More than $850 million — that's the estimated value of the legendary Mona Lisa painting. Nevertheless, one of the most famous paintings and an iconic Renaissance art piece is not for sale. Under French heritage law, an artwork declared priceless is prohibited from being bought or sold. Although you might not be able to take the painting home, you can still take a glimpse at the iconic smiling lady in the Louvre for less than the cost of a meal at Mickey D's.

Louise Bourgeois is best known for her spider sculptures, including Maman for Tate Modern. This exhibition of her later works is akin to a self-portrait, a web of contradictions and ambiguities, says Anna McNay
During her seventy-year career, Louise Bourgeois became an artist of wide influence and art-historical importance. Her charged work, a distinctive mix of abstraction and figuration, delves into childhood memories and the emotional struggles of everyday life. Working… more

***** www.walkerart.org This posting for Black History month 2013 will be to highlight and honour the artwork of the contemporary American artist Kara Walker, as well to be included in the "RCJ Music/ Art's Honour Roll Society". Recently Ms. Walker's art got quite a bit of criticism when a particular piece with some sexual theme in it, was put up in a Newark, NJ Library, and of course, this is something that any artist will get from time to time from folk's who get their panties/ knickers in a bind and get too swallowed up into the politpop correctness culture we have. I alwayz looked at art as for what it is, the perception, expression, and so forth of the artist, their view, etc, but ALL art's get this criticism, whether it be literature, painting's/ photography, music/ film, etc. ... and Kara's art is distinctively "Kara's" without a doubt, with it's own flavour rooted deeply in it. Historically though, is not Kara's "art" an accurate enough depiction of the condition? ... perhap's they're looking for somethin a lil more fictional, some added fantasy of some sort, as far as some of the critic's are concerned, eh? But for all those folk's (particularly American's) with a tad too much starch in their britches who love to BMB (bitch, moan, and bellyache) over art ... there is certainly a whole buffet of piece's that will sure make ya'll quiver of her's {: ) But really some beautiful art piece's here, and Thank You Ms. Walker ... wishing you of course, the best of the best, indeed! ... Enjoy! I also want to dedicate this posting of course to Mr. Harmon Loft .... Kara Walker on her "uneasy relationship" with her imagination ... Can the enduring presence of such monuments among us still have the power to reinforce deep-rooted prejudices, by the very fact that they have simply not gone away?
