I use the Job Toolbox worksheet to get my 1st & 2nd graders interested in and thinking about their community helpers. It is an easy to use form, especially after a lesson about communities. First, the students list their community helper. Then, students list various tools their community leaders needs to do their job. Finally, students draw a few of the tools they have written on their list. *If you like this free download...you may also like the following: Contraction Cut and Paste 1 Contraction Cut and Paste 3

Challenge your students to blend close reading and argumentation skills as they broaden their world views! Assertion journals--written responses to pithy quotations--are an integral part of my classroom. Through them, students learn to think critically, analyze, and argue. They are frequently cited by my students as one of the most helpful and enjoyable assignments of the entire year. This product contains ten topical collections of quotations, presented attractively with unique pictures and backgrounds. While they are organized thematically, many quotations apply to multiple concepts and can be used however you see fit in your own room. I have also included my student overview, rubric, annotated exemplar, and student exemplars. While the quotation pages are not printer-friendly, I have included a simple black-and-white quote list at the beginning of each section with the full quotation and author name listed. Take advantage of the "illustrated quotation" trend and put these thought-provoking statements in front of your students to prompt deeper thinking and discussion! Contents: Alignment to Standards Assignment Overview Rubric for Journal Entries Journal Prompts, arranged by topic. Each topic contains the following: Cover page, index of quotations, quotations (one per page) Student examples Terms of Use and Credits **See preview for a sample list of authors.** Assertion Journals have been a successful part of my AP Language and Composition classroom. I have used them in three ways: -Online, independent writing that is self-directed -In-class journaling linked to discussion and/or class skills -Thought-provoking classroom decoration Benefits: -Students are exposed to a wide variety of perspectives. (When I chose the quotations for each section, I considered: 1) the suggested author list supplied by AP, 2) racial and cultural diversity of the authors, 3) accessibility as a standalone journal prompt that requires little to no background knowledge to understand, 4) the author's level of insight into the concept at hand based on experience or expertise.) -Students must apply close reading skills and argumentation skills to respond to each quotation. -Students are always free to defend, challenge, or qualify the prompts, so they gain invaluable experience in developing and justifying their opinions. This product is also available in the AP Language and Composition Bundle. A friendly note: This work is protected by copyright. ✬Here are two of my best-selling products for social skills instruction: 1. Good Choices Vs. Bad Choices: I created this cut and paste activity to teach and periodically review rules in the classroom and during lunch/ recess for my first grade autistic support class. It contains two cut and paste activities: one with pictures and phrases to discuss and decide good vs. bad choices in the classroom and one with pictures and phrases to discuss and decide good vs. bad choices during lunch/ recess. Also includes a review page where students circle the pictures of good choices and cross out pictures of bad choices. Great visuals for students with special needs and autism!! 2. Perspective Thinking: I created this product for a social skills unit to teach my students with autism about empathy and perspective thinking (thinking from other's points of view.) It uses the phrases, "Thinking of Me Kid" and "Thinking of You Kid." Children cut out pictures and decide which are examples of a “Thinking of Me Kid” and a “Thinking of You Kid.” They glue the pictures onto the correct kid cut-out. It also includes two posters explaining how a "Thinking of Me Kid" and a "Thinking of You Kid" act. ✬You may also like: Conversation Skills Play Skills Pack Social Questions Yes/ No Boards Choice Boards Grocery Store Bundle Social Skills Lap Book Social Studies: Rules vs. Laws Wants vs. Needs All About Me Create a Person ******************************************************************* Feedback is always appreciated and very helpful. This is a collection of activities to explore and reinforce key social skills topics. This 90+ page resource includes both an interactive notebook format, and a journal booklet format so all students can feel successful! INTERACTIVE VERSION: Each page is meant to be cut out and glued into students’ notebooks to create liftable flaps. Students write or draw under the flaps. There are small scissors and glue icons included to remind students where to glue and cut, however the templates are repetitive so students can quickly gain confidence and mastery. Each social skill is introduced with a poster to guide your class discussion. Students can color, cut out, and glue the poster into their notebooks for reference. Next, students complete at least one lift-the-flap template to cut out, glue into notebooks, and draw / write under the flaps. Encourage students to discuss with friends or as a group when completed to reinforce concepts. JOURNAL VERSION: Should you have students who cannot cut and paste, there is a 40-page journal included that involves no cutting. This way all students can take part in the same learning topics. To use the journal format, simply print the pages and staple together to create a booklet. Use this sign to help students self-reflect on their work and share with you their levels of understanding. Have students mark a color in the corner of their paper to show how they felt about the assignment. Blue - I fully understand this and I could teach someone else how to do it. Green - I understand this and feel pretty confident about doing it on my own. Yellow - I think I’m getting it but I need some support to complete it. Red - I really don’t understand this and I need help to complete the work. Don't forget to leave feedback...I'd LOVE to hear from my customers. If you find an error or have issues with this product please contact me via the Questions for Seller tab before leaving negative feedback. I am very passionate about my products and would really appreciate the opportunity to make it right with you, the customer. Please give me that opportunity. To Behave Or Not Behave! That Is The Question! I just spent two days at a Professional Development Conference to learn about autism and how to be a positive role model for children. I learned so much but given that
