Do you like vintage-inspired children’s clothing? Well, I might have just the thing: the Little sailor vest. This pattern was originally published in I Like Knitting magazine (April 2018), in baby sizes; in my newly-published version, I’ve expanded the sizing up to age 8, so you can make the vest for your bigger kids too. The Little sailor vest is a tank top featuring a traditional sailing boat. The vest is inspired by vintage clothing, and is the perfect traditional item for a child’s wardrobe. The vest is knitted from the bottom up in pieces. The boat is knitted on a stocking stitch background using the intarsia technique - I’ve included the intarsia section as both a chart and as written instructions, so you can follow whichever you prefer. The hem, armholes and necklines are knitted using 2x2 rib and the armholes and necklines are picked up and knitted after the garment has been seamed. The shoulders are fastened using buttons to allow for easy dressing. The vest is designed to fit ages 3 months to 8 years, with 5 cm (2 inches) of positive ease. Sizing details are given in full below. Want to knit your own Little sailor vest? Here’s everything you need to know! Sizes - finished chest size; recommended ease, 5 cm (2 in) 3 months: 45.5 cm (18.25 in) 6 months: 47 cm (19 in) 12 months: 50.5 cm (20.25 in) 18 months: 52 cm (20.75 in) 2 years: 57 cm (22.75 in) 4 years: 63 cm (25.25 in) 6 years: 68 cm (27.25 in) 8 years: 71 cm (28.5 in) Tension 25 sts and 32 rows = 10 cm (4 in) in stocking stitch worked flat on 4 mm (US 6) needles after wet blocking, or size needed to obtain correct tension. "Shower" the mom-to-be with love with this modern, gender-neutral, rain drops & clouds decorated baby shower! I designed the party printables for my sis-in-law who knows that the gender of her baby is a girl, but she is NOT a girly-girl kind of mama, so I wanted to make something that reflected her style... Each guest received a pop of sunshine in the mail... With a vibrant and bright yellow chevron pattern and mint colored accents, this invitation set the tone for a fun event to come! Each invitation asked the guests to bring a children's book in replace of a card and included a printable bookplate for the guest's to adhere in their book. Now, the new mama and dad will be able to read each book to their new bundle and know which book came from a guest from the shower! At the shower, the drink station was one of the focal points. Fun tissue-paper-clouds with paper rain drops framed a darling printable banner. Water bottles were spruced up with printable paper wraps and mason jars were filled with a darling yellow striped straw and paper cloud-shaped tag. We managed to add a pop of pink in for the baby-girl-to-come with pink lemonade! Yellow and mint green was the perfect color palette for this non-girly mama, but would also be perfect for showering a mom-to-be who doesn't know the gender of her baby. Tissue "poms" made the perfect white clouds with paper rain drops hanging from each... Each place setting had a printable place mat to add a pop of color... Everything had a label, from the napkins to fruit kabobs... Its always great when you have a talented family member who can contribute to the party... we hired "Aunt Linda" to make her famous, and delicious, cake pops! Perfectly matching bows and yellow frosting made these cake pops the biggest hit of the party! Can't get enough of the details! Guests scooped lemon drops into their own chevron-printed baggie... Cloud and Rain drop shaped cookies made for fun, playful and tasty take-home favors... Every baby shower needs games and prizes... riiiight?! We didn't want to give a gift that would end up in the trash {you know what I'm talking about} so winners of Baby-Shower-Bingo and Guess the Celeb Baby won these bad boys... Custom made chalk boards, by my fabulously talented sis-in-law, at Leisure Living Furniture ... Here's the party in action! Create your own modern Cloud & Rain Drop Baby Shower using nellie*design's printable party package... Close up of the invitation suite... Be sure to break the ice with these FUN baby shower games!
