I might have gotten carried away with creating cards using Swirly Bird. I made 6 different designs. The ideas just kept coming, so I kept creating! I didn't even touch the dies that coordinate with this stamp set! Can you even imagine the possibilities? Many of these cards came from Pinterest and I tweaked them to make them my own. The white space on this card is striking. Looking at it now, I do wish I would have added a bit of red on it. Oh well, it is still a pretty card. I used my Stampin' Trimmer to score the left edge of this card. I also fussy cut the bird and added a dimensional to give him some pop. I love these big flowers! I'm not sure I like the way I stamped the leaves. Oh well, this card will still bring a smile to someone's face. Creating a sailboat is also a possibility with this stamp set. Each component of the boat is a different stamp so you can create this boat in may different colors and styles. One thing to note about this card. You do want to stamp the words before you run the white through the embossing folder. You won't get a good image if you try to stamp after the paper has been embossed. I used the swirls to create a background on this card. So simple to do. I know I forget about simple sometimes. Need to remember that simple is still striking. Kites are another possibility. I did fussy cut the kites and tails. I used the splatter stamp to create my own background. I stamped it in Cherry Cobbler, Balmy Blue and Pacific Point. It really created a pretty background. What else can you think of for this stamp set? There are so many possibilities. I think I just touched the tip of the iceberg with what I created compared to what else you could do with this set. I'm a bit sad that I didn't play with it sooner. Maybe I will learn my lesson and use my sets faster so that I can enjoy them more. That is a challenge I have set up for myself. Stay tuned to see how I do (assuming I get to posting them! Ha!) Happy Stampin'! Well. Let me start out by saying, I wasn't prepared to love this stamp set and die bundle as much as I do. In fact, if it hadn't been in the preorder (or certain other stamp sets that I was dying to get my hands on were!) I probebly wouldn't have gotten this set for some months. It was on my wish list, but quite a way down..... But. I can honestly say, I have never used a bundle quite as much, (in such a short space of time) OR loved the resulting creations as much, as I have done with the swirly birds stamp set and matching dies. It's true. I must confess. I love swirly birds, and I love the matching swirly scribbles dies. I really do. They are an amazing set, with the potential for huge variety. (And, joy of joys- if you buy them together, you will get 10% off!) Pairing them with a set like.... Sprinkles of life, or playful pals... Well the variety is almost endless! Here are some samples: Swirly bird kite emerald Envy Swirly bird flower Swirly bird Kite Sprinkles of life clouds . Swirly bird climbing roses I love this card. I want to give due credit to the lovely demonstrator who inspired my card-Ilina Crouse. If you click on the picture above, it will take you to her original post. Ilina Crouse Swirly bird, with bird eggs and swirly scribbles nest. Swirly scribbles nest, playful pals bird Nest tutorial: Did you see those cute nests in the last 2 samples? Here's how you make them! 1. Cut out the "leafy" scribble in the die set 2. Place the die on a contrasting piece of card stock, and trace around it with a pencil. You can skip the leaves of you like. :-) 3. Cut it out 4. Cut the die cut card stock into a nest shape. 5. Put the "nest" on where it will go on the constructing backing piece. Mark the spot with a pencil for future reference. DO NOT GLUE IT YET. 6. Cut up the remaining "swirly die cut" piece into "twigs" 7. Weave these pieces through your nest. Tweezers are very helpful here! 8. Glue in place with a fine tip glue. 9. Position your nest over the backing piece, and glue down-but leaving the top unglued. Let dry completely. 10. Because the top is unglued, you can now trim neatly so the edge cannot be seen. after it is trimmed, you can secure with glue if needed. 11. Add a bird and some eggs if desired! (Bonus Bird Tip- I used the little negative pieces from the swirly scribbles die cut for the plume of the playful pals bird in my new nest!) Playful pals bird, with swirly scribbles "plume" I hope you enjoyed my post-are you looking forward to the new catalog yet? if you haven't got a demonstrator, please feel free to contact me, id love to send you out one! Have a great day- and fit in some creative therapy if you can!
