Strikket av Wenche Magerøy / Designet av Kate Fredriksen Kate er ei god Strikkevenninne som bor i Trondheim, har ved flere anledninger vært sammen med henne. Både her i Tananger på Strikketreff og når eg har besøkt flotte Trondheim! Me var faktisk på tur til Selbu sammen, en tur eg huske GODT pga av god stemning og masse godt humør :) Kate har den senere tid begynt så smått å designe litt selv og jammen får den dama det til, ikkje for at eg egentlig var i tvil om det altså! Eg hører posten er her og litt etterpå tikker det inn en ny mail: "Pakken deres er levert videre" Ka det er for noe tull!?? 4 nøster får da fint plass i kassa vår! Men når eg går for å hente posten er det jo ikkje rart, postbudet har først trykket kassa full av REKLAME aviser!!! Hva tror du står på lokket hos oss? Nettopp: "Nei til reklame" Hmmm tar meg en tur innom på posten eg: De vet IKKJE hvor den pakken er blitt av! "Kanskje et av de andre budene har pakken din?" Sier han bak disken og se spørrende på meg! EG vet jo ikkje, men pakken VIL eg ha, men eg får den ikkje...... den NYDELIGE Finull`a mi......Jaja, eg fikk beskjed om å vente på nærmere beskjed...på mail..... Det var så kaldt ute i dag så nå har eg pakket meg godt inn i flanellpysj (JULETE så klart!) og ei stor og god morgenkåpe, Strikkekafeèn utgår i dag siden mor mi trenger strikkehjelp :) Da blir det strikkekos her i kroken heller, kos det også! Straks er det middag noen som passer fint siden tarmene er på vei ut for å hente noe mat selv! Mesiheinä / velvet grass Designed in 1964 by Terttu Tomero for the company Neovius Oy. In contrast to the bold colors typical of interior design in 1960s, Mesiheinä is created using a light and harmonious color palette. The name refers to a sweet smelling grass plant typical to the meadows of southern Finland. Item features a Minimalist and abstract multi-color pattern in a color mix of grey, yellow, brown and red tones etc. The short history of a relatively long pile The ’ryijy’ (in Finnish) or ’rya’ (in Swedish) is a traditional Scandinavian wool rug which has its roots in the prehistorically era of northernmost Europe. Ryas were originally multipurpose textiles used traditionally as bed coverings and blankets that provided insulation in harsh climates when traveling by boat or sleigh. Their design gradually combined original motifs from local Folk Art tradition, including influence from oriental rugs brought to Scandinavia by Viking merchants and later, imitations of Baroque floral patterns seen in expensive imported fabrics within the homes of the nobility. Since 18th century, the Ryas became part of the Finnish wedding ceremony as a sort of prayer rug upon which the bride and groom stood during the ceremony. The textile was then hung on the wall of the new home of the married couple as a tapestry and served as a memento of the happy occasion. All country houses had a Rya on their wall. A national romanticism in the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries generated new interest in the use of folk textiles for interior decoration within new burdgeoning urban environments and inspired artists to make new Jugendstil influenced Rya designs. Following the recovery from World War II, the 1950s marked an international breakthrough of Finnish design. Functionalist furniture, ceramics, glassware and kitchen utensils became new areas of creative interest for a new generation of designers. This new wave of design influence led to a reinvention of the Rya as a modernist design piece during the golden age of Finnish design in the 1950s and 1960s. These Ryas were sold as kits with materials and design for home manufacturing as well as ready-made pieces by professional weavers such as Suomen Käsityön Ystävät (”The friends of handicrafts in Finland”). Both types can be considered genuine, for the tradition of Rya is essentially one of home manufacture and living Folk Art.

His chariot is pulled by his two goats, Tanngnjóstr and Tanngrisnir. The power belt Megingjörð doubles his strength. Evocative of the battle between good and evil, truth and falsehood, "Thor’s Fight with the Giants" is one of the most important works by the Swedish artist Mårten Eskil Winge. Winge was influenced by the Old Norse sagas while growing up and, under the influence of a national movement to reclaim the Norsemen as heroic ancestors, sought to revive the motifs of Norse history and legends. In 1872 he sold "Thor’s Fight with the Giants to King Charles XV," who died the same year and bequeathed it to Sweden’s Nationalmuseum, where visitors queued up for hours to see it. ART-CENTRIC DESIGN ----------------------------- Vintage art is not standardized. The original works are usually too long, or too short, to neatly fill a store-bought frame. Most shops arbitrarily crop the artwork to match, leading to claustrophobic prints with missing or partial elements. These modifications — sometimes trivial, sometimes ludicrous — are not always shown in the product photos. We believe that the purpose of art is not to fill a frame; it is the purpose of a frame to showcase the art. Our prints have inset borders that make up any differences in proportion between the artwork and a standard frame, so that you can experience the art as the artist intended. They look sharp in beveled mats, may be float mounted, or inserted directly into standard frames; the borders providing a mat-like accent around the image. There are many styles from which to choose.
