This NO PREP, language-filled, and leveled activity is perfect for working on inferencing during the Thanksgiving season. Whether you're working on teletherapy or in person, in 1:1 sessions or in groups, your students / clients will LOVE this activity. Included are 3 options of game play so that students can work their way to independent inferencing. Levels are: color choices black and white choices no choices This activity can be facilitated by a therapist or adult, or it can be student-led and operated. This deck was designed for speech-language therapy, but can be easily used by teachers, too! Your students would love this as a whole-class group or team thinking / collaboration activity! TIP: You can ALSO use this Boom Learning℠ deck as a reinforcer activity across your caseload!! NO extra plan-time for you = no stress and more free time to enjoy the Thanksgiving / autumn season doing your favorite things :) BONUS TIP: The first two levels of this activity are also great for identifying by attribute. How does this activity flow? After choosing the level of play that best fits your students’ needs, you will enter a scene introducing you to a turkey who is ready to serve dinner! Students will not be able to see what the turkey has under the dome plate! Under the card heading "Guess the Thanksgiving food, your students will find FIVE clues that will help them “make a picture in their brains” to infer which Thanksgiving food the Turkey has ready to serve. Each clue is covered by an orange strip that is removed by swiping it to the left of the screen; students may use 1 clue or use them all to help them make the BEST guess! (PLEASE NOTE: BECAUSE THE ACTIVITY TARGETS ARE ABOUT THANKSGIVING DINNER, THERE IS A CLUE OR TWO ABOUT OBJECT CATEGORIES (E.G., IT'S A SIDE DISH, MAIN DISH, DESSERT, VEGETABLE, ETC. ON EVERY CARD). Multiple choice format: Students will indicate their smart guess by moving silverware their answer; then, they will swipe the dome plate to the right and reveal the Thanksgiving food underneath. Fill in the blank format: Students will type their answers into the blank before moving the dome plate. After the Thanksgiving food is revealed, students can move to the next card. Note: Answers are not set as correct or incorrect through the Boom platform. If students put their silverware on the incorrect answer, they will not find out until they move the dome plate or are cued to try again by a facilitator. This is to keep the element of surprise, and therefore motivation, excitement, and engagement throughout the activity! It would be a lot less fun if the answer was shown before the dome plate was moved :) Therefore, I don’t even use the submit button when using these cards. How many cards do I get? 11 Thanksgiving foods are on the serving plate - 1 correct food per card! This means that there are 33 total cards for gameplay. The same 11 foods and descriptions are used for each level, but the cards are arranged in different orders. This is so that children who are working on increasing their independence and accuracy with inferencing do not complete the same exact activity in the same order every time they play, and therefore won't be able to memorize answers as easily. Featured foods: All foods used as multiple choice options will be the target of a card during game play. The same 11 foods are used as options and as answers. Foods include: Turkey Green Beans Mashed Potatoes Sweet Potatoes Carrots Stuffing Pumpkin Pie Cranberry Sauce Corn Gravy Roll Where can I use this activity? Use it in person or in teletherapy!
