With the new 2017-2018 Annual catalogue coming soon, I thought I would give you a preview of the some of the NEW products and colors that will be coming June 1st! There is so much goodness in the new catalogue, I wish I could show you the whole thing. If you become a demonstrator, one of the perks is getting to see and play with the new products before they come out! ;) If you want to read more about becoming a Canadian Stampin' Up demostrator, click here. The first thing I wanted to show you are the new 2017-2019 In Colors. In fact, my updated blog signature at the end of this post features some of these colors! ;) Stampin' Up 2017-2019 In Color Collection I am in LOVE with the new Berry Burst color- that one is my favorite, but I think the other In Colors: Powder Pink, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide will be really fun colors to play with! Love how bright and cheerful these colors are! Looking at both In Color Collections together I think it's really going to be fun to use a mix of all the colors together. In fact, you can download this amazing color chart that gives you some great color combinations to try with the new In Colors! To download the PDF version of the In Color Color Combo Chart <<<
The wifi in my home was acting up today and it delayed my post. Today's card features a soft palette with the Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set. I received the stamp set at OnStage and have been wanting to use it but had to wait on the coordinating framelits. I already made two cards with the Oh So Eclectic Bundle, and I have a third one in my mind to create! I absolutely love when an idea you have in your head actually comes out like you planned. The You Make Me Smile Card says it all. The soft colors of
Hello Stampers! Here is one of the very first cards I have made using the "Beautiful You" stamp set available soon in the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog that goes live on January 4th. Sale-a-Bration, Stampin' Up!'s biggest sale of the year, starts at the same time!! Very few supplies were needed for this card. I did this one using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the figures very close to each other. I did another card without using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. It turned out good too but the figures were a little further apart. This is a regular size A2 card (finished size 5.5" x 4.25") I stamped all the ladies first with Tuxedo Black memento ink then stamped all but one dress with Smokey Slate ink. Finally I stamped the sentiment and the last dress in Real Red classic ink. The 'Hello You' thinlits were used to cut the "you" out of Real Red card stock.Very subtle and hard to see on the photo are the three tiniest pearls I added for a necklace on the lady in red. Hope you love the simplicity as much as I do. Click on the icon below to get everything you need for this project...except the Beautiful You stamp set which will not be available until January 4th. WAIT!! YOU could already HAVE this stamp set if you were a demonstrator! Why not JOIN MY TEAM?? Send me an email if interested at [email protected] Happy Stampin'! Happy Saturday & welcome to day 4 of my Eastern Palace review. Today is all about the endless combinations & possibilities you have with the Eastern Beauty stamps & Eastern Medallions dies. They're cool on their own, but the magic really happens when you combine dies and/or stamp images with each other & with other dies, like the Layering Circles dies, and punches too. I played with all the die pieces & stamps and was blown away by all the possibilities for creating with this brilliant collection. I then compiled idea sheets to show my class some of the many and am sharing them with you today. Be sure to pin these so you'll have them on hand when you want ideas. First up, here's a reminder of what's included in the Eastern Medallions die set & Eastern Beauty stamp set. Remember you receive a 10% discount when you buy them together as a the Eastern Beauty bundle (see links at the bottom of this post). Let's walk through these beauties starting with... Circle medallions There are 5 circle medallion dies - 1 large, 2 medium & 2 small. All medallions cut negative shapes into the card, rather than a positive cut out. These 2 cards show the large medallion used this way. Use them singly or together as shown below. The largest medallion shape can be snipped out of the circle to use as a positive shape, or can be cut out with a smaller or larger dies for a different look, as shown below. This card shows it cut out with a scallop circle die (similar to the far right sample in row 2 below). Large flower medallion The large flower medallion can be used alone or combined with the medium & small circle medallions. The shape partially cuts out the petals leaving the shape attached to the card. The shape can be easily snipped out with sharp pointed scissors (our Snips are perfect) to use