I don't know about you, but I am SO ready for summer weather! Here in Oregon, the rainy days continue after experiencing the "wettest April on record"...and I'm ready for the beach! So in lieu of sunny weather, I reached for my new Season of Chic stamps, the Chic dies and some absolutely gorgeous new papers: Texture Chic and Distressed Gold. And look what happened: OMG, I'm so in love! I first wanted to showcase this beautiful Texture Chic designer paper. I cut a 3" x 4-1/4" piece of scrap cardstock and bordered it with Tear & Tape adhesive. After removing the protective liner paper, I smooshed the piece face down in Gold Leafing to give the shiny edge to the cardstock. Then I adhered a slightly smaller piece of the Texture Chic paper over the top, leaving the gold edges exposed. Be still my heart! This was attached to the Evening Evergreen card base, with a layer of Evening Evergreen (cut with the new Deckled Rectangle dies and embossed with the Painted Texture embossing folder). 💓 (beating heart!) Then came the "decorating" - look at the beautiful fishnet. The Distressed Gold paper was cut with one of the Chic dies (I only used half of it), and the greeting, stamped in Versamark and heat-embossed with Gold Embossing Powder on Soft Succulent cardstock was cut with the new Stylish Layers dies. The shell was stamped, embossed with gold and cut with a die, and the little shell was cut from the Distressed Gold paper. So pretty! All that was needed was a few jewels - the 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds were perfect! Who's ready for the beach? The theme this month for Stampin' Fancy Friday is to use the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue as inspiration for a project. You can see what the Stampin' Fancy Friday crew have done with this by following us on Instagram. The Stampin' Fancy Friday crew is made up of past and current Artisan Design Team members, so you'll get a great range of ideas. For inspiration, I used the colours from the spread on page 44. Although it was a Christmas layout, I liked the warm colours and the combination of browns and greens with a touch of Blushing Bride. I used these colours with the Season of Chic bundle. This bundle is my favourited from the new catalogue. You can see how I made it in this tutorial. If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I'm introducing the cards we'll be making at my in-person card classes coming up next week. You'll make 3 beautiful cards and the cost is $20, which includes envelopes and printed instructions. All you need to bring are your scissors and favorite adhesives. The schedule is as follows: Thursday, June 23rd 12:00 Thursday, June 23rd 5:00 Sunday, June 26th 2:00 Now let's take a look at the cards you'll make. This first card is made with the Texture Chic Suite and Delicate Edges dies. The Suite includes the beautiful Texture Chic Designer Series Paper, Season of Chic Bundle, and the beautiful Distressed Gold Specialty paper. The price of the whole Suite is just $77.50 plus shipping and taxes. I will post a card I made using the Distressed Gold paper at the bottom of the post. Next is the cute Wild and Sweet card with the panda. He looks so peaceful. The third card introduces the beautiful Willow Tree bundle and I used the Texture Chic Designer Series Paper, again, for the background and the Fabulous Frames dies for the frame. I hope you like these cards and live in the Tallahassee, Florida area. I would love to have you attend my classes. Below is the card made with the Distressed Gold paper and also the Willow Dies. Also, I have entered the card below in a card competition sponsored by Kylie Bertucci, and I would appreciate it if you would take a minute to go over to my blog and vote for it. Welcome to a new challenge at Colour INKspiration! This striking colour palette was chosen for us by Crew Member Lou Kitzelman. If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group. Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge, although there is no Guest Designer for this challenge as we unusually had less than ten entries. If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. - for example Garden Green for Shaded Spruce. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends. The colours whispered that they were florals but I wanted something a little more than a floral spray, so I turned to what is fast becoming my favourite suite from the new catalogue, Texture Chic. This suite offers a stamp/die bundle (and oh, what a bundle!) plus gorgeous Distressed Gold Specialty paper and stunning Texture Chic Specialty DSP with its opulent touches of gold. There are images for every season: seashells, flowers, leaves and snowflakes along other grungy elements and a heap of fabulous sentiments. Although the seashells are my favourite, I went for the flowers and leaves on this one. I stamped two flowers in Blushing Bride on Whisper White. I die cut them plus an outline in Blushing Bride. I die cut the outline overlay from the Distressed Gold Specialty paper and some stamens in the same paper and Blushing Bride, then assembled the three central flowers. I cut various leaves from Shaded Spruce and Soft Succulent and some smaller die cut flowers from the Distressed Gold Specialty paper so I had plenty to play with when making up the cluster. The netting grid in behind is die cut from Shaded Spuce. I used the grunge splatter stamps to build a stamped background on the card front before adding the strips of DSP from the Texture Chic Specialty DSP pack then layering up the cluster. The embellishments are from the 2021-2023 In Colour Opal Rounds. Aren't they a fabulous addition to the bling stable? I'm very interested to see what everyone does with these interesting colours. Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in! It's sketch week at As You See It and we have a wonderful one to stimulate your mojo. Isn't it great?! I saw the three circles as scallop shells from Season of Chic, a set that is already a firm favourite of mine. They're stamped in Soft Suede, partly filled with Blushing Bride and sponged around the edges in Crumb Cake. I think the birthday sentiment is one of the nicest greetings. It's stamped in Soft Suede too. The asymmetric panel is one of the gold-flecked patterns from the Texture Chic Specialty Designer Papers. I cut the mesh panel from the Distressed Gold Specialty paper. This is such a fantastic paper with the distressed and textured look while still being light enough to die cut easily. I've stamped in the background with different generations of Soft Succulent with some splatters of Blushing Bride. I added in some of the 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds as a lovely finishing touch. We'd love to see how you see this sketch, so don't forget to visit the As You See It page to see what the rest of the Design Team have done and to link up your own creation. Handmade Thinking of You card made with the Season of Chic stamp set by Stampin' Up! and created by Peggy Noe of Pretty Paper Cards #thinkingofyoucard
