Link to the SPELL BOOK download is FINALLY fixed! Print away!!! Oldest's Harry Potter party required of course some actual school books. I got the idea for the spell book originally from A Lemon Squeezy Home. I loved the idea of making a book of spells. The spell pages were formatted to go into a simple photo book. I did not want to spend that much per party guest so I thought up a way to make them look like leather bound books. I also decided to add in a Mythical Creature Book...which yes I now realize should have been Magical Creatures, but by the time my mistake was brought to my attention the suckers were already all printed out and assembled. The kids didn't even notice, so whew! I made this book to go with a Creature hunt. We used our books to review all the creatures and then they had to go around the house and "catch" them. If they were dangerous the kids had to cast a spell yelling "Stupify" in order safely gather them. So when all was said and done each guest had two different school books to use while at Hogwarts. I did a quick little how-to on how I assembled these guys. Harry Potter Spell and Creature Books What you will need: felt cut into 10"x7" rectangles, enough pieces for how many books felt cut into 1"x10" strips for book ribbons pages formatted for book, click below to get book pages -SPELL PAGES -CREATURE PAGES thread First cut out felt pieces. I chose different colors for each different book. Then cut out book ribbons. Print off pages for both books and make sure they are in the right order. Place the ribbon on the inside of the felt. Make sure they will be hidden by the pages. Remove pages and then sew in the ribbon. This is how it will look on the inside. This is how it will look on the outside. Next place the pages back over the ribbon and sew the pages to the felt "binding" of the "book". The pages will be secure. Place the ribbon in the book. Fold the books in half and press closed so they they stay closed. Then you have all of your school books. Have wand and you are ready to open your spell book and cast some spells. The favorite spell around here was "Stupify" and "Bombardo". The Mythical Creature Book helped prepare the guests to go on a Creature hunt. Once they reviewed their book they were able to gather all the creatures. The books were one of the highlights of the party. My boys still have theirs and for days after the party Middle was "blowing up" everything by yelling, "Bombardo". It was a fun project with great results!

Draco & Phoenix The Dragon and The Firebird The next harmonious pair is the mythical Phoenix and Dragon. Nearly every culture has a legend about dragons and some kind of mystical bird with Magical powers. Likewise both mystical creatures are associated with fire. The Dragon Breathes fire while the Phoenix rises from the ashes of a fire. It is kind of fighting fire with fire. On one last modest level, both their names in 'English' have silly subs for the initial sounds. Legend has it, if you spell Dragon with a natural J or Phoenix with an F, you'll attract the unwanted attention of angry dragons and territorial phoenixes. Interestingly both constellations are on opposite teams of our Galactic Disk. Draco is allied with the Galactic Super Cluster Capitol Galaxy M-87, within Virgo's Golden Grain. On the other hand, Phoenix is on Andromeda's side with a clear view to our closest Galactic Twin - Andromeda Galaxy. The flag of the Draco the Dragon is composed of several colours: black, violet, indigo, blue, green, white, red, and navy blue. The colours denote the celestial latitude (Declination). Since the Dragon passes into the 80 degree celestial polar regions, its time chart is navy blue and it has black stripe up top. The flag of Phoenix the Firebird is composed of the colours yellow, green, blue, black, and white. Since it is best visible during the months of October and November the signs of Libra and Scorpio are present. Note that the Dragon and Phoenix is a popular dish in American-Chinese Restaurants. It is usually composed of chicken and shrimp, most often General Tso's Chicken and Sweet and South Shrimp. You can imagine the shrimp looking like little water dragons while the chicken is the distant relative of the phoenix. The colours indicate the celestial latitude while the zodiac signs tell us the celestial longitude. The Celestial Sphere is basically the cosmos in a ball. You have to step outside the universe to understand its dynamics. It's similar to globe but puts the universe in a sphere.

