The suffragette who rode a scooter in 1916
Ab 5.

This stunning ring is set in a buttery 18ct Gold, and features a bright, central oval cut amethyst sandwiched between four sparkling old cut diamonds, and on either end, two shimmering green peridots. Jewellery which combined peridot, amethyst and diamonds or pearls together was often referred to as suffragette jewellery, as it was in these colours that the suffragettes were thought to communicate to each other that they supported the suffragette movement. (Green for 'Give', White for 'Women' and Violet for 'Vote') All the gems are in super condition, and they catch the light beautifully. The band is currently a UK size R 1/2 (US size 8 3/4) but it could easily be re-sized up or down. It weighs 3.55g and is clearly hallmarked for 18ct Gold and Chester. The date has been rubbed but i would date it to between 1900 and 1918. These classic, antique rings are extremely difficult to find nowadays and are snapped up very quickly. Please have a look at the pictures and video, and dont hesitate to get in touch if you require any further information.
Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Anglistik - Kultur und Landeskunde, einseitig bedruckt, Note: 2,0, Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Englisches Seminar), Veranstaltung: Political Studies, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die englische Frauenrechtsbewegung ist eine der interessantesten und medienwirksamsten Protestbewegungen des 20. Jahrhunderts.
These Suffragette portrait cards are an homage to the courageous women who fought against all odds for women's rights at a time when being female was a considerable disadvantage. Featuring the remarkable Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony and Emmeline Pankhurst: fearless women who marched, were imprisoned and were ostracized for their beliefs in the U.S. and the U.K. They are taken from an original poster and make a thoughtful gift for any feminist, or women's history buff. Modern re-print front and back from an original vintage suffrage-related postcard (original circa 1910). The front image depicts a comic-style cartoon of a woman presented as a hammer with the caption " Some of the striking features of London ". Toffee hammers were carried by Suffragettes to smash window glass, as they were readily available and could easily be concealed in clothing. Brooches in the shape of toffee hammers were worn to show the wearer had taken part in this activity. In November 1911, window-smashing become an official policy of the Women's Social and Political Union. Attacks on both government and commercial buildings during 1911 and 1912 resulted in the arrest of over 200 women. *Please Note* This is a high-quality replica copy and not the original postcard. The original was published by Wildt & Kray, Series No. 2835. Printed in England. The back of the postcard is blank and features printed reproduction of the original printed lettering and postage stamp square. Printed on high quality photo paper. Posted second class in a hard-back envelope for protection. If you would like to have this image but not pay huge amounts for the real/original card, this may appeal to you. Carefully sourced, digitally scanned, replicated, printed and hand-finished.
