces of 4.25" x 11" white paper. Place the ten white papers inside the two blue papers. Line papers up on one side. Staple on the left side of the papers. NUMBER THE WHITE PAGES ONLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE. FRONT COVER: Write "What Happened In The Book Of JOEL.'. INSIDE BLUE COVER: Draw Joel preaching. Write the word REPENT in a speech bubble. PAGE 1: Write "Joel was a prophet of God." PAGE 2: Write "Because the people turned away from God, bad things happened." Write the word, "away" in red. BACK OF PAGE 2: Blank. PAGE 3: Draw a healthy looking green plant with a few locusts eating the leaves. Idea: The Students can trace their thumbs for the bodies of the locusts, adding eyes, wings, and legs. BACK OF PAGE 3: Blank. PAGE 4: Write: "But there was a little bit left." BACK OF PAGE 4: Write "Next, the palmerworms came and ate all they could." PAGE 5: Draw an unhealthy looking greenish plant with brown wiggles for palmerworms on the plant. BACK OF PAGE 5: Blank. PAGE 6: Write "But there was a little bit left." BACK OF PAGE 6: Write "Then the cankerworms came and ate all they could." PAGE 7: Draw a stem of a plant with brown circles with a line through the, (like the "NO" sign) and brown lines for the cankerworms and larvae. The cankerworm is supposed to look like a small moth. BACK OF PAGE 7: Blank. PAGE 8: Write "But there was a little bit left." BACK OF PAGE 8: Write "Finally, the caterpillars came and ate all they could." PAGE 9: Draw a picture of hardly any green stem at all with orange caterpillars on it. BACK OF PAGE 9: Blank. PAGE 10: Write "There was nothing left." BACK OF PAGE 10: Write "No grapes. No figs. No corn. No oil. No wheat. No barley. no pomegranates. No fruit of the palm trees. No apples. No seeds. NO FOOD!" Write NO FOOD in red. INSIDE BACK BLUE COVER: Write: The people suffered, but they did not learn." in red. Below that, write: "(Food is a blessing from God.)"

Saw this "craft" clothespin Whale and Jonah. Looks like they made it with foam sheets and a simple "found everywhere" colorable cut-out of a Bible character. Made me wonder how we could make clamping clothespin representations of other key parts of the story too. The king of Nineveh putting ashes on his head. The worm munching the plant. God 'opening up' Jonah's eyes to the concept of God's forgiveness and mercy, Opening your mouth to speak of God's mercy.

A new lesson for this upcoming Sunday!!! We are going to be learning about Isaiah the Prophet. We will be learning about how he was called by GOD to be a Prophet. I am so excited about this lesson. It is such an AMAZING EVENT!! Our Who? What? When? Where? Where? Why? and How Is this important to me? Cards are in place and ready for Sunday. Our interactive BULLETIN BOARD WALL is become VERY FULL!!!! I LOVE it when the KIDDOS use the BULLETIN BOARD wall to FIND information to answer questions. That is the PURPOSE to this WALL. It is FULL of information to help the KIDDOS (and me) remember what we have learned. We have two new words to add to our WORD WALL. I want to make sure the KIDDOS know what COAL and TONGS are. No confusion means better understanding of the lesson. We have a NEW CARD to add to our "GOD'S AWESOME PLAN for MAN" Wall. The KIDDOS MEMORY VERSE comes directly from the Lesson Text. They will probably have this one memorized before leaving the classroom on Sunday. We have a NEW SONG to learn this week. I am excited about this song. I know the KIDDOS will LOVE it. It is my goal to have a song to go with EVERY lesson that I teach. If you would like to hear this song click on the link below. Isaiah Was a Prophet Song--by Ronda Duvall The