“I am so inspired by the outdoors and the trips we've been on together, which is how we settled on a vague National Parks theme, and the song "America" for the processional. More than anything, we wanted our wedding to be completely ours, not a wedding that anyone else would have. So we took what we knew and loved and went with it. “ - Callison
Elements of Harry Potter were woven into several part of the day - Justin wore a Hogwarts pin and read the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone out loud to Angel in the evening. “We both love Harry Potter individually and it was just a happy coincidence that it was a shared love of ours even as adults. Since we've known each other since childhood, Harry Potter seems like a mix of our childhood and our present day. We read it ever year! It's kind of become our compass in life, as trivial as that might sound, we find a lot of meaningful life lessons in those books and we wanted to incorporate that into our marriage as well.” - Angel
“We both felt this natural, romantic draw to revisit our vows. It was the first time since our private vow reading on the wedding day that we’d recited them to each other. The unexpected delight was how we had already blurred certain details - revisiting in this intimate setting was the perfect moment and place to do so, and I’ll never forget it.” - Nick

Meagan & Akheil’s modern Washington DC destination wedding. “The first look and private vow reading turned out to be among our favorite moments. That intimate moment gave us both the time to react purely to our vows, to laugh and tear up. It also gave us the space to reflect on our relationship and affirm to one another the life that we've built, before doing so in front of our friends and family. It set the perfect tone for the rest of the celebration. Another favorite moment was walking down the aisle together arm in arm with our toddler. Rather than meeting at the front of the room, we elected to come into the room as a family and it just felt very much like us. “ - Meagan & Akheil

“Aside from the ceremony itself, our "first look" was the most calming and meaningful moment of the day for me - all the anticipation and nerves of the morning melted away as soon as we saw each other, and it was incredible to just take a breath, be together, and acknowledge that the wedding was finally upon us.” - Lizzie

Tara explained, “We wanted to share this beautiful place with everyone we love and care so much about. Shelburne Farms is simple and breathless at the same time.”The style of the buildings, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, and their integration into the landscape inspired the bride to create an elegant and timeless wedding. “It was very important to highlight nature in both the ceremony and reception spaces. We did so with lush greenery, beautiful florals, gold accents, and romantic candle light.”

“I love the memory of the moment we snuck away from everything and walked back to the platform in the vines where we had stood hours before during our ceremony. We sat on the platform and just watched the crowd inside--the lights changing colors, the people dancing, the fire pit embers burning down--I'm grateful that we took the time to sit and really soak it all up before the night was over, because it does go by in a flash. Someone came outside and as they opened the door, we heard the DJ announce the last dance--so we went sprinting back inside to catch that last song with our people. It was the perfect end to the night.” - Dani
