With all the Packout tool boxes that I own, they were scattered in stacks all over my workshop. The part that I struggled with the most was getting access to items being stored in the bottom tool box on each stack. To make storing my Packout tool boxes and accessing the items in them easier, I designed these modular and stackable plywood CNC projects that I am calling the Garage Stack Rack system. The Garage Stack Rack is designed to be cut on your CNC router using these digital files and then once you've assembled them, you can store the Large, Medium, 11 compartment, Crate or any of the other smaller Packout tool boxes. The only Packout boxes that will not fit are the Rolling tool box and the Rolling Tool Chest. The design features (2) fixed shelves for storing Packout tool boxes and the Rolling Base Garage Stack Rack can be modified to fit up to (1) Sliding Trays if storing lower profile Packout boxes is desired. If storing a bunch of Packout tool boxes is needed, you can add the Freestanding Garage Stack Rack (sold in another listing) to one of these to be stacked. This item is compatible with the other Garage Stack Rack CNC router files available here at Dryforge. These CNC Router files are a great way to get your CNC up and running quickly with a project that will help you organize your Packout tool boxes in your workshop. Included are Vectric Vcarve Pro CRV files, DXF files SVG files and 3D files for using the models or drawings to generate your own Rolling Base Garage Stack Rack for Packout tool boxes! The largest part to be CNC Routered on this project is 27-1/2" (699mm) in size. What is in a Dryforge CNC Router File Pack: If you'd like to read an in-depth overview of what is included in the CNC Router project file packs made by Dryforge, you can read our blog at: https://dryforge.com/blogs/cnc-router-projects/what-is-in-a-cnc-router-file-pack-from-dryforge Included: The design is available in formats for working with material in the following thicknesses: • 23/32" (18mm) • 3/4" (19mm) Each including the following File Formats: • Fusion 360 • STEP • Vectric VCarve Pro CRV • DXF • SVG • Adobe Illustrator Along with the files is a set of PDF Instructions and notes. _____________________________________________ Terms of Use: • Sales are non-refundable and non-returnable. • Downloaded orders are non-refundable and non-returnable. • These files are for personal use only. Building a project in front of an audience is one thing. Designing it and building it on the fly is enough to drive me to drink.

I needed a modest-sized tool chest to transport tools I will be using at a workshop this summer. I wanted something fairly compact, not a "master craftsman" chest (another project for another...
No, this isn't about a bookmatched, dovetailed toolchest with 50 compartments and inlay in the shape of a drawknife, although I dream of having one! I have often been asked about the tools required to make a chair, and since I travel so much these days, it's become evident, and imperative that I figure out the necessities in my shop. One of the joys of chairmaking is the limited tool list, and in the cauldron of the classroom, I've refined this list and thought you might like to see it. There are a few things that are specific to my personal techniques, but in general, this list could get you sitting pretty after a shipwreck (on an island with ring porous hardwoods!) EDIT: Obviously, this isn't a real survivor list, which would be just a few tools, but a list of the tools that come into use in my everyday shop experience, although, all of these tools do basically fit in a toolbag. Now if I could just get Hoadley to publish a version of his book that doubles as a floatation device! Just because it's little doesn't mean it isn't manly. This tiny toolbox made from recycled Altoid tins is sure to win Dad's heart this Father's Day.

It seems like the breadth of woodworking experience is here this week: tables with (intentional) holes in, split ends, quite unhelpful dado rails and very helpful grandchildren. Never a dull moment in…
My first shop was on the back porch – 6’ x 8’ of sloping, rotting, dead opossum-smelling space. So I am sympathetic to anyone who has a small shop.
Many years ago as a boy apprentice, most of the men I trained under had large tool chests neatly placed at the foot of their benches. Their airtight lids stayed firmly shut except when a special tool was needed for a particular job. Next to (or on top of) these chests stood their traveling tool boxes, which were more compact than the larger lift-lidded chests. Through the years I’ve designed and made many such boxes. Here’s a simple version that can be made in a day using hand tools or machines.
