Yes, it really took me TEN years to complete this book for my husband. I literally have started it & taken it apart so many times I have lost count. Then I just kinda started collecting different pieces of paper and embellishments then re-started it again a couple of years ago. It has sat under my work table in a box staring at me...waiting for me to finally finish. I wanted this book to be large, and chunky and full of area's for him to document this trip. This trip was an adventure with good friends, friends he has grown up with. This trip also took place on our 10 year wedding anniversary... But I was HAPPY for him to go. There are so many fun things in this book, I love how it turned out and I'm glad it took me so long to collect, to work on and finish. It has burlap, paint, cardboard pieces, stamped images, rub-on's, lots of inking... This is a fold out page. This is a very interactive book, pages are not all the same size, the pages on the right are actually three pages you are looking at. I love how colorful it is and how well all of the different papers I collected over time all work together. The leather ties on the tags are so fun!! I stamped and layered different stickers on the left page then added a transparency map over the top. I love this mini clock page. and all of the layers and tags on the right page. This is another one of the smaller pages. I love this frame over the photo. Thank you to everyone who emailed me and requested to see the inside pages. I hope this met your expectations!! Oh, and yes, He LOVES his book! He now has one of his very own!

Welcome back to the Safari Adventure project! I am up on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Blog today with Part 2 of a two-part project! The tutorial for today explains how to create the four mini albums that fit into the Mini Album Display Case. I used Graphic 45 Safari Adventures and Tropical Travelogue (retired) paper collections to decorate. I also used the GSLCuts Safari Shape Set (coming soon). To see Part 1 of this project, please click HERE to learn how to make the display case. The display case has a 3 5/8" x 4 3/8" opening which fits four little mini albums. The kit comes with chipboard covers and spines to create all four books, each approximately 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" x 1". I added minimal decoration to the front of each album to make sure that all four would fit into the opening. Each album has a theme (clockwise from top left): lions and big cats, tigers, elephants and giraffes, zebras. Each album contains three pages, with pockets and tags. The basic design of each book is the same, but I varied the papers and embellishments to match each theme. (To see each mini, click on the video link below.) Now, let's get starting creating your own mini albums! 1. Cut paper to 5 1/2" x 12: and ink the edges with brown ink. Select two cover pieces and one spine piece from the kit. Construct a binding piece from black cardstock (see below). 2. Place the paper face down onto your work surface. center the covers and spine piece onto the paper. Keep a 1/6" gap between the covers and the spine. 3. Trim the corners and the spine section as shown. Fold the center spine section over the spine. Cut a strip of paper 3 3/8" x 1" and cover the spine. 4. Cut black cardstock to 3 3/8" x 2 1/2". Score at 1/4" across the 2 1/2" side. You will have 9 score lines. 5. Fold the cardstock into pleats to create three page tabs. You will end up with three 1/4" tabs with 1/4" gutters. Attach the tabs to the spine as shown. 6. Place strong adhesive around the edges of the paper. 7. Fold the paper toward the center. Cut two pieces of matching paper to 3 1/2" x 4 3/8". Sponge the edges with brown ink. 8. Attach the paper to the inside of the covers. Using a bone folder, gently score on both sides of the spine. Slowly bend the covers toward the center. To avoid the spine tearing, continue to score and fold gently. 9. The book is now assembled and ready for the pages. As you my be able to see, my paper tore just a tad in the lower right corner of the spine. If this happens, you may ink the area to disguise the tear. 10. If the torn area is large or it bothers you, simply cut a spine cover piece (3 1/2" x 4") and sponge the edges with brown ink. Attach the piece to the spine, wrapping around the book. Each little mini album is assembled in the same manner. 