separately, as I have on these cards & this card. This die also makes a beautiful flower petal. See this sunflower card. 6 pointed medallion flower dies & my favourite stamp The 6 pointed medallion outline die (centre top of die set image) has a coordinating inset die that partially cuts another shape. Use separately or together. This card shows the 2 dies combined with Eastern Gold stickers. Fold the inset petals back & adhere for a lovely flower outline. (row 2 below). Combine the dies with the coordinating stamp. (row 3) Add some other smaller stamp images to decorate (rows 4 & 5). Multiple stamping - the 6 pointed stamp is my favourite stamp in the set. It can be used in so many ways with the dies & can be rotated & stamped again to create a look like that of Spirograph (if you're as old as me). It also creates fabulous tessellated patterns. I'll show you some cards I've done with these techniques in my next post. For now, check out the right column of the pic below to see how brilliant the 2 & 4 images stamped together look. Square bracket die & stamps The square bracket outline die cuts a useful negative window or positive shape. The coordinating die can be used on it's own or with the outline. You can easily snip out the inset centre too. There's also a coordinating outline stamp & accent stamps to add more detail to the cuts or use on their own. Circles & sentiment stamps Oh my goodness are there any shapes more useful for any project than a circle? There are 3 circle stamps of different sizes in the Eastern Beauty set that will work for so many projects. Of course they work with many of the sentiments in the the set & many, many others. The circles can be cut put both outside & inside the line with various Layering Circles dies & circle punches, as shown in the image above. More co-ordinating dies & stamps 4 smaller stamps also have coordinated dies. I used the 4 pointed star as a flower centre on this card. SU have definitely thought of everything with this one. Phew! That's a LOT of possibilities don't you think? I'm sure there are lots more I haven't figured out yet too. Remember to pin my card & die idea sheets for later inspiration. Here's a combined shot of all the die & stamp combinations for good measure. See the Eastern Palace Suite There are lots more coordinating products in the full Eastern Palace suite. See them all on pages 18-19 of our 2017-18 Annual Catalogue pdf Each item in the suite is available to order in my store by following the links below. See the whole Eastern Palace suite here in my store, or check out individual items by following the links below. Remember to purchase the stamp & die together as a bundle to receive a 10% discount. Eastern Beauty Photopolymer Bundle $83.50 Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper $21.00 Eastern Palace A4 Cardstock Pack $14.00 Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers $12.25 Mini Tassels Assortment $13.00 Eastern Beauty Photopolymer Stamp Set $37.00 Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies $56.00 Are you seeing why I'm loving this suite so much? I think you'll see different elemebts sneaking into all sorts of projects, as well as using them together. I have two more cards to share tomorrow, using my favorite stamp from the Eastern Beauty stamp set, so don't miss that. Thanks for visiting & hope to see you here again soon. Inky wishes, Di
Hello!....Well l'm back from a whirlwind few days in Brisbane for Stampin Up's On-Stage live event and to say l'm just a little excited, overwhelmed and sooo tired is an understatement..:0) It was a fabulous and fun way to spend a few days with some lovely friends. But reality has kicked in and the struggle is real...time to get creating! Our challenge over at Just Add Ink this week is all about these pretty colours! During "Onstage" l received the brand new "Swan Lake" stamp set in prize patrol. And although this is definitely not a set l would normally choose, l thought l would step outside my comfort zone and see if l could come up with something l liked...:0) I stamped, water coloured and sponged all images on some SU Shimmer c/stock and used the fab "New" stitched framelits to create the oval. The sentiment is from another "New" stamp set that we were lucky enough to receive in our check in bags, called "Suite Sentiments"...Loving the versatile sentiments in this set. Both of these sets will be available in the Occasions catalogue on the 4th of January 2017 and will coincide with the release of the fab new Sab products as well. Not that it photographed all that well, but there is a whole lot of Wink of Stella sparkle happening too! I also have another card l made using these colours, to which l have added a "Neutral" Crumbcake, which we do allow in our colour challenges by the way..:0) Don't forget to swing by the challenge blog for some more fab inspiration from the design team. Thanks for stopping by! All supplies used are Stampin Up!

