I am so excited to have finished this project. It's been in the works for at least 2-3 years now. I can't really say it was a UFO, because it never got started. It was more like a PIGS (project in grocery sack)! I just kept collecting and collecting fabrics! With the Nancy Drew blog hop over, it came to the top of my "to-do" list again. Remember my "Get a Clue Sue" quilt. Well, Sue came from the International Sue book. Look familiar? Never has my sewing room looked like such a disaster, while creating this adorable quilt! At least, since I gave up paper scrapbooking! With so many fabrics in it, I had bits and pieces all over the place. I am so glad I hoarded those scraps over the years! LOL!! Here is a peak at the others... Kind of fun little ones aren't they? Each block is a 8"x10" square I chose to put mine together as a quilt as you go. My pile of batting scraps had started to grow out of control, and this was the best way to tame it. I also chose to use a variety of white and cream backgrounds. Since this really was a "use up those scraps" quilt. I even managed to just squeak out enough fabric for the front and the back from stash. Leftovers from projects of days past. So, I deem this my "freebie" quilt. Nothing purchased for it, and I have managed to de-stash a bit, which makes for a very happy quilter here! Sun Bonnet Sue and Fisherman Fred quilt block notecards- This six- pack of notecards features pen-and-ink sketches by LC DeVona of popular quilt blocks in the early 1900s, Sun Bonnet Sue and her friend, Fisherman Fred. The artist's Mom, Marion, made her a Sun Bonnet Sue quilt from her childhood dresses, to continue a family tradition since Marion's Mother, Lillian, made one for her. 100% Hand embroidery and hand quilted this cute Sun Bonnet Sue is a crib size quilt. Done mostly in purple depicts Sue in different scenes with her cat, dog and duck. Also flying a kite, picking flowers and making friends with butterflies.

I accomplished a good deal over this past week. Both the Raiders aprons are finished and I had enough fabric left over to make a runner to go with one, both are gifts for two friends of one of my daughters. I am pleased with how easy the aprons were to make and the runner came out nicely. I had left overs from one Raiders fabric that I used to make pillowcases and another runner durning the Christmas season for one that same daughter's friends. I finished the Sun Bonnet Sue quilt this week. I am so pleased to get it done, as it was started a good 20 years ago. It goes to my granddaughter Suren that started it with me when she was 10 or 12 years old. When I reorganized the storage systems in my sewing room I happened upon it, forgotten for years. This is the backing fabric. Yes it is perfect for it. I happened to pick this fabric up off the free table a my guild meeting several months before unearthing the quilt. This pattern is for the quilt 'Sunbonnet Sue and het Beloved Animal Friends'. It consists 12 blocks, one for each month of the year, as wel as a bonusblock "Merry Christmas" and 16 extra figures for in between the sashings. It was originally published as a BOM (Block Of the Month) on my Facebook page, but this document brings the entire pattern together. The document consists out of a comprehensive description, detailed pictures and patterns for all the blocks as well as for the extra figures. All text is in English. In my listings there are also patterns available for the 4 quarters of the year and the bonus block separately.