I got a bit of quiet time in my craft room this morning, tidying up after classes and trying to find my mojo. I was inspired, as I so often am, by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. My mind immediately went to my current favourite bundle, Season of Chic. I'm generally not a big user of DSP in card making but the combination of exquisitely beautiful paper and the sketch just made me do it today. 😀 From there, it was simply a matter of building up a pleasing cluster with an assortment of stamps and die cuts. On the subject of beautiful DSP, one of the most amazing products from the Annual Catalogue is that gorgeous Distressed Gold Specialty DSP. It's just so wonderful in so many places! Update: Delighted to be chosen as a Perfect Princess at Freshly Made Sketches. If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I was procrastinating in my craft room, so ended up putting together a card for the latest challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches. It didn't help me get the jobs done but it made me feel better. 😀 I started by water colouring a scrap of Shimmery White Cardstock with Granny Apple Green and Soft Sea Foam. Once it was dry, I die cut some leaves using the Chic dies: four small and one medium. I kept things very simple, adding in a sentiment from Season of Chic, then matting the panel onto a Basic Gray base. Welcome to the third of Bronwyn's Birthday Bash Blog Hops. We're a group of stamping friends that are celebrating Bron's 60th Birthday in 2022 with six blog hops, over six months, with six fun themes! Bronwyn Eastley of Addinktive Designs does the MOST amazing 3D creations and is one lovely lady. I was delighted to be invited to join Bronwyn's big birthday celebrations. The theme for this month is 'Inky Blues' which makes me happy because I love 'inky' and I love 'blue'. I think that the Texture Chic suite is rapidly becoming my favourite from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalogue. There's images for each season and the seashells are just right for summer. I've used Balmy Blue, Pacific Point and Starry Sky to create a faux strip of torn paper to which I've added some stamped images. Then, I've added a small cluster of die cut elements and the sentiment: isn't it a great greeting? You can see how I made this card (and how I fixed an unexpected botch up) in this video tutorial. Next up on the hop is the fabulous Lou Kitzelman from Australia. If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. Thank you for joining in with the latest hop from the crew at Around the World on Wednesday. If you haven't hopped with us before, we're a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from every time zone in the world where Stampin' Up! operates. You're here with me, in New Zealand. Each month we present a different theme to inspire you to create. This month, our theme is 'It's a Wonderful Day in the Neighbourhood'. Where is our favourite place? Where have we enjoyed being? For me, my happy place is the beach. I love being by the ocean and listening to the waves, wandering along the shoreline just seeing what's been washed up and paddling if it's warm. Many of our best family holidays have been at the seaside so there are many happy memories associated with it too. One of the many reasons I love the Season of Chic bundle is the seashell stamps. There's also some beautiful seashell paper in the Texture Chic Specialty DSP pack. So these products and the seaside memories have inspired this project. The fancy fold is one I'd never seen until I received a birthday card using it from an Australian demonstrator, and team mate at Colour INKspiration, Julia Quinn. So I call it Julia's fold but I suppose it has some other much more descriptive name! Here it is in 'ready-for-the-envelope' form. If you'd like to see how I made it, here is a video tutorial. Next up for more inspiration and ideas is the incomparable Leonie Stuart in Australia. If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. Hello stampers, welcome to week 12 of the Colour Creations Blog Hop with the Art With Heart Team. This week all of our projects will feature Calypso Coral, which is a lovely warm coral colour, as the name suggests. This week my projects use the Potted Geranium Bundle. I'm a little late to the party with this bundle as I was trying so hard to resist it, but alas, I couldn't. This is my first play with this bundle and I have made one card that uses mainly the dies and on card that uses mainly the stamps. These stamps and dies were straight forward to use and did not involve a huge number of small pieces to complete the flowers and leaves. I'm looking forward to using this set with my online classes especially. The first card uses the dies in this bundle. As we are featuring Calypso Coral I cut one of each of the flower pieces from Calypso Coral. I paired the Calypso Coral flower base with Poppy Parade shading and used a Petal Pink flower base with the Calypso Coral shading piece. The leaves and stems are cut from Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green. The pots are two of our lovely new In Colours Starry Sky and Orchid Opulence. The clouds are cut using on of the Basic Borders Dies. These are my absolute favourite dies, I used them so often, either for clouds like this or as a mask that I colour with Blending Brushes. A few Brushed Brass Butterflies finished the card. For the second card I used mainly the stamps, except for cutting out the outline images of the flowers and leaves. By using the stamps the second card has a lot more detail and texture than the dies alone, but I like both options equally. The flowers are stamped in Calypso Coral and Petal Pink ink and the leaves are stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink. The first image is stamped full strength and the second, smaller image is stamped off once. The background behind the pot is a Deckled Rectangle that has been embossed with the In The Clouds Embossing Folder. I used a sponge Dauber and Balmy Blue ink to gently highlight the sky parts of the folder as opposed to the clouds. The brick wall below all of the pots is a piece of Crumb Cake card stock that has been embossed with the Bricks and Mortar Embossing Folder. Both of the greetings are stamped in Calypso Coral and have been die cut with a die from the Geraniums set. This die is a very versatile size and I'm sure I will be using it regularly. Again, the final touch to this card was a few Brushed Brass Butterflies. All of the products used to make these cards are available from my online store, the links are listed below. Now it time to see what the next stamper has to share with us. Please head to Diane Furniss' blog by clicking on her name or on the graphic below.