11. Decorate the cover, making sure that your decor is low profile in order to fit four albums into the display case. 12. The mini album pages are all 3 3/8" x 4" when assembled. For each mini album you need black cardstock cut to the following: (1) - 3 3/8" x 4" piece with a 1 1/4" half-circle notch cut into the right edge (1) - 3 3/8" x 6" piece, scored at 2" from the left edge to create a side pocket (1) - 5 3/8" x 4" piece, scored at 2" from the bottom edge to create a standard pocket (3) - 3 3/8" x 4" pieces 13. Cover the FRONT of each piece with decorative paper as shown. Decorate as desired. 14. Use strong adhesive to attach the notched page to the first tab. 15. Add adhesive to three sides of the back of one of the 3 3/8" x 4" pieces and attach to the back of the notched page, sandwiching the tab between the pages. The creates the first page of the album, and is also a large, side pocket. 16. Decorate a Graphic 45 black ATC tag and tuck it into the pocket you just created. (This page is from the elephant book.) You need two ATC tags for each mini album, for a total of 8 for the project. 17. Attach the pocket page to the second spine tab. Fill with small tags and ephemera. 18. Attach the second 3 3/8" x 4" page to the back of the pocket, sandwiching the tab between the pages. The creates the second page of the album. You may choose to make this page a side-pocket also, but I did not. 19. Attach the side pocket page to the third spine tab. Add the second ATC tag. 20. Attach the third 3 3/8" x 4" page to the back of the pocket, sandwiching the tab between the pages. The creates the third page of the album. (Please forgive my zebra. I tried to draw stripes onto the chipboard zebra from the Safari Shape Set, but, my skills in that area are not that great!) Each mini in the set is constructed in the same manner. Hello dear visitors!! This post will be very picture-heavy, beware! :) I got a chance to play with the amazing "Safari Adventure" paper collection from Graphic 45. The colors and the images of "Safari Adventure" are without any exaggeration stunning and inviting to create. The project which I am sharing today includes a travel case with a mini album inside. The mini album has a lot of interactive flaps, so despite the fact that there is a decent amount of pictures in this post, I will also be adding a video overview (may be found at the bottom of this post), so that you could visualize everything better. And for now, only the pictures follow. I hope you will enjoy looking :) First, the album and the case side by side: And now separately: The album's spine is connected to the case and once you want to flip through it, you have to slide it off the case's base: Here is the album and its inside pages: Loved this mini door plate from G45! The album has 4 pages, but is very heavy in the light of the amount of the flaps and the paper used: Please stay tuned for the updated post and the video overview of this set. Here is a video overview of the Safari Adventure Mini Album in a Case: Have a creative weekend. Hugs, Alexandra
I thoroughly enjoyed making this project and love how pretty the album and the suitcase turned out. Here are the tutorials on how they all went together. We first start with the mini album. We made 8 paper bags using the Square Lantern & Gift Bag Die. I show you exactly how to put them together to form the pages. We then made a hard wrapped cover and then added the pages to the binding. Everything is listed down below. We then made the suitcase using my new Suitcase Die Set using the same pape

I'm finally back with a new album! How 'bout this new fabulous Safari Adventure collection from Graphic45? I've been waiting for a collection like this for a VERY long time. This has to be one of my top favorites of theirs. The animal images, the patterns, the colors... I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. So, this album is 8x8, 10 pages and I've designed it with the beginner in mind, but it's really perfect for any experience level. There's still quite a bit of interactive elements in here, but I refrained from sewing the pages and also decided not to use a die on the edges of the flaps. I felt the papers were exciting enough to handle a simpler page design. I used 2 of the 8x8 paper pads in the collection, the 6x6 Patterns and Solids paper pad, sticker sheet, decorative chipboard tags, Pockets & Tags, Banners sheet and the Journaling/Ephemera cards. The tutorial for this album is available in my Etsy shop in PDF format and video tutorial. I'll be working with the new Graphic45 Christmas collection next, so check back soon!

