This pattern contains a description of how to knit baby blanket. Pattern includes two versions for knitting a blanket: 1) working plain knitting 2) working garter stitch SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate LANGUAGES: English MATERIALS: - circular needles 100 cm (40 in) for knitting the base of a blanket; - double-pointed needles for knitting the border of the blanket; - extra long circular needles 200 cm (80 in) for knitting edging rounds around the border; !The size of the needles depends on the yarn you choose! - markers; - tape measure; - crochet hook; - tapestry needle. YARN: DROPS air (or analogs). You can use any other yarn, taking into account the NOTE below. NOTE: The finished blanket is in the shape of a square. The size of the square can be made to any size. When knitting with garter stitch, the blanket takes the shape of a square without any problems. When knitting with plain knitting, the blanket may not have an ideal square shape due to the density of knitting (diamond shape). In order for the blanket to have the squarest shape, the knitting gauge should strive to ensure that the number of rows is twice as large as the number of stitches in a 10x10 cm square. Example: 11 stitches x 22 rows. Knit the base of the blanket is not tight, so that the blanket is lighter and better draped. BLANKET CONSTRUCTION: The base of the blanket consists of two knitted triangles, which are grafted together (using kitchener stitch). Then we knit a border around the base of the blanket. At the end of work knit edging rounds around the border. YARN CONSUMPTION: Yarn consumption depends on your knitting density and blanket size. Example: 1) blanket, knitted with plain knitting: 100 х 100 cm (40x40 in), yarn 210 m /100 g (230 yds/3.5 oz), density 11 stitches X 20 rows in a square 10x10 cm (4x4 in), needles size 6 mm (US 10). Consumption 735 m (800 yds) 2) blanket, knitted with garter stitch: 110 х 110 cm (43x43 in), yarn 200 m /100 g (220 yds/3.5 oz), density 13 stitches X 24 rows in a square 10x10 cm (4x4 in), needles size 5 mm (US 8). Consumption 1100 m (1200 yds). This knitting pattern contains many photos and video-instructions. This is a DIGITAL FILE, not the actual finished item. You could talk about this album for hours, so let's try to keep it simple. In 1988, a year when "Don't Worry Be Happy" dominated the airwaves, the Pixies released their first official LP, Surfer Rosa. Produced by Steve Albini, the album has since become a blueprint for indie music and pretty much invented the genre "Alternative Rock." The biggest and most recognizable song is "Where Is My Mind," and it presents all the trademark Pixies elements that give this LP its legendary status. Here, Frank Black's vocal delivery alternates between an exhausted, "been through it all and still don't know" vindictiveness and a desperate, stuck-pig squeal, while his lyrical fascination with drowning and being taken away by an uncaring wave feels right at home in David Lovering's stark drumming. Meanwhile, Joey Santiago's jagged wall-of-spikes lead guitar and Kim Deal's ethereal back-up vocals make you realize that you have never heard anything as relentless and uncategorizable as this before. Bands like Nirvana, Modest Mouse, and Pavement have long since aped the noise-as-melody wailing sounds of "Bone Machine," "Broken Face," and "Brick is Red," and then, of course, there is "Gigantic." The entire LP is alien, immediately arresting, and absolutely brilliant, which is why every important rock band of the last 20 years has name-checked the Pixies. Lots of people like Doolittle better cause it's more accessible (me included), but screw em cause Surfer Rosa came first. Thirteen tracks in all. Released by 4AD on 180 gram vinyl. 180g black vinyl pressing music label: 4AD 2004 reviewed by the Woodman 05/2004
