This is a unique opportunity to enjoy a little piece of the North East of England in your own home or to send it to one you love. I am a working artist who draws inspiration from the North East of England coastline and the iconic locations of the area. Sometimes this region is seen as grey - I see the North East as a vibrant place bursting with life, colour and the lust for life that its people exude. My style is bold and vibrant and reflects the positive outlook that I myself have. Customers often comment on the burst of joy that my work brings them. I share my work in various forms, for the wall, the mantel or the sofa and my cards have travelled the world bringing a little piece of home to those far and near. There is nothing worse than having a pounding headache and being cooped up inside. If I am suffering from a bad head (as is often the case), I often find it does me some good to take myself off to the North East coast in search of fresh air and calm. There are many spots of calm across the coastline but I find the benches overlooking St Mary's Lighthouse in Whitley Bay to be a particular quiet place to simply sit and just be. There is something very calming about taking some time out to focus on watching the tide crash around the rocks below and I find that closing your eyes for a few moments to just listen to the waves as they rhythmically move really helps to relieve any tension you may be feeling. After 10-15 minutes of fresh sea air, I will usually feel a lot calmer, more at peace and my pounding head will have often eased. St Mary's Lighthouse can be found here: St Mary's Island Causeway, Whitley Bay NE26 4RS There are plenty of seats available for you to quietly sit and watch the Sea. Why not visit the next time you feel the need to restore calm in your life. This #BetterPlaces post is in support of the Syndol Headache Relief find Your Better Place campaign with BritMums. Syndol Headache Relief is now formulated for headaches. Visit www.syndol.co.uk for online resources with information about headaches and how to restore calm in your life. Here is another photo of St Mary’s taken a few weeks ago, but this time I used a polariser, which darkened the sky, boosted the colours and increased contrast. I’m really happy with this picture. Just a shame this weather didn’t last. The next day it was overcast and cold. As I type this its raining.

A bundle of 10 of my most popular card designs of some of my favourite places up and down the North Tyneside coast, from King Edward's Bay and Longsands Beach in Tynemouth, to Cullercoats, to Spanish City and the beach at Whitley Bay, to St Mary's lighthouse. The designs are all printed from original woodblocks, collages and linocuts which I've made myself based on photographs and sketches made while exploring this beautiful part of the country. These cards are really popular both with Geordies and also with those who've lived here and moved away. They also make a nice memento from a holiday. The cards are all left blank inside so can be used for any occasion. If you would like to buy a different combination of cards, or several of the same design, just message me and I will make a custom order for you. All my cards (I have around 50 designs) can be viewed on this web page http://bykatemiller.com/trade-products Eco info - The card and paper used in my greetings cards and envelopes is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, and contributes to a carbon capture scheme involving the planting of woodlands in the UK. I don’t usually package the cards in individual cellophane bags if they are sold as a multipack, however when cellophane is used, it is made in this country and is recyclable. If you are buying individual cards from me and would prefer them not to be placed in cellophane bags, please just ask. All rectangular cards are A6 (148x105mm). I also sell another bundle of Tyneside cards, see here - https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/685386580