An Acromantula was a giant magical species of spider native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, particularly Borneo, where it inhabited dense jungles. Acromantulas were believed to be a wizard-bred species, designed to guard dwellings or treasure hoards, and were first created before the Ban on Experimental Breeding in 1965. These giant spiders had a taste for human flesh and were first spotted in 1794.[2] Acromantulas sported eight black eyes (white if blind) and were typically covered in thi

Downhill, of course! But, in every classroom there are students convinced that all rivers flow south. Blame it on wall maps that hang vertically and our knowledge of gravity. Blame it on the directionality of our largest river. Blame it on ignorance. But then do something to correct the misconception. Each group will need: -A sheet of freezer paper-A pan or tub in which the paper fits -Water-based markers: Blue, Brown, Purple, Black -Spray Bottle filled with water To begin, each group will create a unique landscape by crumpling up the piece of freezer paper. The paper is then opened part-way to reveal mountains, valleys, crevices, etc. Place the paper in the pan, making sure all of the paper is contained in the pan. Use the brown marker to mark the ridges and high points of the landscape. Use the blue marker to mark the low spots, where the students think the water will collect. Students then need to decide where they think the best place to build roads would be. They then draw in the roads using the black marker. Each student should choose a site for a house and draw that in with the purple marker. They may also wish to draw in other municipal buildings. Finally, add a compass rose to the upper right hand corner. Now you're ready for it to rain.... Using the spray bottle, mist water all over the landscape and watch what happens to the water - where it flows, where it collects, etc. How did the roads fare? How about the houses? Did all the water flow in the same direction? Which way did it go?

How to throw the ultimate Harry Potter Hogwarts Dinner Event. How to make a Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom with decor and activities.
"I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death..." Professor Snape, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's StonePotions is Harry Potter's least favorite class at Hogwart's School, thanks to a very unpleasant Professor Snape. Cruel and sarcastic, Snape has it in for Harry due his intense dislike of James Potter, Harry's father. A kitchen counter or table is the best place to have Potions lessons. Potions is basically chemistry class for the magically inclined. I took a recipe for goop and simply changed the names of the components to magical ingredients. Materials: Prepare these materials in advance. I printed labels to cover up the bottles and box of baking soda. Gillywater: Vinegar solution - mix 1 cup household vinegar with 1 cup water, or just use straight from the bottle. Black plastic spoons: add a couple drops of food color to the spoons and let dry. The food coloring will be invisible on the black spoons. Powdered bicorn horn: Baking Soda Dragon Scales: Glitter or small sequins Essence of Murtlap: Solution of 1 cup white school glue mixed with 1 cup water Phoenix Tears: Borax solution - dissolve 2-3 tsp borax in 1 cup water. I heated it slightly in a saucepan to help it dissolve. Borax is in the laundry detergent section of stores. Wiggentree Bark: small twigs or craft sticks for stirring. Large 8-12 oz clear plastic cups - these must be clear to see the color change and fizzing Small plastic cups with lids - these are the "crystal phials" from the Apothecary Tears of Phoenix Label "Crystal Phial" Potions Lesson - post these instructions up near the potions area for reference Measure 1/4 cup of gillywater and pour into the large plastic cup. Stir well with the black plastic spoon provided. (When the spoon hits the vinegar it will turn color) Add 1-2 spoonfuls of bicorn horn. (Baking soda will fizz and neutralize the acidic vinegar) Add dragon scales - for decoration Add about 2-3 tablespoons essence of murtlap (glue solution) Add 1-2 tablespoons phoenix tears (borax solution) Stir with the wiggentree bark stick (solution will coagulate and form a goopy mass) Scoop out the goop into the small plastic cup. Cap tightly and mark with names. I did a test run of the potions lesson before the party to make sure it worked. Assist the kids to follow the steps and mix the solution in the right order. The result will be a slimy substance we called flobberworm mucus. Use the crystal phials to contain the slime and let the kids keep it in their black cauldron bags as party favors. If you have an adult helper that can act nasty like Professor Snape it makes it even more fun! Next Stop: Herbology Class or Transfiguration Class or Outdoor Activities
