In 1937, the Hormel Foods Corporation introduces canned cooked pork - SPAM (pictured original packaging). SPAM gained worldwide popularity after its use in WWII. By 2003, SPAM was some in 41 countries on six continents and trademarked in over 100 countries not including the Middle East or North Africa. With an expansion communications technology, SPAM became the subject of urban legends about mystery meat and other appearances in pop culture.
