As you know, I'm obsessed with this Lined Alphabet set and coordinating Layering Alphabet dies. And for good reason! Its amazing, fun to create with and so incredibly unique! I went for rainbow colors this time and created a special card for a friend. The card is the standard 5...

It took a few trial and errors to get the cardstock size correct using these dies, but I'm quite happy with how these cards turned out for a first try. For this card I used the Lined Alphabet to White Emboss each of the letters after they were cut out. The Dragonflies are from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. These letters were left without stamping as I felt the vivid colours stood out on their own. Discontinued Picture Perfect DSP was used to finish the card. For this card the letters were stamped in the coordinating colour after they were cut out. The Birthday stamp is from the Birthday Banners set. The DSP used here is called Garden Impressions, and the flowers are cut using the Springtime Impressions Thinlits. #1 Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Pootles - Layering Alphabet Dies Tips and Hints Well today I don't have a tutorial but instead I have some tips and tricks

Happy Friday everyone and welcome! It's been a busy week as have given my craft room a bit of a make over but am still finishing off a few decorating details so I hope to have the odd photo for you by next week:-) In the meantime, we have a fabulous and versatile Colour Challenge at Just Add Ink this week for you suggested by Di. As always, our lovely and talented design team have created awesome cards to inspire you so I hope you can take a moment to pop on over and take a look and join us. I used the colours this week to create a card for a favourite Nephew's birthday. He got an electric guitar recently so the guitar from Epic Celebrations was a given :-) Here it's embossed in silver onto black card stock. The letters and angled design is all thanks to the new Layered Alphabet Bundle. Starting with cutting the appropriate letters from card stock, they were then stamped using Playful Backgrounds and then the letters were stamped with Versamark and embossed in white. I started the die cut letters with the "r" and left plenty of room on the left side that was later trimmed down. To work out how much space each letter needed, I laid the cut letter over the next piece of card and continued this process with each letter. Have you seen them yet? The cards are all the same and using the same products, just changing up the In Colour for each different card. They are amazing colours in their own right but don't they look fabulous all together too. For each card I cut 1/4" strips of the in Color 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper. There are 2 double-sided designs in the 5 In Colours of this fabulous paper so if you wanted to change up this look just use a different pattern from the DSP to change it around. I then cut a strip of the In Colour card stock and added the heat embossed letters from the new alpha set - Lined Alphabet. The cards are then finished off with some Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon, to continue that Polka dot theme and then a piece of the 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon in the co-ordinating In Color. Lovely Lipstick Grapefruit Grove Pineapple Punch Call Me Clover Blueberry Bushel Which one is your favourite new In Color? I think I'm loving Lovely Lipstick at the moment and Blueberry Bushel. These make for some really fun cards! And the dies are actually much easier to use than I thought they would be. I have used 7.5cm square pieces of cardstock & lined up the top & right hand side of the paper with the dies to cut my pieces, so no wastage cutting them down to size. This size worked well as I was able to cut four letters from each piece of DSP, but I don't think you could cut it any smaller than this. Here's a few of the products shown in this card. Awhhhh.......it is so much fun playing with NEW products! Check out these awesome alphabet edgelits that will be available on June 1st in the NEW Annual Catalog. They are called the Layering Alphabet Edgelits. This is card that I created for my Spring Fling I had last weekend. I had all of the letters cut for everyone & they just had to do a little stamping & then assemble it. It was a cool thing to share! And I think everyone liked it. And this is also the card that Brayden got last night at his birthday party from Grandma & Papa. Today he is actually 10 years old!! I can't believe it. Where does the time go? He loved his card (& probably the money in it more). I created this card using these colors with him in mind! The Tempting Turquoise color I used here is retiring! Have you stocked up on it if it is one of the colors that you want to continue to use? stamp set: 'Confetti Celebration'-RETIRING card stock: Tempting Turquoise-RETIRING, Pool Party, Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay ink: Pacific Point other: Bit Shot, Magnetic Platform, Layering Alphabet Edgelits- NEW on June 1st, Classic Label Punch, Dimensionals, Glue Dots Check it out! I cut out the "Y" by itself like this. I just had to snip the top left corner with my Paper Snips, so that we could have it separate & adhere it to the front of the word. And this is what the framelit set itself looks like that cuts out the V shape with the alphabet connected to it. The letters just hook into the slots. It is pretty cool!! They lined up perfectly when I used a 3x3 of card stock to cut it from. I also wanted to share an old Crimpled Paper technique that I did when I first stamping over 18 years ago. Back then we didn't have the Big Shot- so we created our background with ink. How did I do i? I just took a 3x3 piece of typing paper scrunched it up pushed it into my ink pad & then stamped it onto my paper! It just gives a textured look & some added depth & dimension to the card. You'll have to give this 'old' & fun crimpled paper technique a try! ++++++++ Yesterday was a busy day with Masen & Ainslee. Brody & Brayden were here after school. We all then went to Nathan & Sarah's home for supper to celebrate Brayden's 10th birthday. This morning I'm off to town to get the boys, take the twins to school & spend my day with the 3 little ones. Deke is home work on the farm all day. Tonight when everyone is gone home I have lots of stuff to get unpacked & put away from my Spring Fling class I had this past weekend. Gotta run...... I hope you have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!! I have a cool product to share with you today and I even made a VIDEO for you to watch of how I made this card. Here is the card; I made the above card using Calypso Coral Night of Navy. I got the idea for this colour combo from a card that Kylie made for her team for the recent OnStage Stampin' Up! event. I really liked how this card turned out and I loved the colour combo too! I loved it so much that for the video, I made it using two of the new In-Colours.... What do you think of these two colours together? Blueberry Bushel Grapefruit Grove I used the Enjoy Life stamp set for the background. I love using Photopolymer Stamps for repetitive stamping. When I first saw this stamp, I immediately thought of someone doing a double fist pump! The Layering Alphabet Edgelits are so awesome! It's that time again, the Video Blog Hop team is back to share Masculine creations and inspiration with you this month. I'm going to say,..... Masculine is my nemesis, flowers and bling are more my thing (oh that rhymes, I'm a poet, haha). I don't know how many times I sat down to create for this and drew a bit fat 100% blank, and then when I did have an idea I couldn't figure out how to incorporate my personal DSP challenge, needless to say this card was a long time in the "creative making" and my sanity was wearing thin. I don't know how, but suddenly Dude! popped in my head, maybe I was talking to our Husky, Dave - he is a dude (totally has a mind of his own, and does things according to the way of Dave, never a dull moment). My Lined Alphabet Bundle was still sitting on my desk unopened, now I had the perfect reason! I used a "B - side" of the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper to fulfil my DSP challenge, and my favourite technique - masking to add the sentiment from Around the Corner, here's a video tutorial of how I completed all the elements for the card.
