The pattern contains two sizes of the Dreambird, one for women and another one for little girls. INCLUDED are TRADITIONAL row by row descriptions for both sizes and DIAGRAMS for those who prefer a visual approach. The OPTIONAL written instructions are meant for those of you who want explanations or are interested in how I approached the project. The step photos for the Minibird although different in numbers are also a support while you are in the knitting process. The different approaches work independently from each other; so if the wording bothers you just leave it aside. It is essential though to read the general part about short rows if you are not familiar with them. The coloring has been completely achieved by short rows. It is also possible to use all three approaches as a support. The English version has been tech edited by MHM. So if you are interested in the pattern don’t let yourself get confused by the first part of the former KAL or older notes on projects’ pages. They basically refer to times where there was neither a row by row description nor a diagram but only a written pattern. All issues should have been resolved. The French translation was made by Christine73. The Dutch translation was made by Ima. The Swedish translation was made by Brittica The Danish translation was made by RieKrogh Errata for Danish translation, page 16, row by row: 71 luk de første 10m af, strik til enden, slå 25 nye m op (130) Spring over 01, og fortsæt med 02 Slut sidste fjer efter pind 28, og hækl en kant i fjergarn tilbage langs halskanten. The Italian translation was made by Lucietta85 The Finnish translation was made by HeidiKoo “Suomalaisessa ohjeessa, kohdassa Malli kerros kerrokselta, on virheitä muutamalla rivillä: Riveillä 5,7,9,11 ja 13 pitäisi lukea “K 45” (ei K 35) sekä rivillä 31 pitäisi lukea “Neulo loppuun (4 s)” (ei Neulo loppuun (3 s))” The rich coloring of birds is something wonderful and I felt I wanted to express this in knitting. I had the Kingfisher before my eyes when I did this but there are no limits of what you can do, hence the name Dreambird! Dreambird looks more complicated than it is. When you strictly follow the instructions for the first feather the following ones will be a walk in the park! The shaping is done by short rows and I explained everything in detail so that you don’t need to be an advanced knitter to knit this piece. As in the wingspan, the drive of the shawl is attained by offset triangles. Additional elements transform the triangles to feathers. Maylin, the creator of the Wingspan, authorized this version before I even started knitting. You can knit the feathers with a yarn of rather long color changes or use up your stash, it is up to you! The fluffy Kid Mohair in the background emphasizes the feathers.
Please note: the download is in English language only! The German pattern is available in print in my new book “Die verkürzte Reihe - Das Original”. As there will not be a translation of the book for a foreseeable time, we have, therefore, made available the English version as a Ravelry download for English speaking knitters. This summer pullover/tunic is worked with short rows in color gradient/self striping yarn. It is knitted in garter stitch and loose fitting, so it will fit from (German) size 40 - 44. The pattern uses 500g of Luxury Silk DK in color no. 41, and 100g each of Grace Hand Beaded in colors no.04/358 and 21/448.
It is started on the bottom tip and knitted bottom up. The patterning uses elements of Swing-Knitting™. It is completely symmetrical. The wrap can be knitted in two variations: • as a right-angled triangle with a straight upper edge • as a right-angled triangle with a curved upper edge that shaped a neckline. The pattern is written in two versions: • as row by row instructions • as instructions for Swing-Knitters™ All elements of general knitting technique that might not be known by everyone, are explained in detail with step photos in the technical appendix. The pattern is divided into 4 parts: A. General explanations and instructions B. Row by row instructions for the wrap C. Instructions for Swing-Knitters™ D. Technical Appendix The wrap is knitted with 2 different yarns. The fabric is stretched a lot because of the diamonds, therefore the wrap has to be blocked. Please take care to choose yarns that can be easily blocked! The yarn for pauses should be slightly larger than the yarn for stanzas. The pauses surround the short row elements and keep them to shape. My Diamonds and Waves uses these yarns: Yarn for stanzas: 2 x 100 g Schoppel Laceball (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 800m/ 100g), color 1536 “Fuchsienbeet”, held together with 4 x 25 g Lanartus Galaxy (100% polyester, 340m/25g), color 102. I used up: 185 g Laceball held together with 100 g Galaxy Yarn for pauses: 2 x 100 g plant hand dyed 4ply sock yarn (basic yarn Schoppel Boots, 44% wool, 42% cotton, 14% polyamide, 400m/100g), dyed by Marion Kade I used up: 150 g The complete wrap is approx. 260 cm wide and 125 cm deep in the middle tip. The wrap is subdivided into several parts, so it can be made smaller easily.
Picked up Cookie and Anne from the airport yesterday morning – lucky that they arrived when they did as the next flights out of NYC were canceled due to bad weather. Deuce immediately decide…
Mielestäni onnistuin aika hyvin, huivi on kaunis. Tämä tulee joululahjaksi, toivottavasti saaja ilahtuu. 16.11.2016 Päivitys: Neuloin toisenkin huivin siitä toisesta kerästä. Lankaa meni 100 g ja kahden metrin pätkä jäi. Samalla piirtelin ohjetta.
Thank you again, for liking the shawl so much even before the pattern was online. I’m looking forward to see how it looks in different colors. And also, a big ‘thank you’ to my brave test knitters SaBin and sonni65 who had valuable suggestions to improve the instructions. I designed ‘Linientreu’ with the intention to find an alternative way to use yarns with short gradients (I can never resist to buy those!) without getting too many horizontal stripes. ’Linientreu’ (’In Line’) is a semicircular shawl, alternating equilateral triangles and simple garter stitch rows. The triangle modules are joined by knitting (no sewing necessary!) The right triangles at the border edge result from short rows. You can use any yarn with short gradients. Edit: Thanks to Marina Carelli bricci there is an Italian translation now. And Christine de Savoie Christine73 was almost faster than light providing a translation for the French knitters. Grazie et merci! In April 2017, Anu Koselka Kinski added a Finnish translation she did for her mother. In March 2018 DutchWoolDiva provided a Dutch translation.

Swing dancing came about in the late 1930s and had a revival in the 1990s. Many continue to swing dance and love to dress up in vintage styles. Clothing styles from the 1940s and 1950s have the most appeal to swing dancers and lindy hoppers, whereas Charleston dresses are ideal for '20s dances. These two
