This machine is the offspring of one of the famous typewriters, the brother 220. With a few small improvements and modifications this machine is a tiny bit sturdier, but basically just as good as its ancestor. The biggest difference are the white keyboard and details, rather than the black ones on the brother 220. Both are like the nokias of the typewriter world. They last for a long long time even when used relentlessly. And now, due to me, you can get them in some fun colors. Whichever color you want (or whichever specific keyboard layout you want) let me know and I will paint a blank white typewriter exactly to your liking. From green to pink to glitters and gold. You might also note that some of the tags on the front of the machine say Vendex 500. That is because the Brother 900 nameplate is brown, and some people preferred a more neutral black color, even though the nameplate would say something different. One more note. Temporarily these machines come without a case. I've got 3 machines left and 0 cases. If portability is important to you, I can recommend the Brother 220. Same model except with black details instead of white. When ordering one you can let me know whether you want the authentic nameplate, or ask if I have something else (not always available, but often it is). Same goes for specific keyboard requests. All machines will have QWERTY, but I have some that have specific punctuation and others that have fractions like. And if you have any questions, just send me a message for more information, I'm always happy to talk about typewriters. Condition: Keys: Working perfectly. I know that many Americans will read this, and they might disagree, but I'm just going to say it: Olivetti is generally the best typewriter brand out there. Sure there are specific typewriter models that are better, and you might have that soft spot for the Smith-Corona/Remington/Royal/Underwood. But Olivetti is where it is at. And the Olivetti Lettera 32 is, is where it's at when you talk about Olivetti's. Except for the Valentine (but that's because of design reasons, not technical/writing prowess) the Lettera 32 is probably one of the most famous and well known typewriters in the world. Many writers, like Phillip Roth, Cormac Mcarthy and Sylvia Plath wrote their poems and novels on the Lettera 32. (The typewriter used by Cormac Mcarthy was later sold for 250,000$ on an auction). It's very light to the touch, relatively quiet compared to some other machines and generally just one of the best typewriters out there. And then as an added bonus from me, I'll paint it in whatever color you like :) (NOTE: Since these are made to order, there can be slight differences in punctuation keys for example, I'll always get you a QWERTY machine, but if you want the $ or a 1/2 for example, let me know and I'll make sure yours has that key) If you want me to make one in another color specifically for you, you can let me know and we can talk about it. After customizing many different typewriters I have been extending my reportoire to more complex machines (taking this one apart is somewhat complex). And with that, now you can ask me for an Olympia Traveler in any color you like. Whether that's with black with glitters or green with a shiny finish, just let me know and I can make it for you :) The typewriter itself is pretty solid. It's not super famous or sought after, but it's a very reliable typewriter and the only reason it'll stop writing is when you get writers block. If you want a simple typewriter that you can use to finish A Song of Ice and Fire a couple times over, this will allow you to do that and more. If you have any questions, please ask them. I'll be happy to answer. Condition Keys: all working perfectly Ribbon: Freshly replaced when shipped out. Other mechanics: Working perfectly Exterior: Like new. Aaaah, the beauty of modern technology. The repeat Space Bar. An elevation in the technology of the machines that are called typewriters. Writing just became so much more easy with this key and going through your story is so much easier with the comforts of this new addition to an already famously well working machine. In all seriousness though, it's a really useful addition of a small key that allows you to quickly go through a line, just as if you'd hold the space bar on your computer. It comes in handy if you are writing with the typewriter, personally I love using machines that have a repeat space bar. It's a nice machine. The same kind of look as the 220, but an improved mechanism with two handy new buttons that make writing a lot easier. Also the color is particularly nice, and the paint looks like it's been put on yesterday. This sturdy machine should be kept in mind if you want a sturdy portable typewriter to write a whole lot of pages on. It's a great machine from a great brand. As of writing this message (April 2022), I have sold 198 brother 220's. It has always been the bread and butter of my typewriter repairshop and for good reason. The Brother 220 is a portable, sturdy and reliable machine that is the perfect mix of small and useful. A more modern typewriter than most, but a true workhorse of the late 60's and early 70's. Over 10 million of these machines were made, but mostly in black. Now though, I'm working on giving them a second life by taking them apart, cleaning them and fixing any part that need fixing and lastly giving the exterior a new coat of paint. And this is where you come in. Because whatever color you wnat, I can make. We can even go as far as glow in the dark, glitter or other effects. Hi, I've started a second shop, making wooden wall art, in the hope that I can maybe one day create things full time. If you or anyone you know would like a beautiful decoration, check out https://kwispelstudios.etsy.com. As a thank you, if you order ANYTHING in the new shop, you'll get a 40$ discount on your typewriter. Now, back to the typewriters: It's time for celebration because I