Mirror Lake Trailhead -- Stuart Fork Distance --- 15-plus miles -- [and from Sapphire Lake on -- off-trail] Elevation --- 6,612 feet Size ------ 14 acres Depth ---- 25 feet Easy to see how Mirror Lake got its name. There's a trail as far as Sapphire Lake but from there on it's a cross-country, rock-hopping, brushy scramble to Mirror Lake. Well worth the effort, though, the sunsets and sunrises here are special -- truly golden. And nearby rocky perches offer nice birdseye views of Sapphire Lake as well as a relaxing balcony ... good place to watch the alpen-glow. * Photo taken 8-26-04 -- Camera: Canon Elph S330. * *
