Kijk nou toch!! The last phase of my Advanced Tangle Transitions class with the Art Clubbers, and I find this stage a little tricky. To ease it off a little, I selected a Zentangle 101 tile, and that's probably what we'll do in class.

Last week was drawing with some friends - I asked one of them to pick the tangles we would play with and she said - anything with a butterfly! We also used Purk, Bunzo, Eofer (Iris Heidt), Clob (Jem Miller). Super swirly!

This month's template #17 of the Zendala Moments I drew with a black Micron 005 and a pink PN pen. Shaded with a pencil.

This is Jenice Kee's Jeweled Garden, part of Zentangle Beyond Language event. Halfway through, silly me decided to add a hatched ribbon, leaving no room for the other tangles! I like the result anyway, THANK YOU Jenice for a fantastic project.
I love the template from the Zendala Momentz of this month. You can find it here I drew with a black fineliner and colored with coloed pencils. The black with a brushpen.
Daily meditation with Art Raffle app pulled out a Donut String and tangles Squid, Fife and Printemps. Love the depth!
Last week's hexagon tile led to a fragment study. It's not quite ready to post. So, I thought I'd take a slight break from my fragment study and share these. One of my fragments inspired these pentagon tangles (pentangles). Both were complete on Zendala tiles. String that divides tile into 10 segments in the middle and only 5 extending to edge. Both tiles have the same string, except the outer circle is smaller on one. Maryhill and Paradox only partially shaded. Notice how shading Maryhill adds to the lines of the pattern (only the top two arms are shaded here). No shade yet. And this photo is prior to all shading. Aren't they cool? Paradox and Maryhill, one of my favorite combos. Maryhill, Skwim, Mooka and a touch of Flux I'm hoping they inspire you a bit.....and that you check back again for my fragment study! TTFN!
Zendala Moments #3. I made this one at the beginning of our vacation to Ireland in April. Pepper is the leading actress in this one, hiding behind some Flux, Dragonair and a version of Sistar. I found Tomas Padros step outs for Taiga on Instagram and thought Template Zendala Moments #4 was perfect for this awesome tangle. Other tangles used are Betweed, Flux, Crescent Moon and Mooka. Zendala Moments #5. Zendala Moments #5, a funny template, although I am not so fond of so many circles in the layout. I decided to use 4 for Plum Lei and 4 for Crescent Moon. Others are Flux and Mooka. I like the centre part, but don't know what to do with the band to get it more visible. I leave it as it is and are happy with the final result.
Thank you to every one who has written such beautiful comments for this week's Diva Challenge on truffle. I enjoyed truffle so much I couldn't resist a adding some cruffle too!! You can find Sandy Hunter's cruffle at Tanglebucket If you missed it here is Caroline Broady's truffle Size : 8" x 10"
The Bright Owl has started off the new year with an unusually interesting zendala template. I had lots of fun with it - albiet, unconventional. Zendala - Sakura Microns Brown & Black; PrismaColor Pencils on tinted tan paper If you have not yet seen Erin's Zendala, take a look here. It is gorgeous! ~ Happy tangling... ....thank you for visiting and commenting. I do appreciate hearing from you. ~

Just discovered how beautiful the dark blue 05 Pigma draws on the Renaissance tiles. I also really like the Prismacolor pencil in 'baby poo mustard'. Opus Tile Opus Tile
The Zendala Moments for February is a real challenge. We do not have a template for it, but we should draw a spiral as a string. I drew 4 spirals with the Micron TP pens in purple ,pink and brown. Shaded with colored pencils and finished with text (February 2020) in brown around the Zendala. Zendala Moments #14
Zendala Monents #7 already by Annette I love these templates she gives us every 15th of the month. Thank you again Annette. This one I drew with an balpoint pen and filled in with a blue brushpen. I wanted it to look a bit like the Dutch "Delft blue".
For the Zendala Moments #3 here's my contribution. I drew with a black Micron 01 and colored with colored pencils. The tangles I used are: Dragonair, Onamato, Rotaflow and Taaj Thank You Annete for this beautiful template!
Here's a fun little project I did a couple months back using a Elizabeth Craft / Moda Scrap die (1498-Happy Frame XL) and Zentangle®. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Tipple anyone? Add a few Zenstones (or are they gummy candies?) Filling in the nooks and crannies adds so much to Tipple And that's a lot of Tipple! Each side of frame glued, and all glued together. Here I added an old favorite tile of mine, but its a bit busy. (a Cubine/Pokeroot combo) And here is another old favorite of mine, Isochor. I'm happy with this one for now, but I can swap out tiles anytime I like. The above "tile" is another die, from My Favorite Things. I used one die from the Color Drops STAX (MFT-1117) and cut 6 drops from Bristol vellum before trying out the Cadent tangleation showcased a couple months back on Kitchen Table Tangles in the Zentangle Mosaic app. Thanks for dropping by!
This pattern came to be a few weeks ago while I tagged along with various members of my family to Chuck E Cheese. I did, I'm sure, what most normal people do... pretended I was tangling on the beach with a mai tai and not surrounded on all sides by a riot of screaming children. ;o) Zentangle is so great for that... temporary mental relocation for the cost of a pen and a tile! As per my usual, my directions probably seem more complicated than they need to be. These are just some tips and tricks that help me with my drawing style... you may not need them. And if you're not a perfectionist, you can skip this part altogether: • This is not a fast pattern to draw... the third step especially is a real time-suck. I found that it helps to use a smaller pen for the third step than you use for the first two... and (like a lot of patterns) it really helps to slow it down while drawing it. • It sounds nit-picky but if you do all your circles at once, then all of your lines, then switch pens for the swoop that connects those lines you won't have to keep switching back and forth (and your swoop-to-line connections will be neater). • You could just draw a circle and park a flower in it, but the lines that go in first provide consistency in spacing and depth. They also keep the lines from going too far into the circle... otherwise it looks more like a flower. I draw from the inside to the edge because that works really well to control the length of the lines. • I section off a circle the same way I section off my mandalas so I don't have to use a ruler or measure. Imagine a clock: the first line is drawn at twelve, then six, then three, then nine. I then cut those sections in half until I have the number of sections I want. Center each new line between two existing lines, and then draw the opposing one directly across from it. • I draw the dots in step 4 in the same order that I do the lines... I don't just go around the inside of the circle. I don't know why it works, but drawing them across from each other helps me keep the dots centered on each line. I can't believe I'm even saying this, but I think I should have used red for this one. Using different numbers of lines/lobes will give you a different look. So far I've found that 12 is the easiest to section off and looks the best. And 24 makes a nice throw rug. A little shading adds some oomph... do you see innies or outies? >>> An exciting update...!!! <<< I was looking at the above tile last night (after I'd already published this post, naturally... that's when the good ideas roll in!), when it hit me: this pattern would look SO AWESOME with one of Lynn Mead's dewdrops in the center! I'm rather fond of daisies so I was quite taken with this idea. I contacted Lynn, and she graciously accepted my challenge and sent me this beauty. If you want to learn how to draw your own dewdrops, you know what to do! >>> .oOo. I absolutely love the contrast between the stark black & white and the soft grays... collaboration between tanglers always brings new and unexpected surprises! Enjoy!
