The Handphone that filled by water............. After the amazing Morph handset, presented by Nokia at the beginning of the year, we now have another shape-shifting concept to bear the Finnish giant manufacturer's logo. Named exactly Nokia ShapeShift, the new concept is not presented by Nokia, as it was the case with Morph, but by Rune Larsen, a designer who is not at his first attempt of this kind. Unlike Morph, which should be a device that can entirely change its form, Rune Larsen's Nokia is able to change only the shape of its touchscreen display. More exactly, the ShapeShift's display would be made out of two special-plastic layers – the inner one being rigid and the outer one being flexible. Between them, a thin layer of a liquid substance should be able to transform the touchscreen and turn it into an alphanumeric or a QWERTY keypad. Nokia ShapeShift comes with a preset form made out of 2 plastic layers, that’ll replace the standard pixel-based screen. One of these layers is a flexible one, while the second is a hard material and between the two there’s some sort of special liquid. This will have the same refraction as the layers. Moving the liquid around between the layers creates button shapes on the surface of the display, allowing the user to interact with the handset. The cellphone measures 11 x 5,5 x 1,2 cm and weighs 125 grams, while the display is a 4 inch unit. We’re not sure if a phone like this would be GPS-enabled or not, but it’s just a design concept anyways. Judging by the whacked-out design technology in action here though, we imagine that this baby would probably feature built-in GPS. Designed by Rune Larsen, this Nokia shapeshifting concept phone is composed of two layers of plastic-one hard layer with a special liquid inside it and one flexible layer. When the liquid is compressed between the two layers, the mobile phone is capable of actually changing shape. According to Larsen, the nice-looking Nokia ShapeShift would not be heavier than 125 grams and it would measure only 110 x 55 x 12 millimeters. Moreover, its display would be a 4 inch one – larger than any display currently packed in any other mobile device. A cool and innovative concept designed by Rune Larsen shows the new cell phone with concept of changing shapes. It’s sleek and clean design makes it the best choice for any gadget lover. As per this concept, this cell phone will have 2 layers of plastic, one flexible and the other one would be hard with special liquid inside it. When the liquid is pushed between the layers they can form different shapes on the surface. As the mobile phone is capable of changing its shapes with the touch on its screen, it will surely bring a revolution in the mobile industry. Although the future technology might allow us to have a Nokia ShapeShift, the handset could actually never be built. That's because it doesn't come from Nokia and the Finnish company will almost surely concentrate on its own projects and concepts, like the Morph. Nevertheless, ShapeShift would make a beautiful and interesting handset and we can still hope that, someday, something similar will indeed hit the market.