KIDDOS will be making "COAL" as their TAKE HOME project. This is made out of an air dry clay made by Crayola. I just formed LUMPS of COAL and let them dry...PAINTED them to look like hot coal and walla...COAL! :-) During class time the KIDDOS will add the STICK ON EYES and FLAG that has "Here Am I, Send Me!" printed on it. We will assist with gluing the FLAG into the hole. I think it turned out CUTE and will be a GREAT REMINDER of this lesson. For our REVIEW GAME we will be playing a HOT COALS Pick Up Game. The KIDDOS will use the TONGS you see in the pictures and PICK up a piece of Hot Coal. The Coal has question on the bottom side....they will have to ANSWER the question they PICKED...if they do not know the answer they have to PUT it back on the Altar. The ALTAR is made from a small crate---I picked it up at WALMART and painted it GOLD. The TONGS came from HOBBY LOBBY. I found them in the PARTY SECTION. The COAL is made out of Crayola Model Magic. I just formed them and let them dry. Then painted them...They are very LIGHT and will be easy for the KIDDOS to lift with the TONGS. I printed the QUESTION on STICKER paper and stuck them to the bottom of the "COAL." I tried writing on the coal with a silver sharpie...and it worked...I just write REALLY BIG. If you write small then you can write directly on the piece of "COAL." Next week the KIDDOS will be making these to add to their EXPLORER JOURNAL. The COAL came from ORIENTAL TRADING....It is COAL GUM and a "GROW in WATER" coal mixture. I would just suggest that you coat them with modge podge to keep them from crumbling way. Due to my RUSHING to get the website updated---I FORGOT to share our VISUALS with you....I am sooo sorry. Our visual aid is made out of Clip Art, Laminate, a Copy Paper Box Lid, and Plastic Caps. OH, and I added a piece of "COAL" to the Seraphim's tongs. It is the same "Grow In Water Coal" that the KIDDOS will be using next week on their Explorer Journal Activity Page. I love using clip art for visuals...because, sometimes it is hard to find visuals for certain Bible stories. I am happy with the way this visual aid turned out...I can't wait to teach this lesson this Sunday!!! I am excited about teaching this LESSON. I know the KIDDOS will be intrigued with all the happenings of Isaiah being called to be GOD'S Prophet. Blessings, Ronda

ABC's in Acts These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme. Just consider them an update with new ideas and printables to teach the book of Acts! Wow! I have had these thought about, started, lessons done, ideas worked on, etc. and everything in between since before 2015! Since these are more like updates with new printables, I decided to do them in groups. They divide nice for two quarters since there are at least 26. Really, there are only a couple of alphabet worksheets which do not have to be used to teach these as a book of Acts series. Jesus was first, then this ABC's in Acts, and Old Testament lessons Bible ABC's will complete the Bible ABC's. Most of these are about Paul since most of Acts was written about Paul. The lessons are typically longer because they are more in-depth. Most have a huge selection of application choices with a bigger variety for different ages. All the visuals have been updated. Please note that some files have worksheets that are not intended for Bible classes. They are intended for learning situations such as homeschool, Christian daycare, Christian schools, Mother's Day Out, etc. They are mostly in chronological order instead of alphabetically. Assorted games for kids to play for learning about Pentecost as found in Acts 2. Supporting material available.