have crossed 100 custom Olivetti Lettera 35's! And that's not for nothing. They are absolutely great typewriters that coincedentally were owned by my mother, my father and my grandmother who all bought them independently from each other (but also all threw them out before my interest in typewriters started). So yeah, this model is regarded as special in my family and I guess I will have to keep that tradition going. The Olivetti Lettera 35 is one of the larger portables that Olivetti made and especially the case is quite bulky. My personal advice would be to keep the typewriter on a desk because hauling it around constantly will get annoying quick. With its size, does come a certain kind of sturdiness and reliability. The smaller typewriters get, the flimsier they tend to be due to just having to cram more and more in less and less. The Lettera 35 has no such qualms and with a solid metal exterior it's a really solid option for people who want to write a ton with their machines. Added bonus: I will paint it any color you want :) These machines are made to order so if you are looking for a very specific keyboard let me know and I will see what I have. Bottom line: If you want a tried and trusted typewriter to type all night and admire all day, the lettera 35 might be for you. A Triumph Perfekt typewriter in special green edition. A very nice typewriter with a gigantic red case. It's a bit of a heavy machine, so no hiking with this typewriter, but if you are planning on putting it down in an office or a room and take it around the house, it's perfectly suitable for things like that. One thing, the lock of this machine is not what is once was and you need to fiddle with it a bit to open the machine. Personally I'd just leave it open. When you buy it, I'll send you a video or something with how you can easily open the lock, or if you prefer it I'll disable the lock and you won't have any trouble with it. Also the machine has some rough spots as shown in the pictures. The mechanics of these German typewriter companies are often rock solid and I especially like the Perfekt machines. I've got one in red, green and black as well. They're lovely typewriters, all three, really nice to write and especially this one is beautiful to look at. If you have any question about this machine, or are looking for any specific typewriter, let me know and I'll try to find it. This relatively modern looking typewriter is a completely mechanical one that is produced in a beautiful baby blue color. A smooth machine that makes me think of some Torpedo Streamliner that I have had a few years ago. It's an ultra clean and very well working typewriter. One with very modern design and that fits in its fairly small and slick black case. I like the normal look that the machine has when the case is closed and then when you open it there's the bright blue of the exterior of the typewriter itself. An easy to use typewriter that works well and will probably last for the coming decades if you take a bit of care of it (which means regularly use it, but not in the shower or in a super dusty environment (or if you do, just close the lid when you're not using it). I'd recommend it. For sure. if you have any questions, please ask them. I'll be happy to answer. The pictures that I always used for this machine were really nice and somewhat successful even, but as you might have read in some of my other listings I am trying to professionalize my store a bit, to go together with the professionalization of my whole life. So! New pictures, still beautiful, because once again Vendex made a typewriter that's really easy to take good pictures of. It makes me proud to be Dutch since this Dutch brand is just producing (or was, but you know) super nice typewriters. I mean the Dutch didn't produce them, these are rebranded Brother typewriters, but then again Brother and Olivetti were the two most common and well-used typewriter brands during the 60's and it's really noticeable. This typewriter is brilliant. It's bright orange and looks very very nice. It has the typical Brother/Vendex look with the nice round edges and the clip-on case, making sure that it's very space efficient even when stored. But be quick! Dutch people often hoard Orange typewriter because it's the national color. I've seen many Dutch people with dozens of orange typewriters. Hundreds even (the previous statement might be made up). An awesome typewriter for a new writer. Beware though, after this, you will start a collection and might get obsessed with typewriters. You have been warned. Condition Keys: Working perfectly. Here a beautiful made to order Olivetti Lettera 25. The white keys make for a beautiful contrast with most color choices and whichever one you want, I can make. From red to green to black with glitter and even things like crackled paint or marbled patterns, I'll make your machine just how you want it. And then, because it's an Olivetti typewriter, you can write on it for 50,000 pages and more. There are a lot of typewriter brands, but Olivetti made machines that were really good until very late which is a big advantage because even though I love Royal P's with my whole heart, those machines started production 40 years before these Olivettis came on the market and you can notice that in how they write. With Olivetti, you can't really go wrong. Easy to work with, light to the touch and all-round great typewriters. The Lettera 25 has a plastic body which is a lot lighter, but also a little more scratch-prone than the Lettera 32 or 35 (also a bit cheaper). So as long as it isn't moved constantly, I'd say this one can be the machine for you :) For questions or personal recommendations or just if you want to hear me geek about typewriters, feel free to write. I was so happy to be able to work on it, fix it up in the way that it now works again. An interesting thing about this typewriter is that a couple of the keys are raised higher to be able to put accents