(Photo: Jo Naylor)This isn't your stereotypical Amish paradise. Pinecraft is a small beach town outside of Sarasota on Florida's Gulf coast. It has about 500 bungalows on 120 acres. During the peak season of January through March, buses take people there from Ohio. About 75% of those travelers are Amish. They're mostly New Order rather than Old Order. According to one survey among New Order Amish, 54% of respondents had been to Pinecraft at least twice. There are Amish and Mennonite churches in Pinecraft ...

Made with Love is the beginning of a very enjoyable series of Amish stories set in Pinecraft, Florida. The series is co-authored by Tricia Goyer and Sherry Gore. Tricia has already written some great Amish fiction; Sherry adds an insider's touch, as she has been a resident of Pinecraft for several years. The characters are delightful folks that it would be fun to meet. The Miller family, with five unmarried daughters, provides a wide-range of personalities and interests. As you read the story, you begin to get to know the entire family, even as the focus is on the oldest daughter, Lovina. The excellent writing makes it very easy to get caught up in Lovina's dream for a pie shop and Noah's hope of proving that second chances can make a big difference in the lives of people and in things. The struggles and challenges they both face as they work on this ambitious project make for an extremely engaging story. And there are so many mouth-watering recipes sprinkled throughout the book that it's almost like getting a bonus cookbook along with the story. For all fans of great Amish fiction, I highly recommend all three volumes in this Pinecraft Pie Shop series. See my reviews for Planted with Hope and Sewn with Joy. About the Book: A Dash of Love, a Pinch of Hope, and a Whole Lot of Good Cooking Lovina Miller should be thrilled. Pinecraft, Florida, has everything a young Amish woman could ask for: sun, sand, volleyball games, and evening singings in the park. But Pinecraft lacks the one thing Lovina desperately wants—a pie shop of her own. She longs for a place to gather with the community and serve the treat she loves. A young carpenter named Noah Yoder strolls into her life and offers a way to make her dream come true. But before Noah and Lovina can build a shop—and a life—together, they must each face heartaches from the past. Is their new love stronger than their regrets? Find inspiration, romance, and authentic Amish recipes for everyone’s favorite food—pie! About the Authors: Tricia Goyer is a busy mom of ten, grandmother of two, and wife to John. A USA Today bestselling author, Tricia has published over 40 books and has written more than 500 articles. She's well-known for her Big Sky and Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors Amish series. For more information visit Tricia at www.TriciaGoyer.com. Tricia, along with a group of friends, also runs www.NotQuiteAmishLiving.com, sharing ideas about simplifying life. www.triciagoyer.com Sherry Gore is the author of Simply Delicious Amish Cooking and Me, Myself and Pie and is a weekly scribe for the national edition of the Amish newspaper The Budget. From Lancaster, Pennsylvania, through Ohio and Indiana and on out to other long-established settlements in Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas, we tend to associate the Amish with the nation's middle latitudes. Since their earliest years in America, the Amish have gravitated to the cooler climes of these corn and dairy regions. However, the Amish have also

Time to say "Good-bye". The Elite from Lancaster is making it's last run up north for this season. They were loading right behind the Tourist Mennonite Church this morning. While the CrossRoads from Indiana was loading in the backside of the parking lot. They left with a loaded bus with many of my Indiana friends that I learned to know over the last couple of years. This little girl came down with her Mom and had an enjoyable time but she was more than ready this morning to get on the bus and head home to her Daddy. Ervin Mullet and Katie Graber said their good-byes. Then this afternoon the Pioneer Trails also left packed to the brim. I just had to capture this little straw hat. And it is time for a stretch... It took all the pushing these men had to get everything into the luggage compartments. People are leaving by the droves but I guess they came down here in droves too. If it wouldn't be for Spring Break in northern Indiana Pinecraft would be almost deserted, but the CrossRoads is going to make another run down here, picking up parents and children after work on Friday and arriving here on Saturday. So next week will be a week of children... and I am glad for people are leaving almost too fast.

Yesterday I was told or rather whispered that there is going to be a Scrabble Game at Adin Yutzy's this afternoon. And so I biked over around 2 PM and was ushered in. I asked for a chair to stand on so I can get some pictures. And I kindly told the ladies to continue to play their game. So it is her turn to spell a word and is deeply thinking... Next is was Fannie's turn and she looks quite serious too... Making a word All three of the ladies. The fourth person was Fannie's brother Ora. I don't have a picture of him because I couldn't see him thinking. Then I biked to the park and in under the pavilion. I know this bench looks like it is going to break under the weight of these two, when the truth is this bench has been bent for ages. Another group of Checker players. A couple just doing nothing but this is a part of Pinecraft life. And a group of men doing nothing except watching the "Corn Hole" game. Two of the players doing the "Corn Hole game." But not everybody is playing or doing nothing for Jonas Kauffman is painting his shed. and Sam is sprinkling the grass.