The Tower of Babel is a short lesson, so I created a cut & glue worksheet that can be used to discuss the things that we should build our life on that God wants. To go with the building theme, I have the cutest toolbox and tools for you! It can be used for any lesson and the kids are going to LOVE it! The people in the lesson wanted to build the tower as a monument to themselves, but God wants expects us to live for Him. Also, at the beginning of the lesson, I had cards printed with Hello in different languages, and we all talked at the same time. That's not a new idea, but one I have done every time I teach this lesson! Review: Last week we studied Noah. The people on earth were so sinful, that God decided to destroy the earth. He wanted to save Noah because of his faithfulness, so God told Noah to build an ark, so Noah did. No complaining, or whining, he just did it! It took him and his three sons 120 years to build it. When it was finished, the animals went into the ark, Noah and his wife, their three sons: Shem, Ham, Japheth and their wives went in. God closed the door and it rained. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights and there was water on the earth for 150 days. When it was dry, they came out, and Noah made an altar and offered sacrifices to God. God put a rainbow in the sky and said it was a reminder of His promise that He would never destroy the earth by water again. FYI: 1.) Babel is like the Hebrew word for confusion & 2.) there are 2800 known different languages in the world now. Lesson is found in Genesis 11:1-9: Today we are going to learn about what happened after the flood. God didn’t like the sinfulness of the people in the world, do you think they changed? Well, over time, each of Noah’s sons had children, and so on. That is in chapter 10 of Genesis. Noah is still alive, and chapter 11 tells us that the whole earth had one language and over time, they moved from the east and lived in a valley in the land of Shinar. (Shine’ ar) God had told the people to multiply and spread out over all the land. But they just went one direction and lived in one area. The people talked to each other and decided to make bricks and bake them carefully. They said “Let’s build a city with a tower that will reach the heavens. We will make a name for ourselves!” They wanted everyone to know how great they were! But when God came to see the city and their tower, He didn’t like what they were doing. They had one language, and they were not using it to praise God, they wanted men to praise them for their city! God decided to ‘confuse their language’, that means that now there are all different languages, and nobody could understand what the next person was saying! Think about how confusing that would be. “Hey, hand me that brick.” Blah, blah, what are you saying? It made it impossible for them to finish the project, just like God intended. They stopped building the city and they spread out all over the earth. So, the place was called Babel, because God confused the language and the people moved to other parts of the earth. Something to think about, we discussed in class that these people didn't do what God wanted, they were not building the tower to please God, they wanted the glory and praise of men. God didn't like it. We talked more about Noah from last week, and Noah built the boat just as God told him to. Maybe, Noah wanted to use different wood, or thought there should be more than one window, but he did it exactly as God told him to, and it saved his family. God told us exactly what He wants for worship. We are here to worship Him, not be entertained. God has given the instructions to follow for worship... How do you think God feels when we don't worship Him like we are instructed? I used language cards and handed them out to everyone. I said 'Hello!' and asked them to read their cards. Then, I had everyone just mumble at the same time to see how confusing it all was. This was so fun! These have been updated. Each word or phrase has the English word at the top. The translation language is on the left side with the translated word(s) in the box at the bottom. They are all black and white. These are easy to use and print. There is a blank page to add your own words or to let the student write their own (if you have wi-fi). You can also type in your own words at Google Translate (if you have wi-fi) and listen to the languages. If you have anyone that speaks a different language, ask them to come in and talk to the students. It doesn't even matter what they say because they cannot understand it anyway! Our assistant speaks Spanish, so we just talked. She kept saying things, and I said I don't understand and there was a lot of hand waving. That was a lot of fun and put it in perspective for them. Click here to download the language cards. This is the project I made for this lesson. I wanted something about building but building to please God. I just added a general title on this so it could be used for other lessons also. You can print the teacher's copy which looks like the photo, all finished. For the students, all the blocks are on the second page for them to cut out and glue to the title page. This is intended to be used as a conversation starter on what God wants from us, with a couple of blank spots for them to fill in. Prayer & worship would be good to fill in the blanks but see what is discussed and add your choices. Student: Color B/W This is how the first cuts for the toolbox should look. You cut off the extra around the two end handles, BUT you DO NOT cut off the sides! When it is folded, they will be stapled and/or taped together to make the box for the 'tools' that will fit inside. I printed mine on heavy cardstock. After you cut the two top edges off, cut out the rectangles for the two handles. Fold the sides and snip the lines, tow on each side. When you pull the sides up, it will form the toolbox. I stapled the sides together, then used Scotch tape to cover the staples so the kids don't get hurt. The toolbox is black & white, to be printed on your choice of cardstock. You can print it here: Color B/W Spanish: Color B/W Spanish translation @ http://translate.google.com/ Special thanks to Christy Lampley for the extra help with the Spanish translation correction! I appreciate it! I also added these construction hats. I had them for a different lesson, but decided they really needed to be with the cute toolboxes! I printed what I needed, one for the front and one for the back onto cardstock. I cut them out and put them through my Xyron Sticker Maker and everything matches! You can print the labels here. You can purchase the construction hats here. Click here to print. Click here to download the updated visuals. Click here to download the pictures to color.