on the different letters. I've never really seen that on different machines. The case of this machine is not original, but it is a well fitting brother case, so I decided to leave it. The iconic Olivetti Valentine Typewriter in bright red. This is by far one of the most well known typewriters of the 21st century. With permanent places in not only many typewriter collections, but dozens of design meseums all over the world. One of those is the London Design museum, which currently displays my Blue Olivetti Valentine in their permanent exhibition. The Valentine was a statement typewriter against the boring machines used for office work, and designed to be used for fun writing, loveletters and everything not work-related. Hence the bright red color of both the typewriter and case, something you wouldn't see on the office floor. The ribbon has just been replaced and the machine is writing nicely. The top of the machine has the two small dots that protect it when it is in the case and as a result you can see that there's not a scratch on the typewriter top (which is often damaged slightly). However, the machine has been scratched somewhat as you can see on the pictures, and more importantly it's missing its front bumper. So aesthetically it's not in perfect condition, but it'll still write great :) If you have any questions at all, please ask them. This is one of the sunniest typewriters that I own. A really nice machine that's bright and light and easy to work with. Set it in the sun and it'll brighten any day with its shiny white keys and dark green exterior. The machine is usually a little more portable than it is now, because it's missing the case that it usually comes in. Of course that does nothing to diminish the quality of the typewriter itself. You just can't go and hike with it as easily. The mechanism of the machine is working really well. It was already working quite well when I got it, and now it's I would almost dare say back in mint condition, the only exception being that two of the keys have yellowed a little bit due to age. if you have any questions, please ask them. Alright first look at the last picture. That's the inside of this Olivetti Valentine. I've started adding these pictures because I've been seeing some dirty freaking machines up for sale on here. Not even cleaned between the keys or whatever, but here you can see. Every typeslug has been cleaned, the carriage has been taken apart, beneath the carriage and inside the carriage the machine has been cleaned. Every type-arm was cleaned and now you can see the sheen of steel once more. The only thing I have not been able to do, because it's a chemical that you need 2 things for that I don't have, an outside (live in an apartment) and sunlight (live in The Netherlands) so someone braver than me can try that, I'm just the mechanic haha. Because that's something quite noticeable. The outside of the machine has been exposed to UV lights for quite some years and it has caused the case to yellow. This process takes 50 years of full sunlight, so no worries about having this wonderful typewriter on your sunlit desk. Because that is where this fits. Especially in a light environment, the white of this typewriter really shines bright and it's absolutely gorgeous. Of course the red Valentine is the most famous one, and the blue and green are stunning too, but there is something really nice about the neutral white of this edition. Of course, and I don't even have to say this, but every part has been tested, cleaned and cleaned again. It's in perfect working order and should remain that way for decades. Outside of the yellowed exterior the only thing with this machine is that some has tried to take off the exterior and it's created some fractures in the front bumper (as depicted). Should not become a problem, should not even break off, but it's a fragile point on the machine. A great typewriter for people who would like to have a beautiful piece of design in their house :) Condition Keys: all working perfectly Ribbon: Just replaced and thus brand new Other mechanics: working perfectly Exterior and case: Case has yellowed severely, but the typewriter is still looking good. So whatever color you want, just let me know and I will make it for you. And if you have any questions, just send me a message for more information, I'm always happy to talk about typewriters. I love Rheinmetall Typewriters. All of the ones I had were of very high quality and every time I see one for sale I try to get it because I know that the chances are really high that I can get it to a top notch machine again. They all type really light and have an incredibly consistent type-action. Each key strikes the exact same place the exact same way as all the other keys. Nothing ever sticks, nothing ever breaks down. It comes with a fresh ribbon so you can start typing right away and has a QWERTY keyboard. All in all, it's really high quality, really sturdy, very reliable and easy to work with. If you have any questions about it, please do not hesitate to ask them. Condition Keys: all working perfectly Ribbon: Freshly replaced when shipped out. Other mechanics: Working perfectly Exterior: Like new. It's time for celebration because I have crossed 100 custom Olivetti Lettera 35's! Condition Keys: all working perfectly Ribbon: Freshly replaced when shipped out. Other mechanics: Working perfectly Exterior and case: Exterior like new, case a little battered. Now, back to the typewriters: As of writing this message (April 2022), I have sold 198 brother 220's. It has always been the bread and butter of my typewriter repairshop and for good reason. I keep forgetting to take proper before pictures, because I am so proud of the contrast with the after ones. But you're just going to have to take my word when I say that this typewriter was a dirty, not-functioning machine before, and look at it now! A beautiful shiny classic Groma Model N. Quick to type and easy to