Hello, and thanks for visiting my blog! And thank you VERY much for voting my card into third place for Kylie Bertucci's September International Blog Highlights competition!! I am really excited to be part of this group of amazing designers from all over the world, and to have been asked to participate in the Top Ten Winners' Hop again! (I am posting my Top Ten card at the bottom of this blog entry, in case you missed it.) This was a fun card to create! As you may know, I love using Blending Brushes to make backgrounds! I've had the Perched in a Tree Stamp Set and Aspen Tree Dies for quite a while, but hadn't used them yet. I thought this would be a perfect set to make a card with a Blending Brush background. Our Stampin' Blends were used to colour the bird. Hop on over to my YouTube channel to watch a tutorial on how to make this card. And while you are there, grab the FREE printable tutorial! Visit my YouTube channel to see how this card is made! You can also find a FREE TUTORIAL with the YouTube video! Here is the card I submitted for this month's contest. Thanks again for voting it into third place! To see more photos for the card below, and a link to a YouTube video and free tutorial, click here. I'd love for you to comment below, if you have a moment. 😊 Then be sure to check out the other Top Ten Winners' cards!! Early Espresso is fabulous for wood and nature themed cards, like the Perched in a Tree Christmas card I've made for this week's Early Espresso AWH hop.
I used the Stampin’ Up! Perched In A Tree stamp set bundle to create my project for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. We’ve got a theme challenge this week and this is what I made for it.
Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team blog hop! Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our them…
Make a beautiful card with a Perched in a Tree Bundle and the Stampin' Blends with Alcohol and Vellum Technique. FREE TUTORIAL available.
Gorgeous Grape with Perched In A Tree & Brightest Beauty Hello. Welcome to Valley Inspirations with Andrea and the Art with Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop. We are working though and featuring each of the Stampin' Up! colours in alphabetical order. This week’s Blog Hop is focussing on a bright purple called Gorgeous Grape. Gorgeous Grape is part of the Brights Colour Family and is a happy colour. This colour is lovely when used for flowers, birds and so much more. It is a complimentary colour to yellow - sitting directly across the colour wheel. Gorgeous Grape is produced in Stampin' Up!'s card-stock, both A4 & 12"x12"; Classic Stampin' inks (ink pads, spots & re-inkers); Stampin' Write Markers; Watercolor Pencils; Soft Pastels, Brights Designer Series Paper as well as Pretty Prints & Hues of Happiness DSPs and Glossy Dots & Pastel Pearls. My card uses Gorgeous Grape Classic Stampin’ ink, Stampin’ Write Marker, Hues of Happiness DSP, and the dark Highland Heather Stampin‘ Blend (which acts as Gorgeous Grape in colour and tone). I started with a piece of Basic White card-stock and blended some Gorgeous Grape Classic ink over the left edge with a Blending Brush. This panel was embossed with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder and then a little more ink was added to darken some of the embossed notes. A piece of Hues of Happiness DSP with Fresh Freesia, Gorgeous Grape and Night of Navy blocks of colour as added to the Fresh Freesia card base at an angle then the embossed, blended panel was adhered over the top. The bird from the Perched in a Tree stamp set was stamped in Smoky Slate ink on Basic White card-stock. The “Let heaven and nature sing” sentiment was also stamped in Smoky Slate ink. The bird was coloured with Highland Heather, Orchard Oasis, Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate Alcohol Blends Combos together with the Colour Lifter. While there is no Gorgeous Grape named Stampin’ Blends it is important to know that the Dark Highland Heather Blend is Gorgeous Grape in colour. I was going to add some Gorgeous Grape Water-colour Pencil to give more definition to the bird but was interrupted and then … forgot. Have you mixed colouring implements - it can give gorgeous effect. The bird was fussy cut but could have been cut out with a coordinating die. The wattle stamp from the Brightest Beauty stamp set was stamped in Versamark ink on Vellum card-stock and then heat