It’s Mix It Up Monday and time for another colour combination from my In Color charts. Today I’ve stuck entirely within the 2015-17 In Color range, with Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe, all held together with some Very Vanilla. This stamp set, Summer Silhouettes, is a timeless classic, which I hardly dare hope will survive the new catalogue overhaul that’s coming our way in a few months. I began by stamping Hardwood in Tip Top Taupe onto Very Vanilla - I deliberately kept this “rough and ready”, allowing the stamp to miss the cardstock in places. The flowers and leaves are then stamped on top, and it’s all finished off with some strands of Burlap Ribbon and a tiny greeting. Hope you like it! I had a lovely crafty session with a couple of stamping friends recently and had the opportunity to play with the Jar of Love bundle. These sessions can turn out to be expensive! I hadn’t paid any attention to this set at all but inevitably I loved it. What I particularly liked was that SU have thought of everything. I cut out the jar, but was wishing I could make it transparent... then discovered that there’s a die to cut out the middle of the jar, too, so I could! I used this colour combination, based on the ink pads that just happened to be on the table, and when I returned home, I realised it just happened to be a Mix It Up Monday combo, using a colour combination from my latest set of In Color charts! Well, it is if you discount the Soft Sky, which I am going to do as it’s very subtle behind the vellum. Custom Tee is a great stamp set that's on SALE right now for $19.50 instead of $26, and I wanted to share some designs I made using it, before it retires for good on May 22nd. It's too bad we can't just keep them ALL, you know? But there's still time for you to add this versatile set to your permanent collection. It also has coordinating Framelits for the Big Shot (on SALE for $15 instead of $25), but if you don't mind a little hand-cutting, they're not necessary. 2017 Topic 8: Assemblage Gerard Collas Welcome everyone, Darcy here with another topic introduction. this one is so quirky and open to limitless interpretation that you are guaranteed to have fun. This topic really does follow on from our last one. Assemblages are a cross between collage and sculpture, they incorporate found objects and purposefully bought elements. Before we start, let's see who won the Topic 7: Found Objects Challenge... The winner of Found Objects is: Chris from Loops and Lines Email Darcy to claim your prize. [email protected] I think 3d collage is the very best description for this genre of artistic expression. As with our found objects topic we owe a lot to the artists of the 20th century for giving this style a name and a definition. Artists such as Pabloc Picasso, Jean Dubuffet and Marcel Duchamp are all early exponents of this eclectic style. Here is Duchamps 'Bicycle' from 1951. Marcel Duchamp Assemblage requires a 'process' and that is the act of putting 'things' together to create a new object. From the start the style has had a slightly grungy edge to it, this is down to the components often being discarded or found objects. But there is a skill to this art style, one cannot just throw objects together, they much flow and have some harmony. this means when using found objects they should be carefully selected, just being 'found' is not enough. think about colour, shape, scale, theme.. Modern artists are still very much enamoured with this style. What do you think of this one, is it art to you? it is very much an assemblage, but the elements are very different to ones that crafters may choose. Here you can see a mattress, a cardboard coffin, a clothing rail etc. I am not sure that many craft companies will be bringing out a range of mattresses to cut up just yet, so let's look at something smaller. More vintage, but this time with a quirky twist and modern elements. Stephanie Rubiano Wings seem to feature a lot in assemblage art, they are a great way to add dimension and look great on things that would never usually have wings. Lindsay Mason Wings leads us nicely to birds, these are another heavily used element in assemblage art. They can range from real, stuffed, whimsy or outright quirky. Kim Collister How about these for quirky dudes, I adore how these have been made in tins for bodies and I may have squealed a little bit at the tiny spanner arms! Just too cute and jam packed full of details and personality. Could you use a little friend like this for your studio? Jen Hardwick This video has some great ideas for small box assemblages. This next piece is by Shirley Vauvelle, follow the link to see other fabulous pieces by her using ceramics and driftwood, aren't they a great combination? Shirley Vauvelle Perhaps you don't have space for a large 3D object, you can of course make any size that you want. However about keeping it fairly flat. you can see that this book cover does not take up as much