Handmade Trizyb with Ukraine map silver earrings Trident is a Ukrainian national symbol, in the past it was the coat of arms of the Rurik princes and Rus. The trident is an ancient Ukrainian symbol. His oldest image, found by archaeologists, dates back to the 10th century. Images of the trident were found on contemporary coins (silver coins and gold coins), seals, dishes, tombstones, bricks, deed seals, signet rings, hryvnia ingots, weapons, equipment, merchandise seals. It is assumed that it was a magical birthmark, a talisman. Up to 40 of its interpretations are known: a trident, a trikyria candlestick, a falcon, an anchor, an ear of rye, a bow and arrow, a triune sacrifice in the name of the victory of life over death... There is also a hypothesis that this is a sign of the trinity of the world. This symbol of ownership and power was passed down from generation to generation, changing so that each representative of the family had an individual emblem (for example, the predecessors of Prince Volodymyr Svyatoslavich of Kyiv had bidents). The pommel in the form of a princely sign was the main element of the Old Russian flags. There are especially many artifacts from the reign of Volodymyr Svyatoslavovych (on the throne of Kyiv from about 980). That is why the Trident is considered the sign of Prince Volodymyr the Great. Silver, casting, hinges with an English lock. The dimensions of trident handmade silver earrings are 15x28 mm, the weight of two earrings is 3 g

A beautiful, refined work of Classical Greek art. A toned and well centred ancient Greek silver tetradrachm, minted by the city of Gela, on the island of Sicily, circa 420 - 415 BC. The obverse (image ii) with charioteer, driving slow four horse chariot right, holding kentron in left hand and reins in both. Nike, the goddess of victory flies above, crowning the horses with a laurel wreath. The reverse (image i) with the forepart of the local river god Gelas. The deity is shown in the finest Classical style, depicted in typical form, as a man-headed bull. The inscription above reading: GELAS "of the People of Gela" Stamped boldly into the centre of this large four drachm piece is a beguiling, expressive image of the eponymous river god, Gelas. We see just his forepart, his legs shown as if paddling, his body is muscular and powerful, yet his human face is sensitively rendered, in the finest, idealised Classical style. It is clear that this object was never intended as a simple medium of exchange but, as a fine work of art, a proud banner for the city. Weight: 17.20 g Diameter: 26.60 mm Provenance: Ex. Dutch private collection, probably acquired in the 1960s or before.
