health and beauty benefits of avocado oil
Turning a leaf to October has me browsing around in my old autumn posts. I have a few favorite images here. October is a month for old "familiars." While I'm not much for celebrating or decorating for Halloween, I am amused at how often this term comes up in classic literature, so I'm passing this on from Wikepedia: In European folklore, "familiars" were believed to assist witches and cunning folk in their practice of magic. They would often appear as an animal (a witches cat). When they served witches, they were often thought to be malevolent, while when working for cunning folk (don't you love that term?) they were often thought of as benevolent. The former were demons, the latter were thought of as fairies. Now you know. . . . But I hope you just enjoy a few familiar scenes from fall. . . . I hope all you cunning folk are enjoying a few familiar fall scenes too! Have a great week ahead! I wish I were sitting in an easy chair before an open fire and someone was bringing me a pie. I think I deserve one too. I've been working outside almost full time for the past 3 days doing my fall cleanup. I mowed everything for the last time today and it's looking fabulous. So happy. Isn't this the sweetest room ever? I adore children's books with interior design by animals. via

My favorite time of year to decorate our home is Christmas.. that is kind of a dumb thing to say on here because I feel like you guys already know that. There is something about the tree, garland, ornaments, & of course the lights, that gets me right away. Today I wanted to share with you the lights. I'm not a pro photographer by any means so it's always hard for me to share with you what our house looks like in the daytime & even harder to share how magical it looks at night. BUT, today I am joining

Well, I am officially blown away by the response to my first batch of Tilda Cabbage Rose and Memory Lane. I knew it was beautiful, and knew others would love it too, but I didn't quite expect such an amazing response. For that, I thank you!You may have noticed that there are many sold out signs in the shop. Not to fear, a brand new order is on its way and the shop will be re-stocked! It does take approximately a month to ship from Sweden, but hopefully will arrive sometime in October. In the meantime, I have decided to add two...

Happy Friday!! It's my turn on the Pixie Noel Blog Tour and Sophie and I are so excited to share this super cute fabric from Tasha Noel and Riley Blake Designs with you!! I have been a fan of Tasha Noel's fabric since the very first time I laid my eyes on The Simple Life. I recently used my very last scrap of that adorable fabric and was sad. But not for long. Tasha asked if I would like to be a part of the blog tour, and I instantly knew what I wanted to make! These prints are so perfect for fussy cutting, and I knew that a cathedral window pillow would be the perfect project. I used the awesome tutorial by the Missouri Star Quilt Company for the pillow. I started out with 3 1/2" squares because I wanted all of the cute designs to be a part of the fussy cutting. I think I prefer this method of cathedral windows as it is easier to get your points to line up and almost no chance of raw edges popping through. I used Pellon SF-101 on the backside of the panel to keep things nice and neat and give more structure to the pillow front. The polka dot fabric is Swiss Dots by Riley Blake. The back of the pillow is a standard envelope enclosure and the pillow finishes at 18" square. Once I finished the pillow, I really wanted to make another Moda Love Quilt. I used a combination of Pixie Noel and coordinating Riley Blake basics and cut them into charm size squares. I used my most favorite method of quilting which is stitch 22 on my Brother machine, and stitched about 1" apart. I LOVE the texture it gives my finished projects. I may never quilt another way!! I still need to add the cute striped binding and love the way this looks in my daughter's room, but I think this will look so cute as either a baby quilt for a Christmas baby or as a fun table topper for your dining room!
