AIP Olive Tapenade AIP OLIVE TAPENADE RECIPE INGREDIENTS 2 1/2 C Mixed Pitted Olives such as Black Kalamata and Green, drained 2 Tbl. Capers drained 1 Tbl. Garlic chopped 1 tsp. Oregano dried 2 Tbl. Fresh Parsley Leaves chopped 1 Tbl. Fresh Basil Leaves chopped 1 Tbl. Lemon Juice 1/4 C Extra Virgin Olive Oil INSTRUCTIONS In the bowl of a food processor, add the olives, capers, garlic, oregano, parsley, basil, lemon juice, and olive oil. For a spreadable tapenade, process until a paste is formed, stopping to scrape down the bowl a few times. Garnish with parsley leaves and olive oil. Serve with toasted pita triangles, crackers or crudité. Goes great with paleo cheese.

AIP Pumpkin Cake is perfect for a festive occasion — a layer cake, topped and piped with Dairy-free Buttercream Frosting! Grain-free, nut-free & egg-free. Double this recipe for a large layer cake or to fill a 9" by 13" casserole dish for a sheet cake. Otherwise it will make a small, tall cake or an 8" or 9" layer cake that is low. Photos show the low 9" layer cake, which serves 8 people. (Double the recipe, too, if you want lots of leftovers, to eat the treat all week!)
Here are a few pages from American International Pictures' pressbook for Luigi Cozzi's Starcrash. The most interesting thing about this is that AIP did not release Starcrash! They did buy U.S. distribution rights for the movie, but once they actually saw it, the studio dropped the film and backed out of the deal. Roger Corman's New World Pictures then snatched up the picture instead, and turned a tidy profit releasing it through his usual channels in the spring of 1979. The second-most interesting thing about it is that wonderfully hyperbolic promotional copy! "...horsemen of the apocalypse..." "Filmed in Hollywood..."(!) I particularly like the artwork on the cover. It appears to be one of the pre-production pieces created by Italian artist Niso Ramponi. (Somewhere around here I have more of Ramponi's Starcrash art. I'll have to dig it up soon.) And just for the hell of it, here's one of the amazing Drew Struzan's pencil comps for a Starcrash (The Adventures of Stella Star) poster done for AIP before they dropped the picture. He drew several concept sketches like this, and they were included among the bonus features of Shout! Factory's Starcrash Special Edition. Sigh.... what might have been....