Hi everyone Danielle here, sharing a super cute mini album created with a mix-up medley of Felicity Jane kits – yum! Hello and welcome to a new mini album by me, Stefanie Ried! Before I start with the new Bungalow Lane collection, I have created a small mini album with the Wonders collection. This is a gift for my daughter. She has long wanted an album for all her photos with her friends. And so an album to open was created. For this I used the beautiful Paper 22 with the colorful floral tiles and a nice color gradient was created. First I created the book cover with 2 cardboard pieces cut to 3.5x7.5" and 1 cardboard piece cut to 1.25x7.5". Glue a paper of your choice cut to 9.5x8.5" on these to make a book cover. Before gluing the paper for the inside, attach the ribbon to the cover for a closure. When the book cover was ready, I cut up the Paper 22. In total, I added 12 flower images to the album (each side has 6 pieces). In addition, I cut and folded 12 pieces of Bazzill textured white cardstock sized to 3x3.75". Score a line at 0.75". The colored paper was glued on the white paper as shown in the photos. Then the pages were glued into the album. I started at the top edge. The scored line is glued into the album so that the pages can be opened upwards. I hope you can see this well in the photos. The next page is glued directly underneath. When all pages were glued in, I decorated the pages. Now my daughter can fill the album with all her photos on the back pages. She is already busy with it :) Here are a few more pictures of the finished album: I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks for stopping by! Hey Crate Paper fans! Its Bea here and I’m so excited to share my first project using HeyPumpkin collection. Halloween collections are always fun to create with, and Hey Pumpkin is no exception. I love the traditional colors and all the adorably spooky embellishments! We always celebrate Halloween at least two times (at the school and at our house party), so we have a bunch of photos to document every year. I decided to create the base of our Halloween album in advance, and add the photos later. I wanted to create a really fun and witchy album, so I turned my album into a cute, black reticule. To do that, I cut a paper box using my cutting machine and added a glittered foam bag buckle. I used the same striped fabric to decorate the album and the paper bag and attached the bag handle to the spine of the mini album. The size of my album is 4.25x5.25”. I used my favorite album binding technique, the hidden hinges technique. First, I created a chipboard album cover and then I folded hidden hinges to hold the pages. To decorate the cover, I backed a glittered chipboard frame with patterned paper and layered fussy cut houses on the front. The beautiful puffy stickers with holographic foil accents are one of my favorites in the collection, and I can’t resist adding the lovely cat sticker to the cover. The sparkling rat stickers and chipboard numbers added a special festive touch to the album. I added a lot of interactive pages, hidden journal tags, and tiny pockets to the album. I decorated the pages mostly with stickers and ephemera pieces. The large orange sequences from the ephemera pack were perfect to fill up the shaker pocket! As a finishing touch, I added fall leaves and beads to the album ‘handle’. I used my WRMK foil quill to add silver lines to the leaves, and then cut them out using my Silhouette. The playful form of the album is absolute makes me happy, and I can’t wait to fill the page with our memories. Thanks for joining me today, I hope you’re all inspired to create with this super fun collection! Supplies: Hey Pumpkin Collection: 12x12 Paper Pad (350294), 6x9 Paper Pad (350893), Ephemera Pack (350887), Cardstock Stickers (350886), Chipboard Stickers (350885), Puffy stickers (350888), Glossy Puffy Stickers (350884)
Take it on the road with a nostalgic Authentique Pastime Passport Style Mini Album made with fabulous Authentique Papers & Eileen Hull's Passport Book Die.
I started this mini album about our adventure to the Cinque Terre in Italy last May when I was on my first mini album making kick, but then I got overwhelmed by the sheer size of it and put it on the backburner!! Then a few weeks ago I picked it up again and decided, hey, it doesn't need to be AMAZING! I already had the hardest part done which was printing the photos, picking the papers, and arranging everything into the right order. All it really needed was embellishments and journaling - NOTHING FANCY! Not everything has to be FANCY! Sometimes it's just about getting the memories documented and if it turns out pretty, that's a bonus :) This is actually the second version of the cover, the first had lots of layering of random things but it just didn't feel right. Another reason I struggled... it just wasn't clicking from the get-go! I decided to switch it up and do something I love on the cover which is hand stitching! Much better and much more "me"!:) The entire mini album is made from Maggie Holmes' collections. I have hoarded every single one of her lines since the first one came out back in January 2013 - I even found the blog post revealing it on Crate Paper! It's all just so pretty :) And the beautiful colors, florals, and vintage patterns match perfectly with the vibes of the Cinque Terre! I have a short flip through if you want to see this album "live". I didn't talk through the video, just played some music in the background. More about the album - I mixed in a few transparencies here and there, below is a plain one from American Crafts, and I used a special white pen to write the