The materials in this package are adapted from Leah Kuyper’s wonderful book on self-regulation, The Zones of Regulation® (2011), published by Social Thinking Publishing, www.socialthinking.com and used with permission. If you are new to using Zones, I highly recommend implementing it into your classroom. My students are so much better at identifying their emotions and self-regulating themselves than they were at the beginning of the year! Included in this package: - interactive name plates (two files, letter and legal size for larger printing) - "What Zone Am I In?" colourful reference cards (can be used as bookmarks) - "How Big is the Problem?" colourful poster with additional teaching visual - "What Triggers Me?" graphic organizer - daily visual schedule cards These interactive desk name plates / tags provide a way for students to learn how to self-regulate their emotions and feelings by using the Zones. Students independently slide a paper clip along the Zone boxes on the left to identify what zone they are in throughout their day. If they are in a zone other than green, they look at their personal toolbox (a variety of toolbox icons are also included) and use one of the tools to help them get back to green. Each student's toolbox will vary depending on which strategies work best for them. This download comes with BOTH types of name plates, depending on whether a student prefers to use Lazy 8 Breathing or the Six Sides of Breathing strategy to relax and calm them down. *Can be printed onto 11X17 paper for larger name plates. ★Be sure to check out my Self-Regulation Memory Game based on emotions here!★ https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Self-Regulation-Memory-Game-1944540 *If you are unfamiliar with the Zones of Regulation® published by Social Thinking Publishing, here is a quick synopsis from Leah Kuypers' website. It is important that people familiarize themselves with the Zones of Regulation curriculum before using these materials. "The Red Zone is used to describe extremely heightened states of alertness and intense emotions. A person may be elated or experiencing anger, rage, explosive behavior, devastation, or terror when in the Red Zone. A person is described as “out of control” if in the Red Zone. The Yellow Zone is also used to describe a heightened state of alertness and elevated emotions; however, one has some control when they are in the Yellow Zone. A person may be experiencing stress, frustration, anxiety, excitement, silliness, the wiggles, or nervousness when in the Yellow Zone. The Green Zone is used to describe a calm state of alertness. A person may be described as happy, focused, content, or ready to learn when in the Green Zone. This is the Zone students predominately need to be in the classroom. The Blue Zone is used to describe low states of alertness, such as when one feels sad, tired, sick, or bored." The Zones of Regulation® can be purchased on the Social Thinking Publishing website here: https://www.socialthinking.com/books-products/all-products/zones-of-regulation-the-detail

Here is a fun way to learn some of the prepositions in French. In this download you will find posters, word wall cards, and a few helpful handouts. This product includes: •15 large color flash cards/posters •2 handouts with a choice of 12 prepositions or 15 prepositions (the handout comes with a black and white option) •some grammar mini flash cards (Ex: de + le = du) •a few fun worksheets and a couple of assessment options •a few instructional ideas My background is in Core French (FSL) and that is what I had in mind when I designed these materials. (I know grade 7s think they're cool, but they still love this alien.) This isn't really a comprehensive study of prepositions. It is meant as a reference and introduction. It would be a good complement to other vocabulary you are already studying. It also doesn't include any specific grammar practice. The grammar word wall is just a reference to put up in your room to help students begin to understand why "de" and "à" seem to change form sometimes. If you have any questions, leave me a note in the Q/A section. I hope you enjoy! Prepositions used: dans, sur, sous, à, de, à coté de, loin de, près de, avec, devant, derrière, pour, à gauche de, à droite de, entre Starting to think about Christmas? I have had MANY requests for the template I used to create my Behavioropoly game. See this post for more information and for links to my inspiration. On second thought, Google Docs did some weird stuff to my files when I uploaded them, so if the links don't work for you, or if you are mad at Google Docs too, then leave a comment with your email address and I will email the originals to you. I used Powerpoint and Word so you will need those applications. Enjoy! UPDATE: Due to the high volume of requests, I am no longer sending this file by email. You can get it from my TPT store here.
NO PREP This set of 6 student task cards and a teacher record sheet will guide your students to independently prepare for their next Literature Circle meeting. Each student within the group can be assigned a different literature related task. Teacher planning sheet and teacher instructions are also included. Simply print, add your set of reading books and go! Tasks Included: ♦Travel Tracer ♦Vocabulary Enricher ♦Summariser ♦Discussion Director ♦Literary Luminary ♦Connector You can use these cards to set your students off on independent preparation tasks and then guide the discussion yourself once they have prepared, or you can use one of the students to guide the discussion if you prefer that the students work independently. In my classroom, at the start of the new school year when the students are new to this type of task, I ask students to pair up to prepare together. This helps to promote relevant discussion prior to the group meeting and students feel more confident.
