To knit or crochet something and leave it out in the public space is a relatively new phenomenon. The act has been called yarn graffiti, yarnstorming og yarnbombing. In October 2011 I decided to yarnstorm to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month and help raise awareness about breast cancer. This is a pattern for a Pink Breast, very suitable for yarnstorming. Note: The pattern is written with US crochet terms so if you crochet the UK way, be aware that a single crochet in US terms is a double crochet in UK terms.

This modern triangular shawl features a fun mix of garter colour blocks and squishy brioche stitch in two colours. Worked as a sideways bias-knit triangle with a centred bottom tip makes it an enjoyable knit and easy to wear item. I seem to be seeing brioche everywhere at the moment, so this is my little contribution. If you have never knitted brioche stitch this shawl would be a great project for you to try and practice the basic technique. The pattern has been well tested by knitters who had never done any brioche knitting before (and also by some experienced knitters) and they all found the pattern easy to follow and made some beautiful shawls! The pattern provides fully written out as well as charted instructions. I hope you’ll enjoy the pattern! SIZE: -length along top edge: approx. 205cm/80.7“ -depth: approx. 54cm/21.3“ YARN: Designed for fingering weight yarn in two contrasting colours. Allow approx. 410yds/375m of each colour to get the size of the sample; easily adjustable for other yardages. This is the fifth design in the Celtic Cable Shawls collection. The construction of this lace-weight shawl is rather complex and unusual. The shawl begins with the centre square, worked outwards in the round. Then, two of the edges around the square are filled in with short rows, and the body is worked in stocking stitch, finished with lace ribbing. After this, the other two edges of the square are filled in and rest of the shawl is worked exactly as the other side. someone asked for a mitten pattern as this is just a chart. The pattern I am using is the cat mittens pattern for sale by Jorid Linvik. You may apply this chart if you wish to the free pattern by Diane Mulholland called Mittens to Order. Thank you Diane for such a useful pattern. I hope it helps everyone. I am using the lovely idea for extra tentacles on the palm to make a new palm chart. I will add it to this file (not replace it) for anyone who prefers the tentacle option in the palms. Also, please note a few of my ‘test knitters’ (haha) have made some mods to the design including: inverting the colors so that Cthulu is the lighter color and space is the darker color, removing the miniChtulu from the mitten to add more tentacles, and using an alternate thumb. Thanks to you guys for fantastic ideas. I am personally knitting the pattern with inverse colors and will make that pattern available shortly. I was told that there is not a second thumb on the chart. I was planning to make the thumb the same, but if you want a second one I would just do a quick flip on the one there. I will edit the pattern as soon as I can to include a mirror thumb. Thanks!!!
Description This asymmetrical shawl in two sizes (petite/tall) is worked side to side in alternating bands of garter stitch and simple-to-work lace mesh. The pattern may be worked in any combination of natural shades and/or colors; the size is easily adjustable as well. The off-kilter progression of the striping allows the final fabric to drape into just the right folds without a lot of fuss.
