La Estatua de Asurnasirpal II es una escultura datada aproximadamente entre los años 883 a.C. y 859 a.C., perteneciente al arte mesopotámico. Estatua de Asurnasirpal II Fue hallada en mayo del año 1.850 d.C. durante las excavaciones arqueológicas realizadas por el arqueólogo británico Austen Henry Layard. En el templo de Ishtar Belit Mati, situado en la antigua ciudad de Nimrud (también conocida como Kalhu), localizada junto al río Tigris, al norte de Mesopotamia. En la actualidad esta localización se corresponde con una zona en ruinas situada aproximadamente a 30 km al sudoreste de la ciudad de Mosul, en Irak. En el año 1.851 d.C. la Estatua de Asurnasirpal II fue adquirida por el Museo Británico de Londres (Gran Bretaña), dónde paso a formar parte de su colección de arte. Estatua de Asurnasirpal II ¿ Quién fue Asurnasirpal II ? Asurnasirpal II fue un rey de Asia, gobernó aproximadamente entre los años 883 a.C y 859 a.C., por un período de 24 años. Durante su gobierno se realizaron al menos catorce campañas militares, en todas ellas destaca la brutalidad con la que fueron realizadas. Además de su reinado también destaca la fundación de la capital del antiguo imperio asirio, la ciudad de Kalkhu (también conocida como Nimrud). Estatua de Asurnarsirpal II Descripción La escultura tiene una altura de 113 cm, una anchura de 32 cm y una profundidad de 15 cm. La base presenta una altura de 77,5 cm, una anchura de 56,5 cm y una profundidad de 37 cm. La escultura se encuentra fabricada en magnesita, mientras que la base cuadrada se encuentra elaborada en dolomita rojiza. Tanto la escultura, como la base se encuentran fabricadas mediante la técnica de tallado. Se trata de una escultura de bulto redondo o exenta que representa una figura masculina en posición de pie, es la representación del rey Asurnasirpal II. Estatua de Asurnasirpal II En la parte superior destaca como el rey se encuentra representado con la cabeza descubierta, sin la corona real. Además el cabello es largo y le llega hasta la altura de los hombros, también tiene una larga barba rizada. Está ataviado con una túnica de manga corta, cubierta por un chal largo con flecos que cubre la mayor parte del cuerpo por debajo de la cintura. Así mismo se aprecia como el chal se encuentra estirado alrededor de la espalda y sobre el brazo izquierdo, para después en la parte delantera situarse sobre el hombro derecho, aparte de estar atado a la cintura mediante un cinturón. El brazo derecho se encuentra estirado pegado al cuerpo, se observa como con la mano derecha sostiene una hoz ceremonial (usualmente utilizada por los dioses para combatir monstruos). En cuanto al brazo izquierdo, éste se encuentra doblado sobre la cintura, mientras sostiene una maza con la mano izquierda, la maza simboliza la autoridad del rey como vice-regente del dios supremo. Para finalizar subrayar que sobre el pecho hay una inscripción tallada, la inscripción tiene un total de ocho líneas escritas en escritura cuneiforme dónde se encuentran escritos el nombre y los títulos del rey. También afirma que el rey había conquistado toda la región situada desde el río Tigris hasta el Monte Líbano y el Gran Mar (el Mar Mediterráneo). Actualmente se encuentra en el Museo Británico de Londres, Gran Bretaña.

La Escultura del Dios Tláloc es una escultura datada aproximadamente entre los años 1.300 d.C. y 1.521 d.C., perteneciente al arte precolombino, en concreto al arte azteca o arte mexica. Escultura del Dios Tláloc Cabe resaltar que el año de su descubrimiento es desconocido, pero se sabe que fue hallada durante las excavaciones arqueológicas realizadas en la zona norte de la antigua ciudad de México-Tenochtilán, la capital del Imperio mexica. En el año 1.954 d.C. la Escultura del Dios Tláloc fue adquirida por el Museo Británico de Londres (Gran Bretaña), dónde pasó a formar parte de su colección de arte dentro del departamento de arte de Africa, Oceanía y América. Descripción Tiene una altura de 22 cm, una anchura de 22 cm y una profundidad de 18 cm. Esta fabricado en piedra volcánica, mediante las técnicas de tallado e incisión. Se trata de una escultura de bulto redondo o exenta que representa la cabeza del dios Tlaloc (dios mexica de la lluvia y del relámpago). Escultura del Dios Tláloc Esta representado con una cara antropomorfa con anteojos redondos y los huecos de los ojos vacíos. Aunque originalmente se piensa que las cuencas de los ojos podrían haber contenido incrustaciones de piedras preciosas. La boca se encuentra entreabierta y los labios se asemejan a la representación de una bigotera debido a su grosor. También se observa como en las orejas lleva orejeras colgantes con formas geométricas. El cabello se encuentra representado por medio de finas incisiones verticales situados alrededor del rostro y en la frente. Además se aprecia como en la parte superior de la cabeza lleva una corona o adorno ornamentado con una decoración compuesta por una cenefa de dos círculos concéntricos situados dentro de una banda horizontal. Para finalizar subrayar que los investigadores piensan que originalmente la cabeza podría haber formado parte de una escultura de cuerpo entero, pero que no ha llegado hasta la actualidad. Actualmente se encuentra en el Museo Británico de Londres, Gran Bretaña.

Roma 2011 Por eso, a pesar del perfil negativo sobre Claudio que reflejan las obras clásicas, nadie puede dudar que fuera un excelente administrador, un gran constructor, un considerable expansionista en política extranjera (pues a pesar de su poca formación militar conquistó Britania) y un incansable legislador, que presidía personalmente los tribunales y que promulgó 20 edictos en un día. Pero su situación inestable en el poder le hacía ver conjuras por todos lados, por lo que condenó a muerte a muchos senadores y nobles que lo habían aceptado a mala gana como su Príncipe. Estos, y sus descendientes, fueron los que escribieron las crónicas que han llegado hasta nuestros días.
