Taken at the 2013 Re-enactment of the Battle of Prestonpans 1745 at Greenhills, Prestonpans.
Once in awhile, I like to take photos of an "event" for fun and memories. I had a great chance in early June with a French-and-Indian War battle re-enactment at Fort #4 in Charlestown, NH. As a history major and lover, I couldn't let such a grand opportunity pass me by (not to mention the great educational value for my kids,) so off I went with camera in hand. Luckily, we had great seats and passing clouds. Here are some of my favorites... 1.) The battle is about to begin. The rag-tag Americans roll out their canon to meet the formidable French and Indian force on an open field. 2.) Face-off with the approaching French and their Indian comrades. 3.) An American sympathetic to the French and Indian cause. 4.) The French are ready to meet fire with fire. 5.) Waiting for the British Regulars to make their appearance. 6.) 7.) The Regulars are here! 8.) The British Regulars are joined by a Scot Brigade. 9.) Formidable. 10.) A man of French and Indian descent. 11.) Well disciplined and skilled. 12.) Another volley. 13.) Some Indians inspect the corpse for goods -- or maybe a scalp. 14.) Don't mess with the Scots! 15.) After a big push by the British, Scots, and Americans, the French were forced to surrender in the field. 16.) HUZZAH to these great reenactors who were willing to come and show us living history.