use. QWERTY keyboard for your convenience and a missing return lever for some slight inconvenience but you can't really replace those parts because they are welded on. Still though, it works really well and even without a return lever this machine should be used for actual writing. It's high-quality enough that it would be a shame if it was just a decoration. Not to say that it shouldn't also be nice decoration because 1. it doesn't have a case but more importantly 2. it's really gorgeous. That's what an hour of polishing gets you! Bottomline: Really well working very nice shiny typewriter missing its return lever which shouldn't stop you from hammering out stories or letters. If you have any question. Please ask them and I'll be happy to answer. Condition Keys: All working perfectly Ribbon: Just replaced and thus brand new Other mechanics: Working perfectly, except the return lever that is missing. Exterior: great condition More information Brand: Groma Model: Model N Colour: Black Keyboard layout: QWERTY

Now, back to the typewriters: The Vendex brand is a 'Dutch' brand which means that it's Brother typewriters reskinned for the Dutch market. But! I do love them. Not (only) because they are Dutch, but also because Brother made some really good typewriters and so pretty much every Vendex is really nice to use. They write lightning fast, they look cheerful and great in any retro decoration and you better use them to write with because that's why I work so hard to clean and fix them up. Right now this machine writes like new. For the writers who don't want to write by hand because it's too slow, and don't want to write on their computer because they get too distracted, there's the Vendex 800. If you want to ask me any questions, please do. I like rambling about these machines. Condition Keys: Working perfectly. I only rarely get the chance to customize Lettera 22. They are a bit of a rarity and it's unfortunate because they are SUCH GOOD typewriters to write with. They are in my top 5 of best typewriters. The fluency with which you can write on a Lettera 22 is extremely high and personally I love using them to write with. Light typing action and with an interesting feel of the keys bouncing back quite fast, allowing for a very smooth writing experience. Not only that, but just a few years after being brought to market, it already won the prize for the best designed machine of 100 years. EVEN BETTER! I will paint it for you. No more brown or pale blue (the blue looks pretty good, but sometimes it's a bit damaged). Rather, if you want them in green, yellow, pink or purple, don't hesitate and just send me a message. I'm sure we'll be able to get you the machine that is right for you. One very important thing. These machines are made to order, which means that the pictures you see here are not the machine that I have ready for you. I always have a good handful of this model in their original colors, but they all small differences in the keyboard layout or keyshape. If you are looking for something specific, please message me and I'll find the right one for you, and if you don't mind as long as it's QWERTY (which is the most important thing), then you can just order the machine and I'll get you something beautiful. If you have any questions. Please ask away and we will gladly answer all of them. I currently have a good handful of these Olivetti Valentines up for sale and that is because they are one of the most famous typewriters out there. Olivetti is probably the best typewriter brand out there, with some singular models of other brands equaling their quality. These Valentines are definitely living up to that quality and after a complete overhaul they are once again fully functioning. If you are a writer looking for a beautiful designer object that will last you for decades, this is one of those. It has some small damage on the top which you can see in the pictures. This is a sign of an early Valentine which did not yet have two small bumper dots that would protect the machine while in the case. If you have any questions (even once you think are stupid). Please ask them. I'd be happy to answer them Condition Keys: all working perfectly Ribbon: Just replaced and thus brand new Other mechanics: working perfectly Exterior and case: Some small standard damage on the top of the machine. It took me quite a while to figure out what this typewriter was exactly. The name says Remington, but then what specific model that is, is quite something else to figure out. Apparently, looking at a few hundred pictures of typewriters (a usual Tuesday) someone told me that it had the design of the Torpedo 18. So, a nice Torpedo 18 typewriter. Writes really well and comes with a somewhat bulky case (I mean this is definitely a desk typewriter, sure it's portable in the way that a suitcase is portable, but no one ever had fun hauling around a suitcase). So basically I'd recommend using this typewriter as a desk typewriter and you can use the case when you want to store it away. It has a QWERTZ layout and works really well. It's a great typewriter, beautiful piece of old machinery and a good tool to get some writing done. If you have any questions about the typewriter, please ask away. That's what I'm here for. This lovely typewriter is a version of the brother 220 rebranded for the Dutch market. Now the Brother 220 is one of the most reliable, sturdy and nice to work with typewriters that I've ever encountered and I have shipped hundreds of them all across the world. This Vendex has a slightly different top with its label, but other than that it's the exact same. It's a more modern typewriter with a black keyboard and a black clip-on case, making it easy to transport. It also comes originally in white, but is painted by me in any color you like. When ordering, just let me know what color you would like your machine to be and I will make it that way. Whether that's a matte black, a shiny red or pink with glitters.