Yvonne

I loved playing with Swirly Bird at our team meeting last weekend; this boat card keeps popping up on Pinterest so I apologise if I haven’t credited the original creator – please do let me know who it was! It was really fun to make (thanks, Jane, for the project!) and, while I kept closely to Jane’s card, I changed the colours so that I could use it for Mix It Up Monday using a combo from my latest set of In Color charts. So I switched up Jane’s red boats for cheery Pumpkin Pie and compromised with an orange sun, stamped off. Hope you like it! I love the nautical look of this colour combination, and think it makes a change from red. I’m not normally a fan of oranges but really like it in this context, with the three different shades of blue. As for the intruder on the photo above, I was rushing to take the picture as it was just beginning to rain. As you can see I was just quick enough before this happened... I just love using one of Swirly Scribbles die as a border and filling the gap with cutoffs of other paper. And love Copper Embossing powder !!! It looks great with Flirty Flamingo. Pinkness of Flirty Flamingo makes copper more pinkish. The sentiment is from Butterfly Basics. New to me stamp set, Watercolor Wings. This is a Two-step set. Two-step sets have a base image and overlay images that you can combines over the base image. You can use the colors and images you want to create the butterflies you want. It coordinates with Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies. This butterfly has 4 layers. The base layer used second generation image of Flirty Flaming, the second was stamped with Sweet Sugarplum and the third layer with Dapper Denim. I copper-embossed the last layer. I put Wink of Stella on the dots. This is really pretty and I wish you could see it in person. It's much more glittery than the photo. And I put more Wink of Stella in the slot. WHY NOT ?! I love shinny things. My entry to this week's Crazy Crafters Team Project Highlight. And my little foxy card I entered to last week's Team Project Highlight won the second place!!! When I first looked at these five artistic, curvy lines, I immediately saw music ... 5 lines just waiting for music notes to dance upon them. Here's what I created. The way the curvy lines swirl across the card, it just has to be happy music written there. I spritzed a shimmery mist over the entire top layer of the card, for some gorgeous sparkle. So now, do you see music? I’ve had a super busy crafty weekend. Friday morning was Crafty Friday, but more about that later in the week. Saturday afternoon was my Welcome Party for my new club members – a fun afternoon of crafting and chatting. But in between, Saturday morning, was my team meeting. We were a very small group so we just played with new products and chatted, which was lovely. Turns out we’d all ordered the same stamp set – Blooms and Wishes – but that was just about the only common ground, apart from Swirly Bird, which most of us had already ordered, or planned to in the next few weeks. This is a really popular set, partly because it was in the pre-order for demonstrators and partly because it’s so versatile. I must admit I’d completely overlooked it until I got to have to play with it on Saturday morning and made this project. It’s a twisted easel (thanks, Janet, for the tutorial). I’ve never made one before but it s really simple, just a square card with a diagonal score line on the top flap. I hope you love the colour combination as much as I do. It’s for Mix It Up Monday and is taken from my latest set of In Color charts. One of the ladies wasn’t happy about the addition of Mint Macaron, but I explained that rules are rules and if it’s in the combo, I have to use it. I think she was convinced when she saw the finished project; either that or she was too polite to say otherwise. Swirly Birds Thinlits & Stamps I participate in a few challenges and thoroughly enjoy the little push outside my comfort zone that these challenges give me. I have been wanting to join in over at the What will you stamp (WWYS) blog for some time now. Finally the stars have aligned I have a spare day & they are showcasing a stamp set I adore! Swirly Birds & Swirly Scribbles Thinlits & here is my card SWIRLY BIRD LOVE #Swirlybirds #Swirlyscribbles #Sunshinewishes #KOCreationcards #Flourishthinlits #Handmade #Love #StampinUp I have added this card to Kylie Bertucci's blog highlights this week. To vote for my card or any of the other entrants please click HERE Voting starts tonight x #Swirlybirds #Swirlyscribbles #Sunshinewishes #KOCreationcards #Flourishthinlits #Handmade #Love #StampinUp #Swirlybirds #Swirlyscribbles #Sunshinewishes #KOCreationcards #Flourishthinlits #Handmade #Love #StampinUp How I Made Swirly Bird Love : I Cut the base card thick Whisper White to 15 cm x 15 cm I also cut a acetate window sheet to 15 cm x 18 cm. I folded this on the 15 cm mark leaving a 3 cm flap at the back I cut the front panel from the thick whisper white at 7.5 using the wavy lines thinlits from the Swirly Scribbles set. I trimmed it to the fold leaving the bottom half intact as shown above. So the top of the acetate and the card base lined up I used a marker I&lined up where I wanted the long scribbles thinlits to sit. I then ran them through the bigshot . Once both the acetate and the base were cut I lined them up and stuck them together by adding Tear & Tape to the 3 cm flap of the acetate. I had to trim the top of the 3 cm flap down by hand to fit snugly. I cut a piece of Crumb Cake card stock 14 cm wide and then marked the top at 14 cm high. I used the swirly scribbles thinlit to match the top of the card base. I used all of the swirly stamps to make rose shapes all over a piece of Sugar Plum card stock. I used Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum & Whisper White ink pads for this, layering the colours for effect. I also stamped a few roses onto whisper white card stock. I then cut the stamped Sweet Sugarplum to measure 13 cm wide and marked it at 13 cm high. I placed the wavy thinlits there at the mark and ran through the big shot. I layered these onto the back of the card, as you can see in the picture below. Using the same technique of measuring and trimming to size I cut two layers for the middle of the card as seen above. I only needed one layer to add to the front and that was the Crumb Cake on top of the existing white card base. #Swirlybirds #Swirlyscribbles #Sunshinewishes #KOCreationcards #Flourishthinlits #Handmade #Love #StampinUp I