embossed with White Emboss Powder and a Heat Tool. It was die cut with a coordinating die from the Golden Beauty dies. The reverse side of the embossed wattle was coloured with a Light Daffodil Delight Blend before being adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, applying the glue to the reverse side of the leaves. Some twigs were die cut from Basic White card-stock before being lightly coloured with a Blending Brush and Soft Succulent ink. The same piece of card-stock was lightly and unevenly coloured with Daffodil Delight ink and then wattle flowers were die cut. All the pieces were arranged over/under the white embossed wattle on the card front. The bird was added with Dimensionals. The earlier-stamped sentiment was fussy cut and adhered in place with Mini Dimensionals. A bow was tied in Fresh Freesia Open Weave ribbon that had been coloured with the dark Highland Heather Blend and sliced in half lengthwise. I’m not happy with this bow so will play with it later and am likely to change it for a different trim. The card front was finished with a number of Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels. To coordinate, the Basic White card inner was stamped with the same bird in Smoky Slate ink and a leftover die cut twig was adhered over. The same stamping and twig were added to the Basic White C6 Envelope. Thank you for spending time with me on my blog. I do appreciate it. There is more Gorgeous Grape creativity. Welcome to Workshop Wednesday!! Today's projects feature the Perched in a Tree Bundle and the Mini Pocket Envelope Dies. If you missed the live presentation, you can catch the replay below. I paired the Aspen Tree Die with Deckled Rectangle Die to create a background for the beautiful water colored bird. The image is stamped with Versamark on Shimmery White cardstock and heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. Next, I water colored the image using a Water Painter and Balmy Blue Ink. The branches are also stamped with Versamark and die

I used Mango Melody & Balmy Blue. You can add the ink directly to the paper with a water painter or use a Window Sheet. You can see the technique in the video below. Let dry. 2- Stamp the splatter image in Sahara Sand along the edges of the background. 3- Cut out the Aspen Tree Die from Very Vanilla Cardstock. Cut out the three left tree trunks and add to the left of the background. 4- Add the 1” x 3 ½” strip of Vellum Layering Designs – I used the handwritten script about 1/3 from the bottom. Wrap 24” of Linen Thread and tie a bow on the right side. Add everything to the center of the cardbase with dimensionals. 5- Stamp the bird on some Fluid 100 in Stazon Ink. Watercolor with Soft Suede & Mango Melody ink. Let dry. Cut out with coordinating die and add to the center of the card with dimensionals. 6- Cut out three small leaves in Soft Sea Foam and add a little interest with a watercolor wash using Pear Pizzazz ink. Let dry and add two by the bird on the left and one by the bow on the right. 7 - Stamp your greeting in Stazon ink on Basic White Cardstock and fussy cut out. Add with dimensionals to the right of the bird near the bow. 8- Add three Brass Brushed Metallic Dots. All Done! Card #2 1- Stamp the bird & branch in the center of the 3” x 5” Fluid 100 Paper. Watercolor with Soft Suede, Mango Melody & Balmy Blue ink. Let dry. 2- Stamp the splatter image in Sahara Sand along the edges of the background. 3- Adhere the 1” x 5” Vellum Layering Designs handwritten script to the left side with about ½” showing. 4- Wrap 30” of Linen Thread and tie a bow near the branch. 5- Stamp your greeting in Stazon ink on Basic White Cardstock and fussy cut out. Add with dimensionals to the right side of the card under the branch. 6- Cut out three small leaves in Soft Sea Foam and add a little interest with a watercolor wash using Pear Pizzazz ink. Let dry and add two by the bow on the left and one by the greeting on the right. 7- Add three Brass Brushed Metallic Dots. All Done! This bundle was one of my first purchases from the new 2022 Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog. I love this birch tree die-cut and made a bunch of these cards for an online swap last month. It creates a pretty window of birch trees that can be the star of the card. I simply sponged a bit of Crumb Cake ink over a few areas and added it to a Pool Party layer. The greeting is also from this bundle and...
