I found this cabinet card by B. J. Miller, Artist in a box of very ordinary photographs in a Dallas antique mall. I had to have it! Not only is it unlike any others in our collection but it was made in Sweetwater, Texas where my family lived at one time. Why is the young woman standing behind a pair of heavy velvet curtains decorated with flowers and fringe? Did she not like the dress she was wearing? Did she want to appear as a woman of mystery? I really have no idea but would welcome suggestions.