journaling. There are five cities in the Cinque Terre (translated to English it means "five lands") and for each of the five cities I made an intro page with its number on the tourist route. Riomaggiore was city #1 and where we rented our airbnb. I took sooooooo many photos throughout the day whilst exploring. I mean. THE COLORS!! So this album has 38 spreads so I could include all my favorite photos. My most favorite pictures I printed to 4x6 and a select few are even the full 5x7". The rest are 2x2 and inserted into pocket page protectors. You'll see :) When I got these photos printed we still lived in Germany and I wanted to get full 5x7s for some for impact, but Europe has a different sizing system than we do so I accidentally ended up with about 20 11x14" pictures hahaha! So eventually I want to frame and hang them. Anyway back to the mini album, I printed an introduction on vellum and stitched three pennants below - super simple. I copied and pasted the text straight from my blog. Pocket pages to the rescue! I LOVE this format and size and then adding embellishments like sequins to some of the pockets without photos. I fussy cut a few butterflies from a patterned paper and scattered them directly on this photo for whimsy. This was the last spread I made before I gave up last year. I wasn't loving anything, it didn't feel like "me", so I put it in a basket and moved on to other things. When I picked up this mini album a few weeks ago after letting it sit for 7 months, I realized it didn't look as bad as I remembered. It might not be as intricate as my layouts, but THAT'S OKAY!!! More than any individual spread, it's about the mini album as a whole and by keeping it pretty simple, the overall thing makes me happy. Sometimes I didn't know where to add journaling so I made interactive tags. Pesto was invented just a couple cities over! We had to get some fresh. So yummy. City #2 - Manarola! A 4x6 photo with typed/printed/trimmed journaling and a couple pocket pages filled to the brim with photos and goodies. This right photo is probably my favorite picture from the entire day. How is this place real?! I really wanted to keep adding #allthethings but even more so I just wanted to finish and to do that I had to keep it simple. Four stickers on this spread (three banners and a sentiment) and DONE. All I added to the left page was a strip of gold glitter washi and the right page is a 2.5" pocket page with embellishments and journaling. I got my layering game on a few times. For inspiration I looked through Maggie's minis and saw how she used her own product in pretty ways. For city #3's opening page I placed the number and title on a gold glittered hearts transparency and added machine stitching to keep everything in place. More interactive elements: I stapled perforated tickets that you lift to see the journaling underneath. The right page is a scaplift from Maggie. A full-page photo of sweet Jane on the left and a coordinating blue plaid paper on the right with a few stickers of things I know she would love = swans and birds. Flowers galore! Also lots of banners and pennants throughout the album - it's good to have cohesive elements and they add pops of color to match all the colors of the photos. This pocket is a perfect place for a tag with journaling. Seriously, these collections couldn't match any more perfectly with the Cinque Terre! Here is the opening for city #4 - Vernazza. No photo spread! A flower on the left and stamped journaling lines and hearts with handwritten journaling on the right. Done and done! I busted out my Cuttlebug for the first time in ages and used embossing folders that I've held onto for years but don't think I've actually used until now! I love the texture!! I cut a piece of embossed paper into 2" squares and added them between photos in the pocket page. In the white space at the top of the full-page photo on the right I added a floral sticker with the most perfect colors to match the buildings and a sentiment sticker cut in two. Birds, flowers, leaves, banners... the works! Here comes four 4x6" photos which I glued back-to-back and stapled folded over tabs at the top to help make turning them easier. A single sentiment adhered in the middle is all this spread needed! My cute little boy! I found all the black and white things I could to fit inside these frames. This page is a little fancier than most - it's the intro for city #5 - Monterosso al Mare and on the left side I adhered sequins to the pattern and stitched through gold foil Thickers on the right. Since the stitched lines showed through on the other side I added typed/printed/trimmed journaling between. For the past few years I ALWAYS use a font called Remington Noiseless recommended by Ali Edwards. I love how it looks like a typewriter. In the right pocket page I added journaling to tags and tucked them behind a couple of the photos. We took a few videos throughout the day so I compiled them all into one video, uploaded it to Chris' YouTube, and created a QR code link which with an app takes you directly to the video. Gotta love technology! Thank goodness for so many flowers in all of Maggie's collections! They're so beautiful and I added them everywhere! The final spread is of me and my love with some final thoughts and a stacked suitcases sticker - perfect for a mini album about traveling! Whew! Finished! I hope you picked up a few ideas and can echo my thoughts of "it's okay to not go over the top with #allthethings and #allthetechniques"! Sometimes less is more and the fact that I got this done instead of just letting it sit is a major accomplishment in my book! Thanks for stopping by!

