This week-long unit will teach your students to APOLOGIZE WITH EMPATHY. Designed for five 30-minute lessons/activities. I teach apologizing all of the time in my social skills group. I have found that most apologizing steps for kids have the second step telling kids to state why what they did was wrong. While that works, I found that it didn't always seem appropriate (for example if they did something wrong on ACCIDENT), and it didn't focus on how our actions can affect others. I think empathy is such an important social/emotional skill to focus on and teach students about. So I created my own unit plan/activities with the second step focusing on empathy! What is included: -Brief teaching/activity guide. Enough activities are provided for a week-long unit. -Bulletin Board Posters to go along with the Unit. -Apologizing Social Story and reminders. -Apologizing Steps - 2 versions, one with text only, and one with text and pictures. -Sorting Activity: Sorting dialogue into the correct apologizing step. -Apology Practice cards: Read the apologizing scenario and then have students practice the four-step apology. -Apologizing Steps Floor Cards: to go along with the apology practice. Students can stand on the floor cards as they say each part of the practice apology. Looking for more SEL resources??