then cut two strips if the wavy scribbles in Crumb Cake & Sugar Plum. After adhering these strips to the front and the middle using my snail adhesive I cut my stamped roses using the scribbles rose and placing the middle of that over the stamped image. ( I do wish I had a stand to make a video to show you) I also used the smallest shapes from the Swirly Scribbles set and die cut some little centres out of my stamped rose images. I die cut 3 sets of green leaves from the 'Flourish' thinlits set. 2 of these I cut down so I had 3 leaves at the top and a small stem. I then cut the last two leaves so that one had a stem and one was just a leaf on it's own. These were added to each page of the card. Please see pics for more detail. I added 3 roses each to the front and the middle of the card using dimensionals, 1 large and 2 small. I die cut the heart & 3 words - the Heart in Sweet Sugarplum, 'Hope' in Whisper White, 'Sunshine' in Sweet Sugarplum & 'LOVE' in Crumb Cake. I layered the words, one on each page of the card. On the last page I placed the heart under the word Love and also stamped some splatters in Sweet Sugarplum. I stamped the sweet little bird in Sweet Sugar Plum onto Crumb Cake and fussy cut around him. Stamping his feet onto the card then adding him by adhering with a dimensional. To finish it all off I added rhinestones to the center of each flower and tied a piece of Thick Whisper White Bakers Twine around the middle of the card. I added a touch more sparkle by adding \clear Wink of Stella to the lightest part of each rose. #Swirlybirds #Swirlyscribbles #Sunshinewishes #KOCreationcards #Flourishthinlits #Handmade #Love #StampinUp Well I do hope you have enjoyed my card creation today. If you have any queries please ask in comments below. If you have any ideas about a stand for a phone so I can do videos, also let me know lol. Thank you so very much for stopping by. As always if you would like to purchase any of these items you can do so by using the carousal below Thanks again :-) Toodles

I love it when the big brown box arrives from the courier bearing Stampin' Up stuff. For me, delivery days are either Tuesday or Friday. Friday's good as that means I can unpack it after work and have the weekend to play - although I actually do try to ration it so that I can have new stuff for longer. No, I really do! But this weekend, I've played with two new things, the second being Best Birds. I've used this set to create something for this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, which is the kind of sketch I really like: open and not too fussy. On this occasion, I managed to resist using the crosshatched background stamp that's part of this set because I've got a bit of a love affair going with masked and sponged backgrounds but I can see that I'm going to be going back to this set again and again as it's got so many possibilities. In this card, I've used Peekaboo Peach and Emerald Envy inside a circular mask to get the background for the bird. I've stamped the branch in Versamark and used the delicious new copper embossing powder and coloured the leaves. I die cut the bird twice in Peekaboo Peach and once in Early Espresso and the peach peeks out just a tiny bit to give a very 3D bird. I smeared a little versamark on the chest feathers with my finger so he could get some copper to dress him up a bit. It's funny how your opinion on a set can change. When I first saw this set in the new catalogue, I couldn't imagine ever wanting it. Now, I think you'll be seeing it often! Ingredients Card: Emerald Envy, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Peekaboo Peach Stamps: Best Birds Inks: Peekaboo Peach, Emerald Envy, Versamark Other: Copper embossing powder, Emerald Envy marker, sponges, circle framelit, pearls.
Today’s card was inspired by the Stamp, Ink, Paper color challenge… The Swirly Scribbles Thinlits create such fun and whimsical flowers on this notecard. The card base is Whisper White thick cardstock with a mat of Smoky Slate and Whisper White cardstock. The flower swirls were cut from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits in Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum cardstock. The leaves are from the Paisleys and Posies stamp set in the upcoming Holiday Catalog and were stamped in Old Olive ink on Pear Pizzazz cardstock.… Continue reading
These Slider cards were really easy and so much fun to make... I love these cards at the moment, I'm sure you can tell when you see them all. Though I must admit I am missing one from the collection, which I left behind for some to use as a guide (it was was one of my favourites too). So of course I did use this card for a workshop project, and yes...everyone loved it! No, this wasn't the workshop project, though I did bring it along to show the versatility of the card. I Just loved the idea of putting the car on the slider and now I'd have to say this is probably my most favourite one. I just wanted to mention here that if you want to save on card stock just cut the length of card to 8 1/4" instead of 81/2". This way you'll get two out of a sheet of A4. You will need change one other measurement though, instead of cutting the slot 1 1/2" from the edge you'll cut 1 1/4", you'll also have a smaller section to stick the card together with ( 1/4" instead of 1/2"). I found changing to these measurements was quite easy to adjust. I just wish I had thought of it before I had drawn up the measurements and instructions... Dawn's Stamping Studio - Slider card Video
Sunday 21 May 2017 Hello and welcome to my blog! Today I'm sharing a card made for the Colour INKspiration Challenge C109. My card offers a sneak peek of a new item in Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalogue due to be released 1 June. It's the Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack and comes in Berry Burst, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Dapper Denim and Whisper White. The new catalogue is filled with lots of amazing new products and ideas - you won't want to miss it! So when this challenge called for Dapper Denim I went straight to this new stack. It has six different designs so lots of choice! I used the Swirly Bird stamp set and its co-ordinating Swirly Scribbles Thinlits with the "Hello" and "there" from the Oh Happy Day Card kit. These colours were perfect for a nautical themed card and the Stitched Shapes Framelits square finishes off my card. And of course a bit of twine adds to the theme. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