room, but it is still very much 3d, and has had thought put into the assemblage of the elements. Georgie C Another almost flat but not really piece is this wonderful collection, carefully curated and framed it would be a wonderful piece of wall art. Bridget Hoff This next piece is so inspiring, a double spoon. Vintage, discarded objects, beautifully coloured and brought together. Trash to treasure. Branka How about some jewellery, you would never be late with a necklace like this. Recycloanalist ooh quirky dangly bits! One of these would look wonderful on an evening bag. Elizabeth Rosen This is something so simple but so effective, it is a take on papier mache. To achieve this look dip threads, yarns or strips of text into a glue and water mix and lay them over your desired shape. You can free form them or use a mould, but make sure to wrap your mould with plastic wrap first. once dried you can create your assembled suclpture. Janilaine Mainprize Some interesting thoughts on Assemblage from Gary Reef. How cute is this lil guy, bags or rather tins of personality. I just love the shoe brush hair, lol BranMixArt One last one, just because I love the use of wooden spoons. I may have to raid the kitchen draws! Can you imagine a tree like this filled with Zinski characters! Edwina Bridgeman So how will you join in, have we inspired you? I hope so, this is such a fun theme. you can raid your garages, sheds and drawers, mix and match old and new. use up embellishments, broken jewellery, cardboard, wood, grungeboard. How about adding paper beads or stamped images. Don't forget Seth Apter's wood chips, they would be perfect for adding to your sculpture. Don't forget to follow Darcy and Leandra's Pinterest boards if this topic pushes your buttons, you will see plenty more examples to whet your appetite there! Good morning all! This week I thought I would give the Global Design Project a go. Each week they give different types of inspiration for a challenge, this week it is CASE the designer Connie Collins #GDP064 I decided to follow Brian's example and show case one of the stamp sets I won at On Stage Local. I was lucky enough to win Beautiful You. I took the yellow, green, blue colour pallet from Connie's card. I stamped the main image using Early Espresso then coloured her in using Stampin' Write Markers. I just knew her dress had to be green, bizarrely as green is not one of my go to colours. Once I had settled on Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist and So Saffron chose themselves! So Saffron Wild Wasabi Marina Mist The reflection is also part of the stamp set and the sentiment 'Life may not be the party we had hoped for but while we're here we might as well dance' is perfect. I love both the carefree images and the lovely sentiments, this set is in the Stampin' Up! 2017 Spring/Summer catalogue and will be available for you to order from 4th January 2017. Linda xx

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Thank you for joining us for the You’ve Got The Edge Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too. This week the challenge is: Food and/or Drink. This challenge is pretty self explanatory! We would like you to include some food and/or drink on your creation! We will be looking forward to seeing what tasty goodness you serve up for us this week! It is Beulah’s last week with us in the Designer Spotlight and we would like to say a huge thank you for all of your fabulous creations over the past month. it has been a real pleasure to have you along with us again! I chose Tim Holtz's "Tea time" die for my work and I created a rainbow with Distress oxides. To create the background for my cups I used a sheet of Ranger Cardstock Kraft and Tim Holtz's stamp GRAPH. I used it with white embossing powder and a few small touches of oxides ( on kraft they are fantastic, sooner or later will come a project made in this way!) I looked (I admit, very pleased!) My new Oxides and the first idea that came to me was just that of a rainbow! The cups stacked to create a small tower are perfect and who better than the Paper Dolls to give life the project ??? As always I used Ranger Heavystock to prepare my bases and I made several combinations but all with the same hue! I cut the frame with thick cardboard and then covered it with Ranger Crackle texture paste, once dry I created a rainbow of colors with the same Oxides that I used for my cups! I highlighted all the edges with Walnut stain Distress Crayon. The color combinations from below are these: Salty Ocean and Peacock Feather, Lucky Clover/ Peacock Feather and Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio, Wild Honey and Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmaled/ Wild Honey and Abandoned Coral, Picked raspberry and Wilted violet. Also this week I used my creativity to realize a project a little bir different from my usual!! We are in the summer and my desire for color has exceeded everything! Ora tocca a voi!