I have a new fabric tags mini album to share with you featuring my Horizon collection and documenting our adventure in St. Petersburg, Russia! First, check out the process video to see how this mini album came together from start-to-finish: I used the 6 feet / 10 pieces Banner by Craft Smith from Michaels as the base. I've never made a mini album from fabric before so this was really fun! Trying new things sparks creativity and pushes me out of my comfort zone, which is always a good thing. I started by painting each of the 10 tags a different color - I mostly used acrylic paints by Vicki Boutin as well as a couple colors from my stash. I let the tags dry thoroughly before continuing on. While they were drying I used my Silhouette Cameo 3 and cut files (Stencils Set 1 and Stencils Set 2) to create 6" stencils. I always use white textured cardstock from American Crafts and for these intricate designs I used a brand new ratchet blade set at a depth of 5 and a speed of 2. They cut cleanly and beautifully with these settings! Then I placed all the tags out on my table and one by one I used the stencils to scrape modeling paste mixed with the same acrylic paints through. I LOVE the texture this adds. On the cover I embellished with Horizon Epoxy Stickers, a heart and flower Chipboard Sticker, sentiment Sticker, and Floral Die Cut. There's also some white tangled thread in the mix. For the title I used the colorful Foam Mini Thickers from Whimsical. To help keep things in place permanently I machine stitched through some pieces. Each page has small square photos matted on distressed papers from the 2x2 Paper Pads and then embellished with bits & pieces from Horizon. I copied, pasted, printed, trimmed, and glued journaling taken from the blog post recap. I always like to use the font Remington Noiseless to keep consistency throughout all my mini albums. Again, to help things stay in place and to add texture, I added machine stitching. I tried to break free from my tone-on-tone default way of embellishing, but clearly I'm still working on it :) :) Sometimes I had more photos than could fit on the page and still see the texture on the first layer, so I would staple a few pictures together and then adhere the back one in place for an interactive element. I replaced the small photo on this last page with a larger one to make a big closing statement. Seeing this church was the highlight of St. Petersburg so I wanted it to make an impact. I loooooved making this mini album. So fun to push myself creatively and try new things - it always branches out to more new ideas! Thanks for stopping by and I can't wait to show you my next mini album!
When Lance saw this album he called it my "super album'. Yup - it's a big one! I tried to edit it down (and did take out a few photos), but decided I really liked everything that was in it. It's still manageable to flip through and will be easy...
Mil besitos, Cris.

Hey guys! It's Throwback Thursday and today I'm sharing two outdoor / camping scrapbooks that I've made in the past. They are perfect for photos of outdoor adventures, camping, a lakeside cabin, a vacation, hiking, fishing, water activities, campfires, smore's, and so much more! This first one is titled Happy Camper. I only made 2 of them and never blogged about it. Whoops, I guess that was a busy month! So, check it out some fun nature inspired inspiration. Let's talk about how cute the wood veneer cover of this album is! It's so perfect for an outdoorsy scrapbook. I paired it with paper and embellishments from Chatterbox. It's a great time of year to explore the outdoors with family and friends. Camping, tents, fires, picnics, and smores sound like so much fun. This album would also be great for a fishing trip, kid's summer camp photos, boating on the lake, or hiking / rock climbing. I hope you get some fun ideas from this album and create some beautiful pages for your outdoor photos. Next, my Outdoor Adventure Album ... Hi Everyone! Its Friday again and Frosted Designs has another great Fabulous Friday challenge. This time its "BBQ/Picnic/Outdoor Games". I had some favorite photos of some of our outdoor adventures so I decided to use them to make a mini album. You may remember about a month ago when I said I had a great blue jean project to share with you. Well, this is the time! :) I have to say I'm really proud of this project and will be making others like it. I have been saving jean pockets from my boy's outgrown jeans for quite some time. I just love them and knew that some day I'd have just the perfect project for them. Well, that day is now! I started by glueing two pockets (from the same pair) together with fabric glue. I used different sizes of pockets for this project. Next I punched a hole in them with my Crop-a-dile for my rings to hold it together. I looked through my chipboard stickers and found a few random sheets that I decided to use for this project. I glued them on with fabric glue so they wouldn't be falling off as its handled. Each pocket holds a photo of an outdoor activity. I have journaled on the back of each one about where it was, what we were doing, or why I love it. If my boys were younger and looking at it, I would figure out a way that they could stay attached to the pocket and not get lost. My boys are old enough to know to put it back after looking so all the pictures just slip in and out. Here are all of the pictures I used for this album. And some details... I really liked that some of the pockets had embroidered parts from the jean company or a tag on them. I wanted to make sure that part still showed. I also used a loop from a pair of carpenter jeans for an added detail. I hope you'll play along with us at Frosted Designs this week. I can't wait to see what you make. Now...off to find some jeans that are wearing out! I have some pockets to cut off. :)
